Russia

Kniha nabízí širší poučení o starších dějinách východní Evropy, které v současné české historiografii s výjimkou období Kyjevské Rusi stále chybí. Chronologicky je obsah publikace vymezen polovinou 9. století, to znamená dobou, ve které se objevily první zmínky o Rusi, a koncem 16. století, kdy dynastie Rurikovců, vládnoucí v řadě státních útvarů východní Evropy od prvotního ruského státu přes ruské království až po moskevský stát, odešla z historické scény a země se propadla do víru bouřlivých událostí označovaných jako smuta, jež trvaly až do roku 1613. Autorka čerpá z nejnovější, ale také starší historiografie i původních pramenů a informuje o významných událostech a jevech, jež v dávných dobách středověku formovaly dějiny státních útvarů, které postupně vznikaly na daném území, ale většina z nich je už dávnou minulostí.
