Cieľom nového Stavebného zákona č. 25/2025 Z. z. je profesionalizácia štátnej správy vo výstavbe, znižovanie administratívnej záťaže pre podnikateľské prostredie a zjednodušenie procesu povoľovania a realizácie stavieb od návrhu stavebného zámeru až po kolaudáciu stavby. Rozšíril sa okruh stavieb, ktoré nevyžadujú posúdenie stavebným úradom aj stavieb, pre ktoré sa vyžaduje iba zjednodušené administratívne posúdenie stavebným úradom na základe ohlásenia. Ide o drobné stavby a stavebné úpravy, údržbu a opravy existujúcich stavieb, stavebných úprav na pozemku, tzv. vonkajšie úpravy ako spevnené plochy, oplotenia, vstupy na pozemok, zavlažovanie pozemkov a pod. Zákon zavádza fikciu súhlasu dotknutého orgánu, ak sa žiadateľovi nevyjadrí v zákonom stanovenej lehote 30, resp. 60 dní, čo urýchli proces prerokovania stavebného zámeru. Kniha se věnuje působení šlechty ve veřejném životě Československé a Rakouské republiky v období mezi světovými válkami. Pozornost soustředí především na její činnost v obou armádách, diplomacii a politice těchto států. Autoři odpovídají na otázku, do jaké míry byla šlechta ochotna se veřejně angažovat po rozpadu rakousko-uherské monarchie a ustavení republikánských režimů. Identifikují přitom shody, ale i rozdíly v přístupu šlechticů v Československu a Rakousku. Konstatují, že v obou případech šlechta a zejména její nejelitnější část, aristokracie, vnímala nové poměry se značnou nedůvěrou. Na příkladech konkrétních šlechticů i šlechtičen kniha současně prokazuje, že zejména v Rakousku se aristokracie na situaci poměrně rychle adaptovala a stala se spojencem konzervativních politických sil soustředěných jak v křesťanskosociální straně, tak v domobraně polovojenského charakteru zvané Heimwehr. Současně dokládá obdobný, byť méně nápadný posun ve vnímání československé reality šlechtou ve třicátých letech dvacátého století. Důvody autoři spatřují mimo jiné v nacistické hrozbě, která vedla aristokracii v Československu i Rakousku k vlasteneckým postojům a tím i vyšší míře angažovanosti.

This is the revolutionary as living out the Beckettian motto: 'Try again. Fail again. Fail better.' In Zizek's hands, this becomes the formula for confronting the antagonisms of existing world order. This Element offers a fresh treatment of the two cycles of reduction-emergence debates in the sciences and their 'reductionist' and 'emergentist' positions. It suggests philosophers have neglected the compositional models/explanations, and 'endogenous' kind of metaphysics, central to these debates. It highlights how such endogenous metaphysics underpins what is termed the 'Dynamic Cycle,' by which scientists develop novel ontological concepts to underwrite new models/explanations to solve scientific problems. And it subsequently shows that the 'reductionist' and 'emergentist' views in the scientific debates follow the Dynamic Cycle. In the first cycle of debates, in the early twentieth century, the Element outlines how 'everyday reductionism' pioneered a novel family of compositional models/explanations in one of the most successful research movements in twentieth-century science. And, in present debates, it frames contemporary emergentist positions offering ontological innovations, underwriting new families of models, to address problems at the cutting-edge of twenty-first-century science.

This Element leverages a comparative approach to understand how conspiracy theories and their believers differ within and across countries. This Element assesses the claim that Central Asian countries hold a special position as Russia''s near abroad. The region has been important for millennia, and only after conquest in the second half of the nineteenth century did Russia become important for Central Asia. This connection became stronger after 1917 as Central Asia was integrated into the Soviet economy, with rail, roads, and pipelines all leading north to Russia. After independence, these connections were gradually modified by new trade links and by new infrastructure, while Russia''s demand for unskilled labour during the 1999?2014 oil boom created a new economic dependency for Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. In 1991, political independence could not be accompanied by economic independence, but over the next three decades economic dependence on Russia was reduced, and the Central Asian countries have felt increasingly able to adopt political positions independent of Russia.

The police force is one of the most distrusted institutions in Pakistan, notorious for its corruption and brutality. In both colonial and postcolonial contexts, directives to confront security threats have empowered law enforcement agents, while the lack of adequate reform has upheld institutional weaknesses.This exploration of policing in Karachi, Pakistan''s largest city and financial capital, reveals many colonial continuities. Both civilian and military regimes continue to ensure the suppression of the policed via this institution, itself established to militarily subjugate and exploit in the interests of the ruling class. However, contemporary policing practice is not a simple product of its colonial heritage: it has also evolved to confront new challenges and political realities.Based on extensive fieldwork and around 200 interviews, this ethnographic study reveals a distinctly ''postcolonial condition of policing''. Mutually reinforcing phenomena of militarisation and informality have been exacerbated by an insecure state that routinely conflates combatting crime, maintaining public order and ensuring national security. This is evident not only in spectacular displays of violence and malpractice, but also in police officers'' routine work. Caught in the middle of the country''s armed conflicts, their encounters with both state and society are a story of insecurity and uncertainty.

Instrumentum navis: Le ancore litiche e plumbee della Soprintendenza del Mare della Regione Siciliana is the result of a study carried out in collaboration with the Sicilian Region''s Superintendency of the Sea. It concerns the study of all the lithic, lead and metal anchors from the Sicilian underwater environment, deposited in the rooms of the Arsenal of the Royal Navy in Palermo, in the warehouse of the former Roosevelt Institute in Addaura, and in the courtyard of Palazzetto Mirto in Palermo, the headquarters of the Superintendency of the Sea.The study on the anchors was conducted through an extensive census, documentation and archive study that offered a chance to understand the numerical consistency of the property and its value.The census and cataloguing activity continued with historical research on the types of anchors over the centuries and the impact they had on navigation, routes and ports in ancient times, as well as on the birth of the underwater collection in Sicily and the creation of the Superintendency of the Sea, which has carefully and innovatively managed the entire Sicilian underwater archaeological sector over the last twenty years.For the anchors described here, and through the entry registers and ancient publications, it was possible to trace the data on the places where the anchors were found, which covered the entire coastline of Sicily, including the smaller islands, thus providing the starting point for the creation of a digital mapping of the finds through the G.I.S. (Geographic Information System) and providing a guideline for future research.
