V Stesichorovej poéme Herakles zabije okrídleného netvora Géryona, aby získal jeho stádo červeného dobytka. Carson si Géryona predstavuje po svojom: ako dospievajúceho červeného chlapca s krídlami, ktorý sa prvý raz zamiluje. Herakles vystúpi z medzimestskej linky na autobusovej stanici, vkročí Géryonovi do života a zlomí mu srdce. The Planets

Druhá zbierka poézie Bibiany Buchelovej je akýmsi vnútorným pokračovaním prvej zbierky, v ktorej autorka zároveň rozširuje a prehlbuje svoj poetický záber. Básne, ktoré sú intímnymi lyrickými reflexiami, sa okrem precíznej práce so slovom a zaujímavým pohľadom na možno bežné témy života, akými sú partnerské vzťahy, láska medzi mužom a ženou, vrúcny vzťah k deťom a rodine, vyznačujú krásnou symbiózou s krajinou, prírodou doma, na Slovensku, ale aj na cestách a prinášajú pozitívny čitateľský zážitok. To ale neznamená, že autorka vo svojej poézii nie je citlivá aj na temnejšie stránky života. S nesmiernou vnímavosťou zaznamenáva aj rodinné tragédie, smrť priateľky ako aj vlastné ťaživé emócie. Básne sú zrelou reflexiou, prelínaním všetkých vrstiev i farieb života, napísané básnickými prostriedkami, ktoré sa vynárajú nenútene a prirodzene, akoby rástli z vnútornej potreby autorky vyjadriť intímne nálady a vnútorné súvislosti.
Ithaca
Ithaca consists of sixty sonnets divided into two equal parts, “Ithaca” and “Gifts Reserved for Age.” In Homer’s Odyssey, Ithaca is the island home to which the hero returns after twenty years of war and perilous adventures. In Lehman’s “Ithaca” sequence, two phrases are strategically repeated, with variations: “Happy the man who . . .” and “What did he believe in?” In “Gifts Reserved for Age,” the restless traveler continues to recollect and make sense of his life. Ultimate questions are raised: Does God exist? Can art redeem reality and not just contrive ways to escape from it? What are the compensatory “gifts” that accompany growing old? Lehman, who has resided for many years in Ithaca, New York, does inventive things with the sonnet as a form and the sonnet sequence as the organizing principle of a unified book. Rich in allusion, not only to Homer’s epic but to a shelf of important writers and thinkers, Ithaca is a witty and erudite book for grown-up readers who look to poetry for inspiration, profundity, and intellectual stimulation.

Zbierka myšlienok a krátkych básní s tematikou života, žitia a vzťahov človeka-jednotlivca k svojmu okoliu vychádza z najhlbšieho vnútra banskobystrického autora a hudobníka Ivana Masaryka. Bielou cestou si ma viedla
Výber z celoživotnej tvorby Antonia Machada (1875 – 1939), jedného z najsilnejších španielskych básnikov prvej polovice 20. storočia, prináša poéziu presvedčivej emócie a účinnej prostoty.
Popri melancholickej lyrike, v ktorej pokračuje v cykle reagujúcom na smrť mladučkej manželky, a neskorších básňach venovaných novej „zakázanej“ láske sa predstavuje viacrozmerným reflektovaním kastílskej krajiny, osobitne jej temnej tváre.
Temné rozmery jeho poézie akoby predznamenávali, že sa autor stane obeťou občianskej vojny.

Once dismissed by influential critics as a noble failure, a view that hardened into conventional wisdom, it is now widely regarded as one of the major achievements of twentieth-century American poetry.
