. . . AGAIN

Award-winning poet Mark Nowak returns with a harrowing documentation of the expansive landscape of MAGAmerica. Told through five abecedarian prose sections, . . . AGAIN is a photo-text commentary on MAGAism in America. In his sobering voice, Nowak captures the depredations of capitalism, the desensitizing regularity of mass shootings, and the extremism that has fueled white nationalism. From the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic and the January 6 insurrection through Donald Trump’s re-election, Nowak chronicles the transformations as the seasons change around him, attempting to make sense of a bitterly divided nation that elected a polarizing figurehead . . . again.

The Museum of Unnatural Histories

Whiting Award 2025 Winner in PoetryThis extraordinary debut poetry collection by Dena'ina poet Annie Wenstrup delicately parses personal history in the space of an imagined museum. Outside the museum, Ggugguyni (the Dena'ina Raven) and The Museum Curator collect discarded French fries, earrings, and secrets—or as the curator explains, together they curate moments of cataclysm. Inside the museum, their collection is displayed in installations that depict the imagined Indigenous body. Into this "distance between the learning and the telling," Wenstrup inserts The Curator and her sukdu'a, her own interpretive text. At the heart of the sukdu'a is the desire to find a form that allows the speaker's story to be heard. Through love letters, received forms, and found text, the poems reclaim their right to interpret, reinvent, and even disregard artifacts of their own mythos. Meticulously refined and delicately crafted, they encourage the reader to "decide/who you must become."

Flowers and Insects, Some Birds and a Pair of Spiders

Forty years after it was first published, Ted Hughes's Flowers and Insects, Some Birds and a Pair of Spiders is presented in a beautifully redesigned edition with a new introduction by the nature writer Tim Dee. The sixteen poems gathered here brim and bristle with the life Hughes generates from the absolute attention he commits to whatever it is he is looking at. His knack for finding a language to animate its subject, without a trace of sentiment or nostalgia, singles out Hughes as one of the truly great poet-interpreters of the natural world. This edition gives full justice to the subtlety of the original watercolour illustrations, produced by Hughes's long-term collaborator and friend, the American artist, Leonard Baskin.

The Summer We Crossed Europe in the Rain

Memorably introduced by Ishiguro himself, The Summer We crossed Europe in the Rain collects the sixteen song lyrics he has written since 2007 for world-renowned American singer, Stacey Kent, which were set to music by her partner Jim Tomlinson. An exquisite coming together of the literary and musical worlds, the lyrics are infused with a sense of yearning, melancholy, love, and the romance of travel and liminal spaces. Further exploring the notion of collaboration and interpretation, the collection is illustrated by the acclaimed Italian artist, Bianca Bagnarelli whose work perfectly captures the atmosphere and sensibility of the songs.

Material Witness

Material Witness, Edward Ragg's sixth collection, bears witness to all manner of materials: from botany, bower birds, diving bell spiders, rock formations and coral reefs to a Nazi-stamped photo of the poet’s mother as well as Dante’s Divine Comedy and the Las Meninas paintings of Velázquez and Picasso. In three sections — ‘Scenes’, ‘Acts’, ‘Aftermaths’ — Material Witness reveals an interlinking architecture, constructing a poetry profoundly wedded to the physical universe and variously concerned with love, family history, the natural world, even the simple act of stirring a cup of tea. This is a poetry that conjures in all senses ‘the strange companionship of materials’.

Tender

Tender is the hilarious and heart-warming new collection from World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker, which sees him turn his attention to the topic of fatherhood for the first time. It captures all the tiny, fragile, perfect moments of new life and, with it, new parenthood. Full of sleepless wonder and with his characteristic wit and warmth, Harry Baker offers snapshots into the intense first 100 days with his son as they get to know each other. A yawn from a tiny pink mouth, a kind word from a stranger on a difficult day, the weight of a body sleeping against your chest - parents will recognise both themselves and their children in Tender and find consolation in this collection.

Prague in Thaw / Praha za času plujících ker

Básnická sbírka profesora Rio Preisnera Prague in Thaw (Praha za časů plujících ker) vyšla poprvé česky roku 1992 v nakladatelství Pražská imaginace.

Behind the State Capitol: Or Cincinnati Pike

With the original remaining copies destroyed in a 1982 arson fire at the Fag Rag/Good Gay Poets offices, a beloved cult classic returns to print for the first time in five decadesAlready known as a "poet''s poet," John Wieners (1934–2002) moved to Boston''s Beacon Hill in 1972, where he was involved with anti-war and gay liberation movements and organizations devoted to the rights of people with mental health conditions. Out of this milieu emerged Behind the State Capitol, described by its author as "Cinema decoupages; verses, abbreviated prose insights." It is the record of a poet whose life has been shattered by poverty, drug addiction and mental illness. Wieners creates a complex schizo-analysis of language, capitalism, incarceration and state power, while reflecting on unpopular themes of aging and loneliness in the gay world.Considered by many to be his poetical masterpiece, the book was met variously with indifference and outrage when it was published in 1975. In 1982, most remaining copies of the book were destroyed in the Fag Rag/Good Gay Poets arson. Available in print for the first time in 50 years, this revitalized edition contains new afterwords by Wieners'' friend James Dunn and the poet''s biographer Robert Dewhurst.

Dream Latitudes

I am drawing a map of distances. The swimmer. The sleeper. The dreamer. Another afternoon traipsing the incomprehensiblecorridors of the brain. Nothing uttered. Alia Kobuszko's poetry is as immediate as it is mysterious. She is unafraid of detonating form or trusting a quiet phrase, and saturates these poems with surreal and sensuous aspects. In this enchanting and piercing debut, strange horses gallop - embodying metamorphic freedom and power. The speaker becomes the rider, the horse itself and even the field, enacting how the poet inhabits and unanchors their subject so that 'girl and horse / stand still- / field runs through them.'

Renewal

Much admired by Nobel laureate Derek Walcott, the poetry of the St Lucian poet Irvin Desir is published here for the first time. Often visionary, these poems contain such images as “fireflies heave for heaven” and “you filled this cluttered room like a handful of clove”. Published in only a few anthologies during his life, this posthumous collection at last brings to our attention a voice too long unknown. Islander viiI shall see you through the cold shoreline where the wind carries and slides over the sandwherever we search death haunts us everywhere the distracted petals have goneour words fade, fade like mist over the mountain our words add to the silence like lifting dust.

Rarum – niečo vzácne a zriedkavé.

Její poezie navazuje na tradici moderního evropského myšlení i expresivní lyriky – zaznívají v ní tóny Holanovského patosu i současné introspektivní citlivosti.
