Carsten Höller invites readers to disrupt their daily lives with 336 mind-expanding diversions. They can be played alone, in pairs or in teams, in the street, in bed, on a train, wherever. No props or materials are needed. Just one body, all senses and a willingness to try something new, that's possibly conceptually or physically challenging, but guaranteed to entertain and to widen the player's horizons. Some games are more obviously daring than others - unexpectedly shouting 'bang!' when your driver's reversing into a parking space is sure to elicit a reaction - but that's absolutely the point. Other games involve covertly dropping strange phrases into conversation, executing somersaults (without practice), or plucking hairs from your opponent's head while they stay poker-faced. Höller's scientific professional background informs his keenness to create what he calls Influential Environments. He wants to tease the brain while testing its limitations, through activity and passivity, agency and inertia. He conceived his first game with a group of friends in 1992, during a tedious dinner after an exhibition opening. Slovensko - anglická monografia Architekt Ľudovít Oelchläger – Dielo na Ukrajine, prináša čitateľovi na 344 stranách nielen charakteristiku všestrannej osobnosti významného medzivojnového košického architekta, ale dokumentuje tiež životné osudy Oelschlägera a jeho rodiny od jeho šťastného detstva prežitého v jednom z najkrajších miest vtedajšieho Horného Uhorska, sprevádza ho cez turbulentné historické udalosti prvej svetovej vojny, aj živote tesne po nej. Monografia predstavuje cenný príspevok do materiálovej a analytickej bázy pre výskum dejín modernej slovenskej architektúry prvej polovice 20. storočia. Nadväzujúc na prvé spracovanie života a diela architekta v monografii vydanej v závere roku 2012 – Architekt Oelschläger - ?ry (cena prof. Kusého), kniha prináša nové poznatky k téme, získané pokračujúcim dlhodobým archívnym výskumom realizovaným na Slovensku, v Maďarsku a najmä na Ukrajine. V novembri 2024 získala táto kniha cenu prof. Kusého od Spolku slovenských architektov.

Jméno Petr Parléř je v obecném povědomí neodmyslitelně spojené s osobností Karla IV. a svatovítským chrámem. Méně se už ví, že tento stavitel, kameník, sochař a řezbář byl mezi architekty středoevropské gotiky výjimečnou osobností, geniálním a odvážným novátorem. Svým dílem otevřel cestu k další, vrcholné etapě středoevropské gotické architektury, nazývané někdy dokonce podle něj parléřovskou gotikou. Narodil se roku 1332 nebo 1333 v Gmündu nebo v Kolíně nad Rýnem. Na těchto místech tehdy působil jeho otec, stavitel Heinrich Parler z rozvětvené a slavné německé stavitelské rodiny. Český král a římský císař Karel IV. jmenoval Petra Parléře do čela stavební huti již jako třiadvacetiletého mladíka. Huť pod jeho vedením stavěla Karlův most se Staroměstskou mosteckou věží, chór kostela svatého Bartoloměje v Kolíně, části staroměstského kostela Matky Boží před Týnem a další.

Dílu barokního architekta Jana Blažeje Santiniho Aichela (1677–1723) je přikládán mimořádný význam nejen českými historiky umění, ale též širší kulturní veřejností, u které získal popularitu zejména díky fenoménu tzv. barokní gotiky a stavbám se symbolickými půdorysy, jež jsou mnohdy laicky spojovány s různými mystickými, až ezoterickými významy. Kniha se pokouší o dialog s dosavadními interpretacemi Santiniho díla a hledá odpověď na otázku, jaké jsou skutečné hodnoty jeho architektury v evropském kontextu a co jsou naopak spíše nánosy postupně vznikající „legendy o Santinim“.

Mezioborové výzvy Městské prostředí bylo od středověku prostorem inovací. Od 13. století byla města v české a moravské sociokulturní krajině součástí mohutného transformačního procesu, který zásadním způsobem proměnil celou společnost. Dopady této komplexní proměny pociťujeme dodnes, i když v mnoha ohledech byly překryty procesy moderní industrializace a pozdější deindustrializace, politické liberalizace, zestátnění v socialistické éře i polistopadové radikálně tržní transformace. Tyto změny se sice povětšinou dotýkaly celé společnosti, avšak právě v městském prostředí, jež se mezitím stalo bydlištěm většiny obyvatelstva, byly v dějinném období od středověku po současnost nejmarkantnější. Každá transformace ale pro městskou společnost vždy představovala jisté ohrožení, které mohlo vyústit v úspěšnou racionální reakci, nebo také úpadek či zánik. Moderní města čelí v dnešní době nejrůznějším výzvám: politickým, hospodářským, sociálním a ekologickým. Cílem knihy Město jako laboratoř změny je ukázat, že spojením pohledů nejrůznějších odborných disciplín (archeologie, historie, sociologie, politologie či klimatologie) můžeme nahlédnout historické kořeny současných problémů, odpovědně přistupovat k budoucnosti.
