Umění a řemeslo Střední Asie
Střední Asie, která je v současném politicko-geografickém významu chápána jako území pěti postsovětských států Uzbekistánu, Tádžikistánu, Kyrgyzstánu, Turkmenistánu a částečně Kazachstánu, prošla pestrým historickým vývojem, během něhož vstřebávala impulzy různých kulturních vlivů a vytvořila si tak podmínky pro vznik svébytného výtvarného projevu. Umělecký vývoj oblasti si do určité míry udržuje kontinuitu z minulých dob až do současnosti, jež je patrná v tradičních uměleckořemeslných odvětvích. Mezi nejvýznamnější bezpochyby patří textilní tvorba a šperkařství. Za jednu z důležitých etap z hlediska ještě kvalitní uměleckořemeslné produkce lze považovat období od druhé poloviny 19. do počátku 20. století, z něhož máme k dispozici mnoho dokladů, jež se staly základem pro revitalizaci tradičních uměleckých řemesel. Tu nastartovalo vyhlášení nezávislosti na Sovětském svazu v roce 1991, kdy se středoasijské státy v rámci národního sebeuvědomění a hledání nové identity začaly navracet ke kulturním odkazům a tradičním hodnotám.

Prvý diel z plánovaného cyklu Ľubomíra Longauera Úžitková grafika na Slovensku po roku 1918 nesie názov Modernosť tradície. Autor sa venuje začiatkom slovenskej úžitkovej grafiky.
