"A biedermeier művészete rövid korszak kultúrája. E kurta periódus azonban jelentős, különösen az enteriőrművészetben. A Habsburg-birodalom polgárságának családi miliőjében életre hívta azt, amit azóta otthonnak nevezünk: a falak, a bútorok, a függönyök, a szőnyegek és a kedves, apró berendezési tárgyak összehangolt, lakályos együttesét.

Ladislav Hodný (1943):
Od dětství toužil malovat, zprvu splnil přání svého otce a stal, stejně jako on, uměleckým knihařem. V osmdesátých letech minulého století byl dokonce dvorním knihařem Lyry Pragensis, což byla ve své době prestižní a svým způsobem nezávislá umělecká instituce. Logicky tak ve své výtvarné tvorbě zprvu navazoval na svá předchozí díla.
Těžiště tvorby zajímají abstraktní velkoformátová plátna. Ve skutečnosti přenáší motivy a techniky z knižních vazeb do velkých ploch a je až zvláštní, jak lehce dosahuje dokonalé harmonické rovnováhy ve svých obrazech. Inspiruje ho hudba, miluje jazz, krajina, ale sám říká, že jeho inspirací je vlastně vše a malování jej osvobozuje. Je to jeho nitěrný soukromý duševní ráj, naplněný intenzivními pocity rozkoše, radosti a vzrušení. Často kombinuje na obrazech různé techniky, vrstvení, proškrabávání, krakelování a využívá i zlatou fólii. Typickým znakem jeho tvorby je expresivní barevnost, harmonizující s Hodného osobním cítěním.
Ladislav Hodný se zúčastnil mnoha mezinárodních sympozií, kromě jiného i v roce 1997 Helen Warren Triennial Exhibition and Award for America Booking. Je členem Jednoty výtvarných umělců, Asociace jihočeských výtvarníků, členem Book Art Center v New Yorku a také členem Designer Book Binders v Londýně.
Jeho tvorba je zastoupena v mnoha sbírkách po celém světě, ale i v UMPRUM v Praze či v Moravském zemském muzeu v Brně.
