Mgr. art Miroslav Knap (1973) sa venuje voľnej maľbe a grafike, ex librisu, knižnej ilustrácii a úžitkovej grafike. V rokoch 1988 - 1991 študoval na Strednej umelecko - priemyselnej škole v Kremnici, v rokoch 1991 - 1997 na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení v Bratislave (odbor voľnej grafiky a knižnej ilustrácie, prof. D. Kállay). V rámci diplomovej práce vytvoril sériu ilustrácií k renesančnému románu Francoise Rabelaisa: Gargantua a Pantagruel, ktorého ideová náplň, sarkazmus, všadeprítomná groteska a nadsádzka, poskytli nevyčerpateľný zdroj informácií pre vývin jeho tvorby, v rámci ktorej využíva vo svojich dielach fantazijno - surreálnu symboliku. Vypracoval si vlastný umelecký jazyk poučený odkazom minulosti (H. Bosch), modifikáciami podnetov moderného umenia, vrátane magického realizmu a surrealizmu. To ho zaraďuje medzi tzv. fantazijných realistov v slovenskom výtvarnom umení. Monografia o živote a tvorbe Miroslava Knapa prináša prienik do hĺbok fantázie umelca, ktorý patrí k osobitým zjavom súčasného slovenského výtvarného umenia. Dôraz kladie na fakt, že hodnota umenia pramení zo snov, predstáv a túžob, ktoré stelesňujú podstatu ľudského života a sveta pretaveného cez naše vnútro. Kniha pozostáva z hlavného textu, biografie umelca, faktografických údajov, citácií textov viacerých odborníkov a kritikov sledujúcich umelcovu tvorbu a bohatej obrazovej prílohy. Jej grafická podoba a polygrafické spracovanie je realizované na vysokej úrovni. Spracovaná je v anglickej jazykovej mutácii. Možno predpokladať, že sa stane dôležitým príspevkom do oblasti výskumu súčasného slovenského výtvarného umenia a jeho prezentácie doma a v zahraničí.

Maľby pochádzajú z rokov 1946 – 1997 a vďaka systematickej zberateľskej činnosti Galérie Nedbalka je možné sledovať celý vývoj autorovej tvorby. Koincidencia
So zásadami surrealistického umenia sa Guderna zoznámil v štyridsiatych rokoch 20. storočia, keď študoval u Jána Mudrocha a dostal sa do úzkeho kontaktu s predstaviteľmi nadrealizmu. Už vtedy objavoval jazyk snov a podnecoval svoju predstavivosť k inému videniu sveta. V tomto tvorivom období však ešte zostával na poli poetického zobrazenia a zásady surrealistickej tvorby naplno rozvinul až v Kanade.
Guderna tieto základné princípy surrealizmu rozvinul do osobitej podoby. Zmyselnosť a erotika sú v jeho dielach prítomné v rôznych podobách, raz len v náznaku, inokedy vo všetkých tvaroch a farbách. Život se s námi někdy nemazlí a člověk taková období řeší, jak umí. A já začala kreslit stromy. Uzdravovala jsem sebe samu tím, že jsem kreslila. Z reakce lidí, kteří mé obrázky viděli, jsem pochopila, že pomáhají i jim. Tak vznikla tato knížka.

Sonia Delaunay
Sonia Delaunay (1885 - 1979) is one of the most important female artists of the early twentieth century, whose contribution to the European avant-garde was fundamental. Russian-born, she moved to Paris in 1906 where she studied at the Academie de la Palette. Her early work was infl uenced by the bold Fauvist paintings of Matisse, Gauguin and Van Gogh among others. Shifting her interest to abstraction, she celebrated the modern world and urban life, exploring ideas of colour theory together with her husband Robert Delaunay. She also collaborated with artists and poets such as Guillaume Apollinaire and Blaise Cendrars with whom she created the acclaimed book Prose on the Transsiberian Railway and of Little Jehanne of France. After spending time in Spain and Portugal during the First World War, Delaunay returned to Paris in the 1920s where she translated her experiments in painting into the realm of fashion. She collaborated with the Metz & Co textile department in Amsterdam and Liberty in London and also produced individual items of clothing under commission. Her interest in fashion expanded into theatre and cinema, for which she created costumes and designs for film sets.
During the Second World War and soon after, she participated in the creation of the Salon des Realites Nouvelles (1939) and developed her interest in different media, creating mosaics, tapestries and lithographs. In the same period, her paintings and gouaches evoked a renewed interest in abstraction and colour, marking her seminal role in the development of postwar abstract and applied art. With over 250 illustrations and ground-breaking essays by prominent curators and art historians, this publication seeks to throw new light on the multifaceted work of this prolifi c artist.
