SkateArt - From the Object to the Artwork
The 2000s proved a turning point for the skateboard and its relationship to art. Previously restricted to practical use, the skate deck left the pavement to appear on the walls of galleries and auction houses. Such was the advent of an entirely new contemporary art movement, laconically baptised Skate Art. From silk-screening to Posca markers, from repurposing and twisted shapes to upcycling broken boards, this volume provides an overview of the most significant techniques and decks of the last two decades. Artists from the realm of Street Art have long had a close relationship with Skate culture, and figures like Shepard Fairey, D*Face and ROA are among the first to have applied their art to this support. At the other end of the spectrum, Mark Gonzales, Thomas Campbell and Ed Templeton are pure products of the skater world, and it was through their collaborations with brands to produce boards that they acceded to the title of artist. In its 320 pages, this anthology presents a specialised and eclectic selection of decks made by artists from all over the world.

Výpravná publikace přináší průřez tvorbou keramičky, sochařky, malířky a pedagožky Jindry Vikové. Jak ale sama říká, kniha není retrospektivním ohlédnutím, spíše se jedná o svého druhu deník emocí, představ a myšlenek, vyjádřených kresbou, koláží, asambláží, sochou nebo reliéfem.
Viková ve své tvorbě ráda čelí nečekaným výzvám, použití nových technik se pro ni stává vždy impulzem, který posouvá její tvorbu nejen po formální stránce, ale především ji vyzývá k uchopení nových témat.
V tom zcela přirozeně navazuje na Bělu Kolářovou, s její hravou vášní pro experiment, jehož prostřednictvím vyjadřuje mnohem závažnější souvislosti, než se může na první pohled zdát.

Drag & Draw
This book highlights two series of little known drawings from the 1950's, drawings where Andy Warhol first explored the controversial and for him deeply personal subject of drag. His oeuvre during the first decade of his career, before he became the god father of Pop, has proven to be enormously influential on his life's work but remains little known.
In 1953, Warhol created two unique series of drawings, quite different from his commissioned work. In one series, he developed an ensemble of spirited wome n that were derived from photographs of stage divas and ? of men in drag. He delved deeper into the art of dressing as the opposite sex with his second series, a set of portraits of men posing in high and low drag. This book considers Warhol's work and its d ebt to newly discovered photographs that his friend, photographer Otto Fenn, staged explicitly for Warhol’s purpose. Giacometti
This comprehensive survey of the work of the Swiss-born modern master Alberto Giacometti offers a fresh and incisive account of his entire creative output. Published on the occasion of Giacometti’s first major museum presentation in the U.S. in over a decade, the volume brings together nearly 200 sculptures, paintings and drawings to trace the artist’s wide-ranging and hugely innovative engagement with the human form across various mediums. While Giacometti may be best known for his distinct figurative sculptures that emerged after World War II, including a series of elongated standing women, striding men and expressive busts, this volume devotes equal attention to the artist’s early and midcareer development. It explores his lesser-known engagement with Cubism and Surrealism as well as African, Oceanic and Cycladic art, which preceded his shift to figuration, while also highlighting his remarkable talents as a draftsman and painter alongside his sculptural oeuvre. Of particular focus is Giacometti’s studio practice, which is examined through rarely seen plaster sculptures that highlight the artist’s working process, in addition to ephemera and historical photographs documenting his relationship with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum – which hosted the artist’s first U.S. exhibition, in 1955 – and with New York City.
Hokusai
Hokusai, a grand protagonist of ukiyo-e , his legacy and powerful influence on European art.
Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849), an unchallenged master of ukiyo-e , the Floating World, active between the late 1700s and the first-half of the 1800s, stands out on the art scene not only for his Great Wave and the series Thirty-six V iews of Mount Fuji of which the print is a part, but also his great versatility expressed in his treatment of all types of subjects: from landscapes to nature, kabuki actor portraits, beautiful women, warriors and even ghosts and spirits, semi-legendary beings and animals. Hokusai is also associated with many changes: of residence, of name (over thirty, even though the main ones are six), of style, with dozens of followers, each of which, in some way, represents one aspect in the Master’s vast oeuvre. These include Shinsai, Hokkei and Gakutei who influenced the following generation of artists, together with another individual, who is not considered a direct student of Hokusai but who nonetheless determined in an interesting way the developments in prints of beauty and landscape from 1810 to 1830: Keisai Eisen.
Through a selection of over 250 works from the Municipal Museum of Chiba and other Japanese collections, this publication offers a reading of Hokusai that also includes his legacy, accompanying and comparing his output with that by others who followed in his footsteps and gave life to new lines, forms and balances of colour within the classic themes of ukiyo-e and landscape, nature, beauty, actors, heroes and warriors.

The development of painting in London from the Second World War to the 1970s is the story of interlinking friendships, shared experiences and artistic concerns among a number of acclaimed artists, including Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Frank Auerbach, David Hockney, Bridget Riley, Gillian Ayres, Frank Bowling and Howard Hodgkin.

Hledání českobratrského výtvarnictví
Publikace se vydává po stopách výtvarného umění v kostelech a modlitebnách Českobratrské církve evangelické, kde obvykle pro silný vliv reformované tradice výtvarná díla příliš neočekáváme, a kde přitom přesto můžeme objevit zajímavé umělecké počiny. Ve snaze nabídnout východiska k interpretaci těchto nálezů pátrá text knihy po důvodech, pro které výtvarná díla do reformovaného prostředí postupně pronikají, zkoumá kontexty, do nichž vstupují, zjišťuje, jakou funkci v rámci bohoslužebného provozu plní a jakých významů nabývají, a všímá si podob, jež na sebe při tom berou. Umenie nekúpiš / Art Cannot Be Bought
Milan Tittel (2. 10. 1966, Litomyšl) je popredný slovenský umelec svojej generácie. V povedomí širokej kultúrnej verejnosti to však nie je príliš známe: jeho umelecký prínos bol rozptýlený najmä v skupinových aktivitách. Milan Tittel je totiž kolektívny hráč a svoju tvorbu predstavoval takmer výlučne v spolupráci s inými výtvarníkmi. Až v posledných rokoch sa výrazne odlíšil od ostatných, aj vďaka sústavnej prezentácii na sociálnych sieťach. Milan Tittel sa stal facebookovým umelcom, vo svojej generácii ojedinelým.
Milan Tittel je tiež preformerom a videoumelcom. V poslednom čase najviac pracuje s nájdenými objektmi (môžu to byť aj živé organizmy a ľudské „živé sochy"), prípadne s ich kombináciami. Niektoré diela odkazujú na bizarné neodadaistické zostavy predmetov, ale najzaujímavejšie si pohrávajú s efemérnymi prvkami a hmotami, stelesňujú tak akúsi zenovú meditáciu v materiáli.
Milan Tittel (October 10, 1966, Litomyšl) is one of the most prominent Slovak artists of his generation. However, the general public is not aware of this fact because his artistic talent was diffused, especially within group activities. Milan Tittel is a team player and he presents his work almost exclusively in cooperation with other artists. However, thanks to constant social network exposure, he has recently begun to distinguish himself from others. He has become a facebook artist, a rare accomplishment in his generation.
Tittel is also a performer and video-artist. Recently he has focused on objet trouvé - found objects (including living organisms and human "living statues") and their combinations. Some works refer to bizarre neo-Dadaistic combinations of objects, but the most interesting ones play with ephemeral elements and masses, thus embodying a kind of Zen meditation.
