Picassovy paradoxy
Mojmír Grygar v esejistické studii o Picassově malířském a výtvarném díle polemizuje s autory, kteří do té míry zdůrazňují proměnlivé peripetie jeho životopisu, že jim podřizují i vznik a proměny malířova mnohotvárného díla. Autor přechází od rozboru strukturních a slohových zvláštností jednotlivých fází Picassova díla k vystižení jeho vývojových proměn. Picassovy paradoxy spočívají v přítomnosti protikladných sil, které znesnadňují jednoduchou charakteristiku jeho tvorby. Picasso v průběhu bezmála osmdesáti let střídal citové a racionální přístupy, intimní a monumentální témata, stylizované i destruktivní proměny tvarů anorganického a organického světa. Svou tvorbu neohraničil v rámci jednoho slohu, tematiky nebo žánru, tvůrčí postupy měnil a střídal spíš podle principu rozporu a popření než postupného rozvíjení. V jeho tvůrčím naturelu převládá nadvláda agresivní aktivity (šamanství) nad pozitivní vyvážeností estetického zřetele. Autor polemizuje s popisným biografismem, ale osobní a společenské okolnosti malířova života doplňuje cennými postřehy sociologické a psychologické charakteristiky. Také pasáže věnované mezinárodnímu kontextu Picassova díla přinášejí nové poznatky; týká se to zejména jeho vlivu na ruskou avantgardu. Bilingválna publikácia – monografia výtvarníka, sklára (1946 – 1997), ktorý patrí medzi najvýznamnejšie osobnosti slovenského umeleckého skla. Univerzálny tvorca – sochár, dizajnér a šperkár v jednej osobe. Vizionár a praktik, ktorý objavoval nové technologické možnosti skla a aplikoval ich vo svojej tvorbe. Napriek tomu, že sa jeho životná cesta predčasne uzavrela, zanechal za sebou mimoriadny a ucelený odkaz. S jeho dielami sa možno dnes stretnúť v kultúrno-spoločenských interiéroch na Slovensku a vo verejných aj súkromných zbierkach doma i v zahraničí. Dôležitou bola i jeho pedagogická činnosť na Vysokej škole výtvarných umení v Bratislave, kde v 80. rokoch viedol oddelenie sklárskeho výtvarníctva.

Ramblings of a Wannabe Painter

Dubuffet Drawings, 1935–1962

Art Deco Sculpture
This book showcases and puts into historical context a host of sculpted works created in the 1920s and 1930s in the decorative vernacular defined loosely today as ‘Art Deco’. Whether designed as free-standing statuary for the domestic market or commissioned for some form of architectural placement, as a frieze on a building’s façade or as a public monument or pool fountain, the works shown demonstrate a sometimes bewilderingly broad range of styles and stylistic influences: from the chevrons, sunbursts, maidens, fountains, floral abstractions and ubiquitous biche (doe) of the Parisian geometric style to the crisp, angular patterns of the zig-zag, jazz-age, streamlined aesthetic of the 1930s.

Kronikář nových časů
Hugo Boettinger byl vyhledávaným portrétistou vyšších vrstev, tvůrcem křehkých dívčích aktů a zároveň autorem humoristických kreseb a karikatur známým širokému publiku jako Dr. Desiderius. Boettingerovy především portrétní kresby byly výjimečně populární a během jeho života byly mnohokrát vystavovány a publikovány.
Ve dvacátých letech se s humoristickými kresbami Huga Boettingera podepisovanými pseudonymem Dr. Desiderius často setkávali čtenáři Lidových novin, Prager Presse, Světozoru a řady dalších periodik. Kresby byly také vydány v několika albech. Jeho výstavy v Praze i v menších městech budily pravidelně velký zájem publika i tisku a jeho veselá dílka se na výstavách také velmi rychle prodávala. Roku 1923 při příležitosti Boettingerovy výstavy v Topičově salonu v Praze, na niž se doslova stály fronty, konstatoval kritik Václav Nebeský, že "není snad této chvíle druhého českého malíře, který těšil by se větší oblibě v kruzích nejširších, nad karikaturistu Hugo Boettingera".
