Jana Osterkamp si v knize Řád v rozmanitosti vytkla za cíl prozkoumat prozatím nedostatečně zpracovanou problematiku federalizace habsburské monarchie. Za katalyzátor federalizačních úvah považuje revoluční události, politické krize (revoluce 1848/1849, ústavodárná léta 1860/1861, k národnostnímu vyrovnání směřující rok 1867/1868, propuknutí první světové války a hledání nového státoprávního uspořádání císařem Karlem) a ekonomické i hospodářské změny v podobě nerovnoměrné modernizace a industrializace. Samotnou myšlenku federalizace spojuje se snahami o nalezení funkčního modelu habsburského státu a spravedlivějšího uspořádání mnohonárodnostní monarchie, v níž se po celé 19. století výrazně uplatňovaly partikulární zájmy národně definovaných politických společenství. Česká otázka v podobě trialismu se tak v jejím pohledu jeví jako pouze jedna z mnoha otázek habsburské monarchie, byť české záležitosti patřily k těm nejdůležitějším. Problematika federalizace nejsilněji rezonovala v nacionalistickém a později v socialistickém politickém prostředí, avšak nebyla cizí ani liberálům či konzervativcům. V protikladu vůči zažité představě o neúspěchu federalizace autorka inspirativně ukazuje, že na rovině víceúrovňové správy sedmnácti rakouských zemí, rozdělených do Předlitavska a Zalitavska, se přece jen vyvinul systém, který je možné označit za federativní. Jana Ostrkamp tak boří zažitou představu, v níž je federalizace tradičně spojována až se snahami o nové uspořádání monarchie císařem Karlem na konci první světové války, a v opozici vůči tomu ukazuje, že rok 1918 rozhodně nebyl z hlediska federalizace jedinečný a že ho je naopak třeba vnímat jako logický důsledek dlouholetého politického a společenského vývoje.

Johnsonovy DĚJINY 20. STOLETÍ představují strhující příběh úděsného věku velkých technických vynálezů, ohromného bohatství i nekonečné bídy a teroru. Kniha vzbudila velký rozruch na Západě nejen proto, že je mistrně napsána, ale hlavně tím, jak nemilosrdně odhaluje pravdu všem levicovým intelektuálům tak nepohodlnou. Všude, kde se prosadil ideologický stát, vládne korupce myšlení, teror nebo útlak. Všude, kde stát zasahuje do tržního mechanismu, či se dokonce stává neosobním „majitelem“ hospodářství, vládnou úplatky, demoralizace a bída. Johnson si neklade žádné meze, jde-li o fakta. Rudá nit teroru se odvíjí v Africe, Asii i v Latinské Americe za nepřetržitého potlesku západních intelektuálů. Podstatu zla však vidí autor v morálním relativismu, který po celá desetiletí bránil liberální demokracii, aby zvítězila.
DĚJINY 20. STOLETÍ v mistrovském překladu Jana Čulíka jsou nepostradatelnou učebnicí moderní historiografie a politologie.

Stručné středomořské dějiny se zaměřují na historii jihoevropských zemí, pozornost ale věnují i Balkánu, Turecku, Sýrii, Libanonu a Izraeli (starověké Levantě) a arabským zemím v severní Africe. Výklad počíná antickým starověkem a je doveden až do posledních let. V souladu s autorovým zaměřením (dnešní profesor historie působil také jako průvodce turistů) má text charakter bedekru s širším prostorem pro informace historického rázu, upozorňujícího na důležité památky a kulturní zajímavosti.

Debreczenyi Miklós olyan felfedezést tett a magyar írás tekintetében, amit saját kora tudósai sem tudtak igazán kezelni. Azaz lefordított olyan töredékeket, amiket odáig senki sem tudott. Ezzel a magyar nyelv- és őstörténet kutatás kimagasló tudósává vált.
Könyve bevezetőjében az alábbiakat írja: „Volt-e magyar őseleinknek, mielőtt keresztényekké lettek, nyelvünk sajátságaihoz alkalmazkodott valamely írásmestersége? ? olyan kérdés, melyre minden habozás nélkül azt mertem válaszolni, hogy: volt. Még pedig nem csupán abból az indokból, mely Jernei Jánost a jeligémül is választott nyilatkozatra bírta, hanem főképpen azért, mert a székelyeknél, ha számra nézve csekély, annyi emléke mégis maradt fenn, aminek alapján elég helyes képet alkothatunk magunknak róla. Ezt az írást legújabban „Székely rovás-írás”-nak nevezik s ezzel azt a székely különlegességek közé sorozták be… Sokkal több az: az összes magyarság ősi közös kincse.”

Dějiny Ukrajiny
Jen málo evropských národů prožilo tak nešťastné dějiny, plné násilí, útlaku a odnárodňování. Pouze v raném středověku měli Ukrajinci vlastní stát, tzv. Kyjevskou Rus, jehož ukrajinský ráz byl však pouze teritoriální, neboť se jednalo o státní útvar všech východních Slovanů před vznikem moderního ukrajinského, který si později stejně přisvojili Velkorusové.
Ukrajince pak čekala mongolská pohroma, po ní nadvláda Litvy a pak ještě Polska, podivné období polosamostatné tzv. hetmanštiny v rámci expandující Moskevské Rusi, která byla během 18. století brutálně zlikvidována. Teprve v roce 1919 došlo k obnově ukrajinské samostatnosti, která však měla díky polské a bolševické agresi jen jepičí život. Komunisté však Ukrajince za samostatný národ nepovažovali, v rámci formálně samostatné Ukrajinské sovětské republiky přišly další útrapy jako hladomor, komunistické odnárodňování, Černobyl atd. Teprve rozpad Sovětského svazu umožnil Ukrajincům získat samostatnost, ale i o ni musí nyní znovu bojovat.

Po Hedvábné cestě proudily po celá staletí do Číny evropské komodity jako sklo, objevy v geometrii či astronomii, ale také křesťanství nebo právní učení. Z Číny se k nám dostávalo samozřejmě hedvábí, ale i jejich skvělé vynálezy: papír, střelný prach, kompas, papírové peníze nebo třeba nudle. Leckdy přišly z Číny také choroby, které dokázaly Evropu paralyzovat.

Publikace Hudebníkem u čs. kavalerie v Rusku se skládá z pěti částí a přináší osobité svědectví o slavném období působení československých legionářů v Rusku. Nejdůležitější částí jsou poměrně netradiční paměti Aloise Semeráda. Nezaměřují se na většinou probíraná témata, jakými v legionářských vzpomínkách bývají bojové operace či vnitropolitická situace v rámci československého vojska. Důraz je, vzhledem k autorovu angažmá u plukovní hudby 1. čs. jízdního pluku, kladen na hudební produkci, kterou byli legionáři v Rusku doslova proslulí. Sám Alois Semerád přitom vykonával významnou funkci zástupce kapelníka plukovní hudby, a tak se stal aktérem takřka veškerých významných událostí, kterých se jeho hudební těleso v bouřlivých letech 1918 až 1920 účastnilo od pořizování nástrojů přes koncerty až po bojový střet během napadení bolševickým oddílem. Samotné paměti byly doplněny několika krátkými kapitolami o souvisejících tématech souhrnně o československé legii v Rusu, dějinách 1. čs. jízdního pluku, legionářských hudebních tělesech a v neposlední řadě o dalším životě samotného autora pamětí Aloise Semeráda.
