The Long '68
1968 saw an extraordinary range of protests across much of the western world. Some of these were genuinely revolutionary - around ten million French workers went on strike and the whole state teetered on the brink of collapse. Others were more easily contained, but had profound longer-term implications - terrorist groups, feminist collectives, gay rights activists could all trace important roots to 1968. Bill Clinton and even Tony Blair are, in many ways, the product of that year.
The Long '68 is a striking and original attempt half a century on to show how these events, which in some ways still seem so current, stemmed from histories and societies which are in practice now extraordinarily remote from our own time. The book pursues the story into the 1970s to show both the ever more violent forms of radicalization that stemmed from 1968 and the brutal reaction that brought the era to an end.

Dějiny 1. lékařské fakulty UK jsou jedním z trvalých badatelských úkolů Ústavu dějin lékařství a cizích jazyků a biografie jejích pracovníků patří v jeho rámci k základním kamenům. Kniha [] navazuje na starší publikace stejného druhu, a to především Biografický slovník pražské lékařské fakulty 13481939, vydaný ve dvou dílech v letech 1988 a 1993, a dále Biographisches Lexikon der Deutschen Medizinischen Fakultät in Prag 18831945, vydaný v roce 1998. Všechny tyto svazky představují důležitou součást historie naší fakulty a univerzity.
Předkládaný slovník tedy začíná rokem 1945 a za konečné datum jsme volili pro dějiny univerzity symbolickou a důležitou osmičku (založení UK 1348, univerzitní reformy let 1848/49, dopad roku 1948 na univerzitní dějiny). Zařazeni jsou učitelé, kteří se habilitovali včetně roku 2008 a první svazek obsahuje osoby s příjmením začínajícím písmeny AL.

Prisse d’Av., Egyptian Art
A lifelong devotee of ancient Egyptian and Oriental culture, the French author, artist, and scholar Achille-Constant-Théodore-Émile Prisse d’Avennes (1807–1879) is famed as one of the most influential Egyptologists, long before the discipline was even properly established.
Prisse first embarked on his explorations in 1836, documenting sites throughout the Nile Valley, often under his Egyptian pseudonym, Edris Effendi. Prisse’s first publication of notes, drawings, and squeezes (a kind of frottage) came in the form of Les Monuments égyptiens, a modest collection of 51 plates, but one met with considerable acclaim in popular and intellectual circles. Encouraged by his success, Prisse returned to Egypt in the late 1850s to expand his work into the collection L’Histoire de l’art égyptien—together with his first volume, these two tomes make up a truly complete survey of Egyptian art.
His albums cover architecture, drawing, sculpture, painting, and industrial or minor arts, with sections, plans, architectural details, and surface decoration all documented with utmost sensitivity and accuracy. Even when compared to the products of the great state-sponsored expeditions to Egypt of this period, Prisse’s compendium remains the largest, single-handed illustrated record of Egyptian art in existence.

Panovanie Márie Terézie sa podľa zvolených priorít a rozsahu reforiem zvyčajne delí na dve časti. Prvá sa začína nástupom na trón a končí sa spolu s rakúsko-pruskými vojnami v roku 1763, druhá je vymedzená rokmi 1763 - 1780. V prvom období sa realizovali reformné opatrenia, ktoré mali vzhľadom na prebiehajúcu vojnu priniesť okamžitý finančný zisk. Tie sa však vzťahovali len na rakúske a české krajiny, Uhorska sa v podstate nedotkli. Po roku 1763 pristúpila viedenská vláda k radikálnym a zásadným reformám, ktoré pravdepodobne zasiahli do všetkých oblastí spoločenského života aj v uhorskej časti monarchie. V historiografii sa prioritne spomína úprava poddanskej otázky, reforma súdnictva, katolíckej cirkvi a školstva. Menej sa už reflektuje skutočnosť, že pod vplyvom kameralizmu a populacionistického učenia sa populácia začala vnímať ako základ bohatstva štátu a početné opatrenia smerovali nielen k jej zvýšeniu, ale aj skvalitneniu. S tým úzko súvisela reforma zdravotníctva, sociálnej starostlivosti i početné nariadenia o ochrane zdravia a ľudských životov.

Monografie se věnuje československým krajanům pobývajícím v Austrálii za první i druhé světové války. Podkarpatská Rus
Kniha je určena nejširší veřejnosti. Byla napsána k stoletému výročí vzniku Podkarpatské Rusi a je věnována památce těch, kteří se o rozvoj Podkarpatské Rusi v době první republiky zasloužili. Autor vycházel především z osobních vzpomínek svých rodičů, rodinných přátel a jejich památek. Kde to bylo možné, uvádí jména těch, kteří se na tomto rozvoji podíleli, aby neupadla v zapomnění.
Podkarpatská Rus se za pouhých dvacet let své existence nesmazatelně zapsala do mysli několika generací jak Čechů, tak Rusínů. Je jim citově blízká, stále se o ní mluví, píší se o ní knihy, diplomové práce a stále existují hmotné i nehmotné památky, které se snaží pomalu mizející vzpomínky znovu a znovu oživovat. Často však převládají emoce nad objektivními skutečnostmi. Podkarpatská Rus již osmdesát let neexistuje a vzniklé Zakarpatí je jiná země.
