Zbyněk Fišer: Egon Bondy a Státní bezpečnost
Hlavním tématem této publikace jsou různorodé vztahy spisovatele a filosofa Zbyňka Fišera se Státní bezpečností. Zbyněk Fišer používal od konce čtyřicátých let 20. století pseudonym Egon Bondy. Ve čtyřech obdobích byl postupně spolupracovníkem komunistické tajné policie s krycími jmény „Klíma“, „Zbyněk“, „Mao“ a „Oskar“. Od roku 1961 až do roku 1989 byl s přestávka mi úspěšně nasazen do mnoha akcí Státní bezpečnosti.
Kniha má dvě části. První je interpretační studie Miroslava Vodrážky nazvaná Historie jako rozplétání otevřenosti života a díla. Její titul je inspirován teoretickým spisem filosofa postmoderny Umberta Eca Otevřené dílo. Studie se zaměřuje na zkoumání života a díla Zbyňka Fišera (alias Egona Bondyho) a nejrůznějších poloh bondyovského mýtu, který je specifický tím, že byl dlouhodobě vytvářen nejen samotným autorem, různými aktéry a skupinami, ale zejména nebyl možný bez tajných plánů StB. Druhou částí knihy je edice archivních dokumentů Státní bezpečnosti z let 1949–1989, které vybral a kritickým poznámkovým aparátem opatřil historik Petr Blažek.
Príbehy 20. storočia - Aj my sme tu doma
Často o sebe radi hovoríme, že sme pohostinný a vrúcny národ. Naša pohostinnosť a otvorenosť však veľmi rýchlo narazia na naše limity – ste nebodaj inej farby pleti, hovoríte iným jazykom a ešte ste sa nenaučili po slovensky, vyznávate iného Boha alebo jednoducho – vyzeráte inak? V tom prípade si pohostinnosť musíte zaslúžiť.
Slovensko však už dávno nie je (a prakticky ani nikdy nebolo) len krajinou Sloveniek a Slovákov. Ukazuje nám to aj naša história. V Bratislave sa bežne zdravilo na ulici po nemecky, slovensky aj maďarsky, na Spiši existovali obce, kde bola nemčina primárnym jazykom, a ľudia emigrovali na Slovensko z Vietnamu, Kuby, Spojených štátov aj afrických krajín.
Štvrté číslo časopisu Príbehy 20. storočia má preto názov Aj my sme tu doma. V časopise sme sa totiž pozreli nielen na to, ako vnímame cudzincov, ale aj národnostné či etnické menšiny medzi nami. Karpatských Nemcov, vietnamskú menšinu, utečencov z Ukrajiny, Rusínov, Poliakov, Maďarov či moslimov, ktorí tu tiež žijú s nami.

Středověký turista - Poutníci, učenci a špioni na cestách
Ať už se středověcí cestovatelé a cestovatelky vydávali na putování z důvodů náboženských, obchodních, diplomatických či válečných, pátrali během svých cest vždy po stejných informacích, jaké hledáme dnes my: kde se dobře najíst a vyspat (Sem nechoďte, tahle ubytovna je opravdu příšerně zablešená!), kolik zaplatit (Jaký je směnný kurz českých dukátů a benátských grošů?), čím se v cizí zemi léčit (Na mořskou nemoc platí kerblíkový koncentrát a kdoule.) a jak se nenechat napálit (V Benátkách pozor na falešné průvodce!). Kyselá těšínská jablíčka
Na území Těšínského knížectví si po první světové válce dělaly nárok Československo a Polsko. V lednu 1919 spor vyvrcholil sedmidenní válkou, v níž nejprve československé legie obsadily většinu Těšínska, aby později z rozhodnutí politiků ustoupily na hranici probíhající po řece Olši. Část Těšínska, která připadla Československu, se stala jedním z trvalých problémů československo-polských vztahů. Na konci září 1938 přinutila polská vláda mnichovskou dohodou právě zdeptané a oloupené Československo, aby jí pod hrozbou vojenského útoku Zaolží vydalo. S koncem druhé světové války se spor o Těšínsko rozhořel znovu a také tentokrát to byli českoslovenští vojáci, kteří obsadili v červnu 1945 část Ratibořska. Opět se museli stáhnout a na hranicích stála vojska připravená k útoku… Nakonec na zásah Stalina musely obě země uzavřít v roce 1947 spojeneckou smlouvu. Těšínsko s pestrým národnostním složením prožilo mezi lety 1918 a 1947 hodně těžké chvíle, pronásledování tu poznali Češi, Poláci, Němci, Šlonzáci i Židé...

Měření Čechoslováků
Publikace se zabývá vznikem, činností a zánikem České společnosti biotypologické a pronikáním vědy o lidské konstituci do československé medicíny v období od poloviny 30. do konce 50. let 20. století. Biotypologie neboli věda o lidské konstituci vycházela z ambice klasifikovat každého jedince na základě jeho morfologických a fyziologických vlastností ve vztahu k ideálně stanovenému konstitučnímu typu. Byla založena na přesvědčení o pevné korelaci mezi fyzickou podobou, psychickými vlastnostmi a mentálními schopnostmi člověka a na snaze o zobecnění individuálních vlastností, matematické typizaci a odvozování funkce z tvaru. Biotypologové si slibovali poznání nejskrytějších zákoutí lidské individuality, a tím i získání přehledu o vlastnostech, schopnostech a zdravotním potenciálu populace. Mělo jít o výchozí bod pro racionální a efektivní lékařskou péči a pro výchovu, výběr a vhodné pracovní umístění člověka v podmínkách masové výroby. Mimořádný ohlas a podporu tento výzkum získával v baťovském Zlíně. Jako příklad dobového ozdravného vědeckého programu a sociálního inženýrství v medicíně je příběh České společnosti biotypologické také příběhem nebezpečného sebevědomí a ambicí integrovat lékařskou péči do politické správy společnosti.

Tématem této publikace je fungování vazební vojenské věznice v letech 1948 až 1950, která vešla do dějin pod názvem Domeček a dodnes šokuje krutými poměry, které zde panovaly. V jejích zdech trpěla řada osobností československé vojenské elity, jež komunistický režim právem pokládal za své oponenty či se jich skrze falešná obvinění snažil zbavit. S Domečkem je nerozlučně spojen jeho sadistický správce František Pergl, stejně jako příslušníci pátrací a vyšetřovací skupiny 5. oddělení Hlavního štábu Ministerstva národní obrany, které ve vymezeném období věznici spravovalo. Tito lidé se osobně podíleli na brutálním fyzickém a psychickém mučení zadržených osob. Kniha, v některých případech vůbec poprvé, podává prostřednictvím podrobně sestavených biografických medailonů ucelený obraz o jejich životní a profesní dráze a objasňuje, zda a jak byli za své činy potrestáni. Byly budovány k vojenským účelům, proto jsou spojeny s válkou, obranou, logistikou, často s lidským utrpením. I tak zůstaly důležitými centry v měnící se krajině – vždyť byly místem k životu. Zůstaly jím i poté, kdy ztratily svůj vojenský význam. Pevnost totiž umí spoluutvářet obrysy vnitřního světa osob, které čerpají důležité impulzy z minulosti místa, v němž žijí, a pociťují nejen silné závazky k jeho dějinám, ale také – a možná více – odpovědnost k jeho dalšímu rozvoji i k lidem, kteří v něm žili v dobách dávno i nedávno minulých. Škodovy závody Teherán
Působení československých architektů, inženýrů a dalších odborníků v meziválečném Íránu je kapitolou našich i íránských dějin, o níž dnes na obou stranách něco tuší jen málokdo. Přitom se Čechoslováci v zemi usilující o rychlou modernizaci činili: postavili tam stovky kilometrů silnic, mnoho desítek silničních i železničních mostů, tucty továren a cukrovarů, elektrárny, vojenské základny, sila a také několik skutečných skvostů modernistické architektury. Svým uměleckým přesvědčením inspirovali generace íránských tvůrců.
Rezá Alírezáíján, strávil ve snaze vynést tuto zapomenutou historii znovu na světlo stovky hodin archivním bádáním a vyzpovídal i potomky mnoha těch, kdo ji bezmála před stoletím pomáhali psát. Díky němu dnes poznáváme Írán jako zemi, s níž sdílíme překvapivě mnoho.
Rezá Alírezáíján (1993) je íránský historik architektury žijící v Dallasu ve Spojených státech. Ke studiu dějin íránského průmyslu a architektury byl takříkajíc předurčen: jeho předkové z otcovy strany budovali v Ábádánu ropné rafinerie, zatímco ti z matčiny se podíleli na stavbě Transíránské železnice. Zkoumání a dokumentaci zásadní transformace íránské architektury se věnuje dlouhodobě a jeho unikátní perspektiva, spojující technickou odbornost se zájmem o historii, otevírá nový a neocenitelný pohled na klíčové období íránských dějin.
Bojovníci bez hranic. Transnacionální odboj v Evropě 1936-1948
Během druhé světové války se v boji za obnovení státní a národní svébytnosti v okupovaných evropských zemích utvářel narativ zdůrazňující především motivy sjednoceného národa. V této atmosféře ovšem zůstaly zapomenuty a cíleně potlačeny aktivity, které se z tohoto rámce vymykaly a výrazně ho překračovaly. Odbojáři různých národností, původu i ideového přesvědčení se zapojovali do odboje v jiných zemích, vytvářeli mezinárodní sítě, předávali své bojové a organizační zkušenosti, vstupovali do různých národních armád a z nich přecházeli do partyzánských formací, pomáhali uprchlíkům. Mezinárodní tým historiků v knize popisuje širokou škálu aspektů této nadnárodní, transnacionální spolupráce.
