Industrializing Iron Construction at the Ecole Centrale Paris, 1829-1865
As industrialization began to evolve in the early nineteenth century, engineers were urgently needed to integrate science into the field of construction. They needed to learn how to innovate and understand the new material—iron. Industrializing Iron Construction at the École Centrale Paris, 1829–1865 explains a novel response to that need, a successful new school to educate civil and structural engineers, architects, contractors, and industrialists who would become major players in the development of modern iron construction. Among them were two of the most prominent creators of our modern world—Eiffel, of the thousand-foot tower, and Jenney, of Chicago skyscraper fame. The École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris created a unique pedagogy that taught not only how to solve problems, but how to innovate. This is the lively account of how that happened. It traces the sources of French education in engineering and architecture and follows the careers and ideas of the chief players. Familiar faces like the architect Jean-Nicolas Louis Durand, the École Polytechnique's founder Gaspard Monge, the bridge builder Jean-Rodolphe Perronet, and the theoretician Gaspard Riche de Prony appear in a new light. Half-remembered pioneers like the railway builder Eugene Flachat gain prominence. The Finnish Front Line
The Finnish Front Line is a historical biography of Urho Kekkonen, the eighth and longest-serving president of Finland. The most controversial as well as the most misunderstood figure in Finnish history, Kekkonen governed Finland for twenty-five years from 1956 to 1981. Gordon F. Sander focuses on Kekkonen's pivotal first term as president, which was bracketed by two crises that together formed the template for both Finland's relationship with the Soviet Union from 1956 through the fall of the USSR, and Kekkonen's own "special" relationship with Moscow: the Night Frost crisis of 1957, which derived from the Kremlin's desire to exert greater influence on Finnish politics, and the Note Crisis of 1961, which coincided with the great Berlin crisis of 1961, and occurred when Moscow suddenly invoked the clause in the 1948 Finnish-Soviet treaty that entitled the Kremlin to call for mutual discussions between the Finnish and Soviet militaries and was perceived as a threat to Finnish independence. Thinking this might presage a Soviet invasion of Finland, a distressed Kekkonen was able to resolve the crisis by flying to Siberia to meet with his erstwhile friend Nikita Khrushchev - who may well have precipitated the crisis in order to insure Kekkonen's reelection. The Finnish Front Line centers an overlooked chapter of the Cold War as well as a revealing if forgotten chapter of the presidency of John Kennedy and his secret offer to help Kekkonen, which the latter rejected, ultimately to avoid making Finland into next front of the Cold War.
When Rebels Win

„Švarc-systém“ práce je zaužívaným názvom pre druh závislej práce vykonávanej formálne prostredníctvom samostatných podnikateľov. V rámci tohto systému je faktický zamestnávateľ odbremenený od administratívnych činností a nákladov súvisiacich s pracovnoprávnym vzťahom. Znamená to, že nevýhodou práce na živnosť pre samotného zamestnávateľa ,resp. odberateľa je riziko, že takáto práca môže byť považovaná za závislú činnosť, s čím je spojené aj riziko nelegálneho zamestnávania a udelenia pokuty za tento delikt. Pri určovaní dane z motorových vozidiel je zásadnou záležitosťou správne posúdenie základu dane. Tento údaj je totiž určujúcim pre priradenie ročnej sadzby dane uvedenej v prílohách č. 1 až č. 1e zákona o dani z motorových vozidiel. Základ dane je v zákone o dani z motorových vozidiel ustanovený samostatne pre vozidlo, ktorého jediným zdrojom energie je elektrina (elektromobil), samostatne pre osobné vozidlo, samostatne pre vozidlo kategórie M2, M3, N1, N2 a N3 s kódom druhu karosérie BA alebo BB, samostatne pre vozidlo kategórie N3 s kódom druhu karosérie BC alebo BD a samostatne pre prípojné vozidlo (O1 až O4)...
• Daňový bonus na vyživované dieťa
Nárok na daňový bonus podľa § 33 ods. 1 možno uplatniť do výšky určenej v tomto ustanovení, sa do počtu vyživovaných detí, ktoré ovplyvňujú aj percentuálnu výšku stanovenú pre počet vyživovaných detí započítavajú len také vyživované deti, na ktoré rodičom alebo iným oprávnených osobám vzniká nárok podľa § 33 ods. 1 ZDP.
Ak oprávnené osoby po splnení všetkých zákonom určených podmienok vyživujú 15 a 19 ročné dieťa, nárok na daňový bonus vzniká týmto osobám len na 15 ročné vyživované dieťa a len toto jedno sa započíta do počtu vyživovaných detí pre stanovenie percentuálneho limitu základu dane (čiastkového základu dane), t.j. bude to vo výške 29 %...

Ak úhrn príjmov podľa § 8 ods. 1 písm. r) ZDP nepresiahne v zdaňovacom období 500 eur, uvedený príjem je oslobodený od dane fyzickej osoby podľa § 9 ods. 1 písm. m) ZDP, a ak takto vymedzené príjmy presiahnu 500 eur, do základu dane sa zahrnú len príjmy nad takto ustanovenú sumu, pričom výdavky k príjmom zahrnovaným do základu dane sa zistia rovnakým pomerom, ako je pomer príjmov zahrnovaných do základu dane k celkovým príjmom...

Kniha Bratři s kufry je souborem studií zaměřených na rakousko-uherskou civilizační misi v Bosně a Hercegovině v období její okupace a anexi mezi lety 1878 a 1918. Publikace z perspektivy několika vědních oborů a metodologických přístupů sleduje pohyb lidí, zboží, idejí, vědeckého poznání a kapitálu mezi Prahou, Vídní a Sarajevem.
