Wellbeing je vnímán jako nový koncept péče o sebe, svůj život, zdraví, ale i okolní komunitu. Měl by zahrnovat vše, co přispívá k ideální vnímané kvalitě života. Koncept přebírá i nově revidovaný Rámcový vzdělávací program pro základní vzdělávání. Wellbeing přichází do škol jako všeobecná pohoda jedince i společenství každé třídy a celé školní komunity. Izotretinoin v praxi, 2. vydání
Izotretinoin patří do první nearomatické generace retinoidů. Protože jako jediný působí na všechny čtyři hlavní etiopatogenetické faktory akné, je nejúčinnějším lékem v léčbě této velmi nepříjemné kožní choroby. Užívá se především k terapii nejtěžších forem akné. Jeho užití je ale možné i u řady dalších chorob, jako např. u lupénky, periorální dermatitidy, inverzní akné a dalších nemocí. Izotretinoin je vysoce účinný a bezpečný, je-li užíván podle doporučených pravidel. Léčba je možná i u většiny pacientů s jinými chorobami a laboratorními abnormalitami. Přiměřené sportovní aktivity během léčby jsou možné. Pro udržení pozitivního efektu navozeného předchozí terapií perorálním izotretinoinem je velmi důležitá následná léčba lokálními retinoidy.
Z léčby perorálním izotretinoinem má však dosud stále mnoho lékařů obavy, a právě proto byla napsána kniha Izotretinoin v praxi. První vydání se setkalo s velmi dobrým ohlasem. Protože se ale od roku 2012 řada skutečností změnila, vychází nyní druhé, aktualizované a rozšířené vydání. Kniha je praktickým návodem, jak postupovat při léčbě pacientů s těžkými formami akné.

Snižování rizik spojených s kouřením tabáku
Publikace poskytuje přehled východisek, principů a důkazů o účinnosti strategie snižování rizik (harm reduction) v redukci kouření tabáku a jeho dopadů a nabízí souhrn pro zdravotní politiku a klinickou praxi. Kouření spalovaného tabáku je důležitou determinantou zdravotního stavu populace, neboť se podílí významnou měrou na celkové nemocnosti a úmrtnosti. Nejčastějšími příčinami úmrtí v důsledku kouření jsou zhoubné novotvary, kardiovaskulární a respirační onemocnění, které dohromady tvoří více než 90 % všech úmrtí způsobených kouřením tabáku. Ve vyspělých zemích jde na vrub kouření až 10 % zdravotních nákladů, kuřáci umírají až o 10 let dříve než nekuřáci a na každého zemřelého připadá až 30 případů osob žijících s vážným onemocněním vyvolaným tabákovým kouřem. Prostřednictvím tradičních strategií a nástrojů se však nedaří uspokojivě snížit míru kouření na individuální ani populační úrovni. Příčinou vysoké nemocnosti a úmrtnosti jsou především dráždivé, toxické a karcinogenní složky tabákového kouře, nikoliv nikotin.

Macclesfield in 50 Buildings
Medieval Macclesfield was a small market town in Cheshire but industries, particularly button manufacturing, started to develop in the Tudor era. The town’s later wealth and rapid expansion was built on the silk industry that followed, with its first mill being built in 1743. In the first half of the nineteenth century Macclesfield became one of the largest producers of silk in the world and the population quadrupled in the first fifty years, over half of whom were employed in the silk industry, there being nearly 100 mills in the town. Alongside the mills, large numbers of houses, schools, churches and other institutions were built to accommodate this growth, many of which remain today. Although silk manufacturing declined, other industries developed which have left their mark, including the bread maker Hovis. Resilience Beyond Rebellion
Resilience beyond Rebellion addresses a critical question in insurgency studies: Why some rebel groups successfully become political parties, while others die trying. Only half of rebel groups with political aspirations manage to reinvent themselves as lasting political parties. Sherry Zaks argues that the key to successful rebel-to-party transformations lies in the organizational structures and institutions that rebels build during wartime. These proto-party structures, which involve governance, political messaging, social outreach, and other noncombat tasks, equip rebel groups with the personnel, skills, and routines needed to succeed in the electoral arena. Zaks draws on insights from organizational sociology to reconceptualize how rebel groups operate. Through examining the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front in El Salvador and other cases, they demonstrate that rebel groups with established proto-party structures often form the core of post-conflict parties and attract more votes. The 10th Mountain Division in World War II
The formation of the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division was inspired by Finland’s success during the Soviet Union's invasion in 1939, where Finnish ski troops effectively used winter terrain to overcome Soviet armored divisions. Recognizing the strategic value of such a unit, Charles Minot “Minnie” Dole, founder of the National Ski Patrol, lobbied for a similar division in the U.S. Army. His efforts eventually led to the formation of specialized mountain warfare troops. In 1941, the War Department authorized the formation of experimental ski patrols, and by 1942, the 87th Mountain Infantry was created. Recruited primarily from skilled skiers, this unit was stationed at Camp Hale in Colorado. The 10th Light Division (Alpine) formed in 1943. Later renamed the 10th Mountain Division in 1944, it became a critical component of U.S. mountain and winter warfare capability. The division was involved in key operations, including the invasion of Kiska in the Aleutians and battles in Italy. Fully illustrated with over 200 photographs, the book catalogs the history of 10th Mountain Division unit and the equipment it used to undertake its unique mission, including skis, specialized winter clothing, and vehicles such as the M29 Weasel, designed for mountain and snow operations. The book also highlights the testing and deployment of various vehicles and artillery adapted for cold, mountainous environments, showcasing the division’s specialized role in the U.S. military in World War II.

The Roman Emperors
No easily accessible book which lists the emperors (of which there are very many, thanks to the vicissitudes of the empire itself) in alphabetical order for easy reference and in which a reasonably full biographical account of each, with references, has been available. Here it is.This biographical dictionary runs from Caesar’s seizure of power in 49BC to AD602, when the dynasty of Justinian and his successors ended (rather bloodily in a mutiny) and the true Byzantine, much more entirely Greek, character of the empire finally emerged. It includes an account of the way the empire evolved constitutionally. Up to the settlement of Augustus powerful men were almost sleepwalking into monarchy and trying to stretch the constitutional envelope to enable power to be wielded without a naked revival of the hated institution of kingship. From that time, Roman politics became highly fractured, and men bent on gaining control of the levers of government emerged with increasing frequency. Hereditary succession became the norm and then disappeared. In Rome, unlike Medieval Europe, the natural succession of son to father became a rarity and, when it did occur, was usually a disaster. It was only in its Byzantine mutation after 610 that dynastic succession became more standardized, but even then it was mediated by assassination. Of the 198 figures featured here, 101 were killed. Julius Caesar observed: ‘Which death is preferable to every other? The unexpected.’
