Daleko od lidí je daleko od sebe. Jen s nimi jsme ve světě. Vše, co se stalo, a všechny, které jsme potkali, máme ve svém těle zapsané. Slovy, která jsou někdy až moc hluboko. Slovy, která na noc nejdou svléct. Proto když jsi ty tím, kdo je píše, přitlač. Vejdi do psaní celým tělem. Psaní je aktem odporu, ale taky péče, existence, kolektivního soužití. Piš. Tělo musí promluvit. Truchli, tanči, vzpomínej. Vracej se pohybem vpřed. Vypij soudek do dna, jinak se vypaří. Jako i my se nakonec vypaříme.

James Joyce's towering genius as a novelist has often overshadowed his achievements as a poet, yet his verse occupies a pivotal position in his career. The Coffin Path
The poems in this volume were mostly written about a remote valley to the far west of Cornwall, in the area of West Penwith, which forms a granite near-island at the very tip of the country. The poet meditates on the continuity of memory in a landscape scarred by past industry and changing habitat, where the layers of history and geology are randomly strewn across its rugged topography and mortality is embodied in megaliths, walls and rocks of its ancient landscape. “West Penwith is a granite bastion jutting out into the Atlantic, ringed by seaswept high cliffs. The coastline is irregular and complex, indented by many small, intimate coves and narrow inlets known locally as ‘zawns’. The higher ground is predominantly moorland and rough pasture with a rugged and remote character. It has a simple land use pattern of wind-swept, rock-strewn heaths, ancient field systems and settlements, with frequent remains of a bygone mining industry clearly evident. The settlements have an austere and simple architecture which make good use of the hard local stone and slate. The coast dominates this landscape and provides the background and influence for many of the activities. This higher northern section of the plateau is dominated by a north-facing heath-covered ridge sloping down through a farmed coastal plain and a narrow strip of coastal heath to steep cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic. The landscape is criss-crossed by narrow lanes and tracks. The high granite cliffs rise up in great columnar steps and blocks. These are considered to be some of the most magnificent cliffs in Britain.”

Against Gravity
Against Gravity: the title alludes to our struggle with mortality as we age and, by contrast, the pleasures of play, imagination, creativity. Robert Saxton’s latest poetry book is dedicated to a friend whose heart gave out on a Scottish mountain. But in counterpoint to the elegaic, it offers humour too, often with dark overtones. The subject matter is wide-ranging – from the late Queen to the pitfalls of indexing, from Nero’s theatre to trouser suits for modern brides, from a bat roost in a Portuguese library to the Hollywood Sign. Mer de Glace
In 2021, Malgorzata Lebda ran the entire length of the longest river in Poland, the Vistula, from its source in the Beskid Mountains to its mouth at the Baltic Sea – a distance of 1,113 kilometres. She set out to run as a poet, not as an athlete, to use the rhythms of her own body as a means of understanding and connecting to the rhythms of the river’s body of water, under threat of environmental ruin. Mer de Glace, which won the Szymborska Award, is the introduction to her remarkable journey.
