Nezní jako titul, ale spíše jako věta zaslechnutá někde za dveřmi, šeptem předávána mezi generacemi. A právě tak působí i celá sbírka: jako tiché, precizní zpracování toho, co se nejen v rodinách přenáší mlčením. Kniha je rozdělena do čtrnácti oddílů metaforicky pojmenovaných podle dnů a oken. Dny se proměňují podle podoby oken – od velkých čtvercových přes neotevřené oprýskané okenice až po bezokenné dny nebo dny, kdy se z oken nelze vyklánět. Švýcarský básník, umělecký kritik a esejista Eugen Gomringer (1925–2025) patří k nejvlivnějším osobnostem poválečné nekonvenční či „experimentální“ básnické tvorby; je považován za evropského zakladatele konkrétní poesie.
