Monografie se věnuje teorii a dějinám umění, estetice a umělecké kritice Miroslava Tyrše (1832–1884), který je sice všeobecně znám jako zakladatel a vedoucí osobnost Sokola, ale byl také historikem umění a kultury, estetikem a prvním profesorem dějin umění na české části Karlovy univerzity v Praze. Monografie představuje a analyzuje jeho rozsáhlé dílo, které zůstalo ve stínu tělocvičného hnutí. I toto hnutí, společenství, bylo ovšem jeho chápáním kultury a umění silně ovlivněno – Tyrš do Sokola integroval i vzory antického Řecka a důsledně usiloval o renesanci ideálu kalokagathie. Díky tomu se věnoval nejen estetické teorii tělesných cvičení a gymnastiky, ale i teorii umění a stal se prvním českým kritikem zaměřeným výhradně na výtvarné umění. Van Gogh and the Avant-Garde
An examination of the innovative portrayals of industry and leisure created by five avant-garde artists working at Asnieres in the late nineteenth century.
From 1881 to 1890, Vincent van Gogh, Georges Seurat, Paul Signac, Emile Bernard, and Charles Angrand chose Asni?res, a suburb of Paris, as a site of artistic experimentation. Located on the Seine, Asni?res became a popular destination for Parisians thanks to aquatic sports and festivals starting in the 1850s, facilitated by the arrival of new train stations and bridges earlier in the century. This convenient new transportation system had beckoned Parisians to more distant destinations like Argenteuil and Bougival, resulting in the river scenes depicted by Impressionists like Monet and Renoir. At the same time, the idyllic landscape of Asni?res increasingly contrasted with the factories appearing on the opposite side of the river. Homing in on the tensions between leisure and work, the avant-garde artists at Asni?res sought to capture the feeling of this starkly modern landscape by developing innovative motifs, styles, and techniques that pushed their work in new directions. Chtěli změnit umění a s ním i celou společnost. Umění změnili. Společnost ne…
Velká říjnová revoluce, to nebyl jen razantní přelom v ruské politice. V očích revolucionářů se utvářela celá nová společnost, nový svět a nový člověk. Jedním z projevů této nové epochy lidských dějin mělo být i umění: to staré, buržoazní a tradiční bylo zavrženo ve jménu umění moderního a progresivního. V čele Sovětského svazu proto vedle bolševiků stanuli i avantgardní umělci. Dříve odmítaní tvůrci jako Kazimir Malevič, Marc Chagall, Vasilij Kandinskij nebo Vladimir Tatlin byli pověřeni úkolem provést socialistickou estetickou transformaci: reformovaly se pedagogické systémy, v zapadlých obcích se budovaly galerie, města zaplavilo avantgardní umění. Trvalo to však jen pár let, než tato umělecká svobodomyslnost začala být Sovětskému svazu, komunistickému politbyru a jeho regulím na obtíž. Triumf umění skončil lidskou tragédií. Avantgardisté jsou velkolepým příběhem několika umělců, kteří chtěli změnit svět, portrétem doby bolševické revoluce a teroru i strhujícím vyznáním modernímu umění.

Obrazy těla
Publikace vychází z dizertační práce realizované pod vedením doc. Lady Hubatové-Vackové a obhájené na Katedře teorie a dějin umění UMPRUM v roce 2019. Ústředním tématem projektu je proměna vizuálních motivů a symbolů masových tělovýchovných performancí od šedesátých let 19. století do roku 1989. Struktura textu vychází z předpokladu, že vizuální motivy a symboly migrují a že se jejich význam mění na základě konkrétního společenského a kulturního kontextu. Proměna vizuální reprezentace tělesné kultury je analyzována prostřednictvím konkrétních vizuálních a performativních znaků v reprezentaci Sokola, dělnických tělovýchovných jednot, federace proletářské tělovýchovy a československých celostátních spartakiád. Frail ‘streetwalkers', forced by circumstance into the lowest ranks of prostitution, are transformed into elegant beauties, obscuring their tragic existence. The spectacle of heroes from Japan's rich mythological and pseudo-historical past crowd the printed sheet. Publikace seznamuje čtenáře s pestrým souborem textilií z indického subkontinentu ze sbírek Náprstkova muzea v Praze. Rozmanité přírodní podmínky dnešní Indie, Pákistánu a Bangladéše stejně jako národnostní, sociální a náboženská specifika se odrážejí v široké škále materiálů, výrobních technik i repertoáru vzorů použitých při výrobě oděvů. Práce poskytuje řadu informací všem zájemcům o indickou kulturu stejně jako obecných znalostí o textilnictví, tradičních řemeslech i muzejním odborníkům. Indické oděvy jsou vedle erudovaného výkladu představeny i velkým množstvím barevných fotografií.
Sběratel autogramů a vůbec správnej muž
Předmětem zájmu této knihy jsou vzpomínky a část sbírky autogramů Jana Slánského (1889–1981), správce Muzea Aloise Jiráska v Hronově, osoby v maximální možné míře aktivní ve veřejném životě, disponující v rámci svých možností rozsáhlou sítí společenských kontaktů a nepopíratelným kulturním rozhledem. Tyto vlastnosti byly navíc podmíněny a umocněny členstvím v místní sokolské jednotě a především prostředím Hronova, spojeného neoddělitelně s osobou spisovatele a jedné ze symbolických postav protirakouského odboje, Aloise Jiráska. Slánského sbírka autografů představuje svébytný a výjimečný dokument ilustrující osobní vztah svého tvůrce k českému protirakouskému odboji a vzniku Československa. Jako základní kameny domácí části české cesty vedoucí k 28. říjnu 1918 zřetelně vystupují Manifest spisovatelů z května 1917 a působení skupiny osob označovaných po skončení první světové války jako Maffie. Slánským aktivně přijímaný a čile rozvíjený narativ let 1914–1918 byl zcela v souladu s hlavním meziválečným výkladovým proudem reprezentovaným pracemi Edvarda Beneše, T. G. Masaryka, Jana Hajšmana, Milady Paulové apod.
