Česká novinářská fotografie 1945-1989
Publikace mapuje proměny novinářské fotografie a nahlíží možnosti jejího uplatnění v české mediální krajině druhé poloviny 20. století. Rekapituluje postavení fotožurnalismu, jeho role a úrovně v jednotlivých vývojových etapách a snahy českých publicistů o vytvoření teoretických rámců. Mezi dobovými fotoreportéry a fotožurnalisty si autorka vybírá především ty, kteří svým pochopením pro fotografii a její nekonvenční uplatňování přesahovali obecně prosazované a akceptované standardy. Fotografy, kteří fotografii nevnímali jako ilustrační doprovod bez jakýchkoli žurnalistických ambicí a svojí prací v redakcích slavných časopisů, jako byl Svět v obrazech, Mladý svět nebo Stadión, ovlivňovali vizuální vkus čtenářů.

Berenice Abbott
This handsome publication presents legendary American photographer Berenice Abbott's work in three categories: her portraits, photographs of the city and scientific photographs. The opening section presents Abbott's portraits of mold-breaking individuals who changed the world from the mid-1920s onward such as Djuna Barnes, the New Yorker's Janet Flanner, Jean Cocteau and James Joyce.
The second part offers a dazzling portrait of New York which takes into account Abbott's relations with and her fascination for the work of Eugene Atget by including an introductory group of his photographs, which she printed from his negatives.
The third and final section focuses on Abbott's scientific photographs, which she started to produce in the late 1940s.
Berenice Abbott was undoubtedly one of the defining portraitists of New York. Shops, people, bridges, streets, interiors, famous buildings under construction seen from outside or from above (the same ones that are visible today from the highway that runs round Manhattan) together make up this portrait.
Berenice Abbott (1891-1991) was born in Springfield, Ohio. She began her photography career in 1923, as Man Ray's darkroom assistant. Her work is collected in some of the most prestigious museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art.
Richard Kalvar
A member of the celebrated Magnum agency, Richard Kalvar has spent more than four decades building up a diverse body of work that is characterized by a finely honed sense of observation. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1944, he has travelled all over the world, capturing fleeting details and moments of absurdity. His images suggest glimpses into untold stories, reflecting an idiosyncratic approach to the act and practice of photography.

August Sander
August Sander (1876-1964) was a documentary photographer whose greatest project lasted his entire working life. His series of portrait studies of the German people spanned three eras - the German Empire, the Weimar Republic and Nazi Germany - and every social class, combining to form a fascinating social mirror of the country over a tumultuous period in its history. Working with calm determination, Sander cast the same lucid eye on bankers and boxers, soldiers and circus performers, creating strikingly honest images that fulfil his sole ambition: to tell the truth about humanity.

Nobuyoshi Araki: Polarnography
In a limited edition of 1,000, nestled in a jewelry-box-proportioned precious object itself protected by a larger canvas and acetate container, 100 never-before-published Polaroids, taken by erotic master Nobuyoshi Araki (born 1940), divide their surfaces between images of women and images of the sky. Polarnography collects these objects, box and photographs, in perfect facsimile of their originals. The juxtapositions Araki assembles on the surface of these Polaroids match each other in shapes and colors: lucid clear skies, stark flash on nude skin or fiery overcast sunsets, the mingling of confrontation and vulnerability in bondage. Fotograf Adolf Rossi
Adolf Rossi (19202000) patří k mimořádně zajímavým osobnostem české amatérské fotografie 20. století. Přestože jeho dílo se více méně uzavřelo před více jak padesáti lety, nevznikla doposud žádná autorova monografie, která by představila obrovskou šíři jeho tvorby. Rossiho dílo bylo totiž ovlivněno jak piktorialismem počátku minulého století, tak avantgardou, ale i dobově populární fotografií všedního dne.
Výjimečné místo v dějinách české fotografie má však Adolf Rossi z jiného důvodu. Od počátku totiž svoji tvorbu vztahoval spíše k zahraničí a k mezinárodním fotografickým salonům, které obesílal s nevídanou intenzitou a zápalem. Za dvacet let se účastnil více jak devíti set soutěží a dosáhl na nich mimořádných úspěchů.
