Šiesty zväzok súborného vydania diel Kristíny Royovej zahŕňa poviedku Bez Boha na svete, novelu Sluha a viacero krátkych próz, z ktorých časť bola uverejňovaná v dobovej tlači, iné slúžili ako letáčiky či traktáty. Texty krátkych próz sú tematicky rôznorodé, ich ústredný motív však dobre vystihuje citát: „Syn človeka prišiel hľadať a spasiť to, čo bolo zahynulo“ (Lukáš 19,10).
Vari najznámejším dielom Kristíny Royovej, preloženým do mnohých jazykov, je príbeh siroty Martinka Bez Boha na svete. Hrdinom je malý chlapec, no poviedka oslovuje deti aj dospelých. Hoci pastierik Martinko nemal možnosť chodiť do školy a nevedel nič o Bohu, jeho srdiečko vytrvalo hľadalo a pýtalo sa. Napokon nezostal sám, našiel svojho Stvoriteľa i Spasiteľa a stal sa Jeho ovečkou.
Novela Sluha je situovaná do dedinky Hradová, kam zavíta mladý muž Metod. Stáva sa sluhom jedného z gazdov. Je iný ako miestni, každému vie poradiť, pomôcť, pracuje nadmieru spoľahlivo. Spriatelí sa s osamelým Židom i chromým mladíkom. Pre dedinské spoločenstvo je impulzom, ktorý ich povzbudí k hľadaniu Boha. Zaujímavý dej má napokon prekvapivú pointu.
Error in calculo
Konec světa v Sudetech není o nic méně násilný, zmrzlý a hladový jako jinde, nicméně má lépe padnoucí kulisy i solidní tradici v krveprolitích. Kde jinde by mohla být plíživá apokalypsa stylovější, než v mlžných lesích Jizerských a Krušných hor? Darwin došel k poznání, že pro vývoj je potřeba kluk a holka. Věroučným knihám k tomu stačil Stvořitelův úmysl. Vesmír si myslel svoje, a za praskání kostí a trhání měkkých tkání se rozhodl přemalovat šachovnici a zamakat na vývoji. Pro nás, vyšší primáty, se to stalo dobrodružstvím sice poněkud nepříjemným, ale zato zpravidla posledním.
Hrdinové potemnělé a krvavé knihy možná mají hexenšus a hemoroidy, ale zato mají dobrý hudební vkus a štěstí, které je vždy včas opustí.

Minima animalia
Kniha německého biologa a ekofilozofa je souborem devadesáti devíti přitažlivých úvah psaných v deníkovém formátu během jednoho přírodního roku – od vykvetení sněženek do jejich objevení se znovu počátkem dalšího jara. Hlavním „hrdinou“ každého zamyšlení je nějaká drobná konkrétní forma bytí na naší zemi: od jabloně přes růži, sýkorku, ropuchu po stéblo trávy, kámen, lišejník, oblak, mořské tvory a mnohé další. S úžasem nad krásou, účelností a vzájemnou provázaností světa, jehož jsme nedílnou součástí, autor přesvědčivě ukazuje, že příroda je ve svém celku ztělesněná v každém jednotlivém individuu i jeho osudu a zároveň nás nedozírně přesahuje. Každý organismus je touto přírodou. Je to kniha plná živoucnosti i něžné poetiky, která se nevyhýbá ani tématům jako odumírání, tlení a rozklad, a k tomu nabízí hluboce duchovní vhled do našeho vlastního, lidského života.
Oheň nad Hlubinou
Ocitáme se tisíce let v budoucnosti. Galaxii obývá celá řada živočišných druhů, jejichž technologická vyspělost a dokonce i inteligence závisejí na tom, kde přesně v galaxii se nacházejí. Nejzazší a jádru nejvzdálenější vrstva zvaná Transcend je domovem božských superinteligencí, zatímco v Nevědomých hlubinách okolo jádra mohou existovat jen primitivní živočišné formy a ty nejjednodušší technologie. Nikdo netuší, jaká síla kdysi rozdělila galaxii na tyto „kognitivní zóny“, nicméně když ctižádostiví lidští archeologové otevřou dávno zapomenutý archiv na hranici Transcendu, probudí prastarou inteligenci, která má jediný cíl – znovu získat vládu nad galaxií, o niž přišla před pěti miliardami let.
Následné pohromě unikne jediná rodina, jejíž členové včetně dvou dětí však záhy padnou do zajetí Spárů, příslušníků nelítostné středověké civilizace, kteří je ihned využijí jako figurky ve vzájemném mocenském boji. Na pomoc jim vyráží záchranná výprava, která má za úkol přivézt domů nejen je, ale také tajemství, které je jedinou nadějí na spásu veškerého inteligentního života v galaxii.

V románu se Mario Vargas Llosa vrací do rodného Peru a přináší příběh muže, jenž sní o sjednocení své země prostřednictvím hudby a při psaní knihy, v níž by se jeho vize ztělesnila, propadne šílenství. To?o Azpilcueta žije a dýchá pro kreolskou hudbu – není většího znalce ani sběratele, který by se mu vyrovnal. Přesto se živí psaním článků o hudbě pro brakové plátky, které mu platí sotva pár šupů. Grafický román Oskar Ed, Môj najväčší sen získal v roku 2015 hlavné ocenenie na Medzinárodnom festivale v Poľsku a Cenu Muriel v kategóriách „Najlepšia pôvodná kniha“ a „Najlepší pôvodný scenár“ (2016).
