Svatý Artaud je monografie o Antoninu Artaudovi (1896–1948), francouzském divadelním teoretiku, režisérovi, herci, básníku a spisovateli, přední osobnosti kulturního života 1. poloviny 20. století, která ovlivnila a dodnes ovlivňuje další vývoj nejen evropského divadla; k jeho odkazu se hlásili např. Peter Brook a Jerzy Grotowski. Kniha shrnuje a uvádí do kontextu Artaudovy vize obsažené v knize Divadlo a jeho dvojenec i v jiných textech, jeho hledání forem divadla, které by bylo lékem na – podle Artauda – nemocné lidství, nemocný svět. Odhaluje a komentuje paradoxy spojené s jeho osobností a dílem: Artaud je vizionář, který sám nikdy neuskutečnil své vize; inspirátor bezpočtu divadelních tvůrců, který sám zrealizoval osm výstupů – neúspěšných a nepřijatých; pronikavý kritik stavu člověka a společnosti, kterého společnost odsunula do blázince. Navíc většina z těch, kdo se považovali za jeho následovníky, kopírovala povrchní představy o něm bez pochopení podstaty jeho myšlenek. Jedním ze zásadních témat knihy jsou svatí blázni v dějinách, svaté šílenství, v němž se naplňuje ideál vnitřně svobodného, autenticky se projevujícího člověka neodděleného od světa, přírody, vesmíru, svaté šílenství, které je nepřijatelné pro společnost a obvykle končí šílenstvím nesvatým, destrukčním. Dílo je psané z perspektivy Artaudovy cesty do Mexika v roce 1936, zlomové události v jeho životě, posledního pokusu najít uskutečnění svých vizí v tradicích a kultuře domorodých indiánů – před definitivním nástupem psychické choroby.
A co bylo dál
Není velkým překvapením, že se architekt Václav Girsa pustil do pokračování své úspěšné vzpomínkové knihy Postižen pamětí. Čtenáři mají velké štěstí, že je tento náš přední odborník na rekonstrukce památek rozený vypravěč, tudíž umí své bohaté a zajímavé životní zkušenosti přetavit do stylisticky vybroušených příběhů, které dokáží pobavit i poučit. Nenásilnou formou se tak dozvědí mnohé nejen o historii Bezdězu, Ploskovic, Zákup a dalších významných staveb, ale získají také „návod“, jak se dívat na rekonstruované památky u nás i ve světě. Vzpomínky Václava Girsy jsou cenné jednak pro svůj vhled do často dobrodružné práce architekta-záchranáře, jednak jako zpráva o tom, jak lze v životě stát pevně za svým přesvědčením, jak lze prosazovat dodržování etiky a morálky, jak naplňovat své životní poslání, ale také o tom, že podobnou péči jako památkám je potřeba věnovat i rodině a přátelům.

Inšpirovaní Talianskom
Taliansko pútalo pozornosť európskych umelcov niekoľko posledných storočí vďaka mimoriadne bohatej kombinácii podnetov. Vďaka svojim antickým pamiatkam predstavovalo krajinu kultúrnej pamäti Európy. Výtvarníci ale aj spisovatelia ho vnímali ako krajinu umenia s nezabudnuteľnými epochami renesancie a baroka. Pre operných spevákov a hudobníkov bolo Taliansko kolískou opery. V neposlednom rade fascinovalo ako krajina s obdivuhodnou stredomorskou prírodou a úchvatnými vidieckymi i mestskými panorámami a stavbami. Fascinácia Talianskom neobišla ani slovenských umelcov z radov výtvarníkov, spisovateľov a operných spevákov. Autor sa v predkladanej publikácii zameriava na 20. storočie a usiluje sa na reprezentatívnej vzorke slovenských umelcov (Mitrovský, Hrušovský, Blaho, Blühová, Hoza, Rolko, Beniak, Jégé, Benka, Petrašovič, Žáry, Dilong, Vesnin, Strmeň, Pudiš, Zmeták, Turčány a ďalší) zdokumentovať, že Taliansko bolo pre slovenských umelcov nezanedbateľnou inšpiračnou studnicou aj v tomto období.
