je investor se zájmy v několika oblastech průmyslu. Po dokončení studií v Oxfordu v roce 1979, kde studoval PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics), pracoval v Asii a USA ve dvou investičních fondech – GT a Thornton. V roce 1991 si založil vlastní podnikání, které se skládá ze dvou složek – investičního fondu Charlemagne Capital a asijské těžební společnosti Regent Pacific. Kromě toho je Jim ředitelem a majoritním akcionářem společnosti Conister Trust (banky se sídlem na ostrově Man), Speymill Group (nemovitosti) a Betinternet. Je také spoluzakladatelem těžebních společností Uramin a Red Dragon Resources a vlastní společnost Burnbrae, která je významným majitelem nemovitostí v Německu a na ostrově Man. Vlastní řetězce hotelů Sleepwell Hotels. Jim tráví hodně času investováním a realizováním vlastních podnikatelských nápadů. Žije na ostrově Man a na Ibize.
