Nevyhlášená válka - Boj o Slovensko 1918-1920
Bývalo zvykem války vyhlašovat. Tato kniha ale pojednává o válce nevyhlášené. Došlo k ní bezprostředně po „řádně vyhlášené“ první světové válce. Vítězné mocnosti rozhodly o rozdělení rakousko-uherské monarchie na několik států. Patřilo k nim i Československo, vzniklé připojením Slovenska k historickým zemím Koruny české. Poražené Uhersko se však nechtělo po staletí okupovaných „Horních Uher“ vzdát. Boje tam trvaly od začátku listopadu 1918 až do počátku roku 1920.
Na jaře 1919 se jich zúčastnila i maďarská Rudá armáda a československé legie. Nakonec museli bolševici ustoupit…
Boj o Slovensko označují historikové právem za válku. Nebyla sice vyhlášená, ale padly v ní stovky vojáků a mnoho tisíc jich bylo raněno i pohřešováno. Byly použity lehké i těžké zbraně, pancéřové vlaky, letadla. A přesto o této válce málokdo u nás ví. Nedávný režim na ni vyhlásil embargo. Důvod? Čs. dobrovolníci přece bojovali proti bolševikům.
A to byl smrtelný hřích!
Kniha Dušana Tomáška tedy pojednává o jedné z „třináctých komnat“ minulého režimu. Je vybavena dobovými fotografiemi, archivními doklady, mapkami bitev, podrobným kalendářem, rozkazy velitelů, medailonky hlavních aktérů atd. a seznamuje čtenáře s bílými místy naší nedávné historie.
V první linii
Autor nastoupil rovnou ze školy, ve věku 18 let, na nejkrvavější úsek Leningradské a Volchovské fronty. Jako
voják Rudé armády došel až do Berlína. Zázrakem zůstal na živu. Svoje vzpomínky na válku napsal proto, aby se
osvobodil od strašných zážitků. Nepočítal s tím, že je bude někdy publikovat, a tak zůstaly 30 let v jeho pracovním
stole. Byly publikovány až na naléhání spolubojovníků, v dobách relativního tání politického napětí v sovětské společnosti.
Čtenář v nich nenajde ani lehké čtivo, ani hurávlastenecké popisy bojů. Obsahem je výpověď o skutečné
podobě války na východní frontě, o které oficiální publikace, ale i nedávné ruské životopisy mlčí. Nad stránkami této knihy mrazí tak otevřená výpověď o drastických činech na obou stranách fronty nemá obdoby.
Po válce a po studiích se N. N. Nikulin stal odborným pracovníkem Ermitáže. Jeho oborem bylo umění starých evropských mistrů, vydal řadu knižních publikací a jako vynikající pedagog vychoval několik generací studentů. Jako vědecký pracovník státní instituce a evropsky uznávaný odborník navštívil několikrát i Západní Německo, kde měl možnost konfrontovat své zážitky s vojáky druhé strany; i o tom píše ve své knihy a i z těchto postřehů mnohdy mrazí. Nikulinovy vzpomínky na válku v první linii nejsou rozhodně vhodnou četbou před spaním.
Knihu doprovázejí unikátní fotografie jednak samotného autora, dále oficiálního fotografa divize, ve které Nikulin sloužil D. F. Onochina a potom snímky H. Vierse, německého vojáka, který bojoval na druhé straně fronty a dlouho po válce se s autorem seznámil a spřátelil

Život za normalizace nebyl idylický. A idylické nebyly ani životní příběhy těch, kdo se normalizování bránili, a dokonce ani oněch aktivních normalizátorů. Režim usiloval především o to, aby každý pocítil sociální jistoty, ale zároveň aby ani na chvíli nezakusil pocit svobodného občanství. Druhá kniha, která vznikla podle cyklu ČT Příběhy 20. století, opět popisuje mnohdy dramatický život v době husákovské normalizace.

Z nouze život, z nouze smrt?
Tématem práce jsou osudy asi pěti tisíc osob židovského původu deportovaných od listopadu 1944 do března 1945 nacistickými okupačními orgány ze Slovenského štátu do koncentračních táborů Sachsenhausen, Ravensbrück, Bergen-Belsen a do terezínského ghetta.
Na základě obsahové a komparativní analýzy poznatků získaných studiem archivních dokumentů, na základě svědectví přeživších a v omezené míře i studiem sekundární literatury se autor snaží vysvětlit jednání pachatelů a obětí i obecnější historické souvislosti této kapitoly v dějinách válečného Slovenska. Z rozboru pramenů vyplývají i obecnější poznatky k vývoji konečného řešení židovské otázky v evropských zemích ovládaných nacistickým Německem.

Sturmgeschütz
V roce 1940 získaly jednotky, jimž velel generál Erich von Manstein, zastánce myšlenky obrněných prvků u pěchoty, 30 strojů Sturmgeschütz a tak se zrodila nová vojenská síla – Sturmartillerie. Útočné dělo Sturmgeschütz bylo původně plánováno jako podpůrná zbraň pěchoty, která měla likvidovat kulometná hnízda a v omezené míře plnit úlohu protitankové zbraně. Poté, co se vozidlo StuG osvědčilo u Sturmartillerie, začalo se nasazovat u různých dalších typů jednotek, jako Waffen-SS, Panzerjäger a polní jednotky Luftwaffe, i u pěších divizí.
Na východní frontě byl Sturmgeschütz schopen porazit i vynikající střední tanky T-34 a těžké tanky KV. Jak má Anderson ve zvyku, jeho text oživují četné citace z bojových hlášení, hodnocení, tabulky a statistiky. Veškerý uveřejněný materiál je založen na válečné dokumentaci, z níž velká část je uložena hlavně v archivech NARA a Bundesarchiv/Militärarchiv.
