Monografie Eseje z pomezí představuje šest teoreticky ukotvených studií věnovaných konkrétní poesii jako specifickému intermediálnímu fenoménu operujícímu na průsečíku textu a obrazu, jazyka a vizuality, lineárního čtení a prostorové percepce. Texty reflektují genezi, poetiku i ideová východiska tohoto směru, jenž vznikl v 50. letech 20. století jako reakce na jazykovou krizi poválečné avantgardy a jehož recepce v posledních dvou dekádách nabyla nové intenzity v kontextu digitální kultury.
Autor se soustřeďuje na distinktivní znaky klasické konkrétní poesie a kriticky se vymezuje vůči jejím častým popularizačním dezinterpretacím, které ji zaměňují za vizuální poesii (zejména kaligramy), typografický experiment (typewriter art), konceptuální poesii či tzv. „vispo“. Důraz je kladen na komparativní pohled, který zohledňuje rozdíly mezi národními tradicemi (např. skupina Noigandres v Brazílii, Ulmer Textgruppe v Německu či britské konkrétní hnutí), a na analýzu estetických a mediálních strategií, jimiž se konkrétní poesie vymezuje vůči diskurzivnímu jazyku i klasické typografii.
Eseje zároveň tematizují současné formy (post)digitální a kinetické konkrétní poesie a sledují jejich vztah k historickému odkazu – ať už ve formě přímé kontinuity, apropriace, nebo kritického přehodnocení. Kniha tak nabízí nejen historicko-poetologickou syntézu, ale i přínos k širším diskurzům o intermediálních praktikách, materialitě textu a vizuální epistemologii.
Zahrady toskánských velkovévodů mezi Itálií a Čechami 1737-1849
Autorka předkládá čtenářům výsledky svých jedinečných výzkumů týkajících se osobnosti skutečně evropského významu – zahradního architekta Josefa Fritsche (narozen v Čechách, činný zejména v Toskánsku). Petra Březáčková jako vůbec první analyzuje proměny neformálních zahrad v majetku habsbursko-lotrinské dynastie mezi Toskánskem a Čechami v letech 1737 až 1849. Kniha zahrnuje kapitoly věnované genezi „anglických“ neboli neformálních zahrad, jejich šíření v Itálii a ve střední Evropě, zabývá se nejen dobovými teoretickými spisy o zahradním umění, ale také intelektuálním životem Florencie druhé třetiny 18. století. Dokumentová příloha obsahuje odborníky velmi ceněné transkripce vybraných, dosud nepublikovaných archivních materiálů. Kromě rozboru cenných archiválií je v publikaci kladen důraz také na historicko-kulturní kontext někdejšího Velkovévodství toskánského v perspektivě nových estetických a etických tendencí 18. století a první poloviny 19. století – tedy zejména osvícenectví, zednářství a romantismu.

We humans are diverse. But how to understand human diversity in the case of cognitive diversity? This Element discusses how to properly investigate human behavioural and cognitive diversity, how to scientifically represent, and how to explain cognitive diversity. Since there are various methodological approaches and explanatory agendas across the cognitive and behavioural sciences, which can be more or less useful for understanding human diversity, a critical analysis is needed. The Undulating Capacity of the State
This Element weaves together literatures on autochthony and belonging and on African urbanism to shed new light on the ability of the African state to undertake development interventions in some of the most important urban centers on the continent. It explains variations in levels of trust in the African state that shape neighborhoods' responses to states' development interventions. Focusing on the Senegalese state's construction of the VDN 2 highway on the outskirts of the capital, Dakar, the author argues that in major African cities with colonial origins, whether neighborhoods project themselves as 'autochthonous' or 'migrant' communities shapes general attitudes toward the state and influences the capacity of the state to carry out development interventions in these areas. In these cities, states are more likely to successfully intervene in neighborhoods dominated by 'new' migrants to the city than in those neighborhoods that portray themselves as 'autochthones' of these cities.
