Prvý slovenský výkladový slovník najdôležitejších pojmov z oblasti školského hodnotenia, skúšok a testov. Obsahuje 423 hesiel s výkladom, komentármi a praktickými odporúčaniami pre učiteľov základných a stredných škôl.
Nejde o vedecký text. Kniha je určená pedagógom, ktorých nezaujímajú terminologické nuansy a presné citácie, ale praktické odporúčania, ako postupovať pri hodnotení výkonov žiakov. Nájdu ich v komentároch k jednotlivým heslám.
Hodnotenie výkonov žiakov sa týka všetkých škôl, všetkých učiteľov, všetkých predmetov – patrí medzi kľúčové kompetencie učiteľa. Je preto prekvapujúce, že príslušná legislatíva je v zlom stave, že v rámci prípravy učiteľov je hodnoteniu venovaná nedostatočná pozornosť a že na školách vládne v tejto oblasti priveľká ľubovôľa. Aj preto prichádza kniha, ktorej ambíciou je v tejto téme „poupratovať“.
V obdobných slovníkoch sú heslá zvyčajne radené podľa abecedy. Je to praktické, keď chceme vyhľadať konkrétne heslo, ale má to aj nevýhody: takéto slovníky nemožno čítať ako bežnú knihu či učebnicu, pretože poradie hesiel je nelogické. Autor preto zvolil iný prístup: heslá sú rozdelené do 18 tematických kapitol a v rámci nich sú zoradené do zmysluplného poradia. Knihu tak možno čítať aj ako súvislý študijný text.
