Silkworm's Pansori
Inspired by the traditional Korean sijo, David Seung’s first poetry collection reflects on the country’s struggle for independence and his own family’s sacrifices in achieving itThe debut book of poems by David Seung, Silkworm''s Pansori is a collection of English-language sijo poems: a traditional Korean poetic form that is straightforward in its syntax but emotionally nuanced. Following this historical form closely, these are poems of elegance and subtlety, like painted still lifes imbued with heartbreaking subtlety and metaphor. Yet the poet can only get so far with this exercise before his own personal Korean history, a family legacy of war and torture, starts creeping in to shatter the otherwise poetic calm. Inserted toward the end of the book is the Korean Declaration of Independence; among the signers is the poet''s great-great-grandfather. Asking the reader to contextualize this document with the history of sijo and his own family saga, Seung gracefully addresses generations of anger and pain, and reflects on the intricacies of human existence.David Seung is a Korean American stand-up comedian and writer. If Only for a Moment (I'll Never Be Young Again)
Jaime Gil de Biedma is the most original and influential among the poets known as the ''50''s Generation in Spain, and is considered the greatest Spanish poet to emerge in the second half of the 20th century. His life and literary career were bracketed almost entirely by the rise and fall of Generalissimo Francisco Franco, notorious for the suppression of literature. Born in 1929, he was six years old when García Lorca was murdered in Granada at the outbreak if the Civil War, and his collected poems, Las personas del verbo, first appeared in 1975, the year Franco died. What is surprising is that Gil de Biedma was a leftist, homosexual poet from the Catalan capitol, Barcelona – all of Franco''s favorite things – who not only published books of autobiographical poetry in Spain but was known as a poet of social conscience as well as erotic lyricism. Like other Spanish poets of his time, he chose his words carefully.

Tak to cítim
Slovo básne je ako dobrý trójsky koník. Otvorte mu dvere do svojho vnútra! Keď vo Vás prehovorí, máte šancu cez autora vidieť svoje vlastné túžby, ale aj nepokoje, lásky i sklamania. Cítiť, kam sa pohol svet, kým sme mlčali, kým sme prehliadali, čo nám vzal a k čomu sa treba opäť vrátiť.
Zbierka básní “Tak to cítim” je plná človeka. Možno aj tak sa dá pomenovať to, čím sa prihovárajú básne tejto knižky. Len na nás záleží nakoľko máme pre ne otvorené.
Ján Nagajda je členom Spolku slovenských spisovateľov a je skúseným a talentovaným autorom. Niekto zažiari ako meteor a pohasne. Ďalší sa zas roky kryštalizuje. Iný po čase začne stagnovať a prešľapuje na mieste. Nagajda je však stále rovnako kvalitný. Takýchto autorov je potrebné si chrániť. A čítať! Nepíšu len pre seba. Zďaleka nie len pre seba. V dobrej poézii sa zrkadlia naše vlastné pocity, autor prenáša seba k nám, vkladá seba do nás a my sami používame jeho zrkadlo, aby sme sa zhliadli v tej najpravdivejšej podobe. Vidieť a nachádzať seba v druhom. Zvnútorňovať vonkajšie, vysielať obraz toho vnútorného. Básne Jána Nagajdu v zbierke básní Tak to cítim sú súčasné a živé. Na nič sa nehrá. „Len“ ľúbi a spomína a robí to s espritom a gráciou. Je autentický, nemôže nebyť invenčný. Inak sa nedá, pretože inak to ani nevie. Poézia Jána Nagajdu je jemnučko dráždivá, no svojou povahou cudná, ľúbostná a živelná v citovom vzplanutí, dráždivo zmyselná, ale stále vkusná, zavše aj taká, že z nej zavanie chlad trpkých výčitiek a zaznieva ozvena nezodpovedaných otázok. V týchto rovinách je Nagajda skutočne pôsobivý. Možno jeden z najpôsobivejších súčasných slovenských básnikov.

Básnická transcendencia, 2. vydanie
Druhé vydanie Básnickej transcendencie Milana Hamadu prichádza v čase, keď sa mnohé otázky po zmysle slova, po pravde jazyka a po role umenia v živote človeka znovu a naliehavo vynárajú. Básnická transcendencia vyšla pôvodne v roku 1969 a zahŕňa texty z rokov 1965 – 1968. Vo svojom druhom vydaní prináša okrem pôvodných textov aj päť ďalších esejí, ktoré neskôr vyšli v knihe Sizyfovský údel (1994). Tieto eseje nie sú len záznamom jednej fázy slovenského myslenia o literatúre, ale stále živým dialógom s tým, čo v nás zostáva básnické. Transcendencia je tu chápaná ako schopnosť literatúry presahovať vlastný jazyk, tvar či techniku a dotýkať sa človeka v jeho celistvosti. Hamada sám chápal svoje poslanie a vôbec poslanie jemu podobných ľudí ako sizyfovský údel. Je potrebné neustále sa snažiť o dobro a humanitu, aj keď sa nám opakovane nedarí ich vo svete presadiť.
Pruské noci
Pruské noci jsou jediným básnickým dílem Alexandra Solženicyna. Tato bezvýhradná, značně autobiografická výpověď svědomí a pravdy vznikala v pracovních táborech někdy během padesátých let. Sotvakdo jiný z ruských básníků, nikoli jen těch ze Solženicynovy generace, vylíčil vítězného vojína jako normálního člověka s hříšnou duši. Z legendárního ruského hrdiny se tu stává i kořistník, násilník a posléze i kajícník a v podtextu závěrečného poslání i pacifista. Jde o specifické dílo nejen pro autora, který se sám války účastnil, ale i pro celou ruskou poezii. Svědectví důstojníka sovětské armády z druhé světové války je bohužel znovu aktuální.

Kolobeh
František Ruščák, doc., PhDr., CSc.,mim. prof., sa narodil 15. novembra 1941 v Jenkovciach, okres Sobrance. Po základnej škole v rodnej obci a gymnaziálnom štúdiu v Sobranciach absolvoval vysokoškolské štúdium na Pedagogickej fakulte v Prešove UPJŠ v Košiciach (odbor slovenský jazyk a literatúra– história) a štúdium vedeckej ašpirantúry v odbore slovenský jazyk na Filozofickej fakulte v Prešove UPJŠ v Košiciach (školitelia akademik Ľudovít Novák, univ. prof. Ján Horecký). Učil na Základnej škole v Humennom, na Strednej odbornej škole chemickej v Humennom a od roku 1975 na Katedre slovenského jazyka a literatúry Pedagogickej fakulty v Prešove UPJŠ v Košiciach a na Katedre slovenského jazyka a literatúry Fakulty humanitných a prírodných vied Prešovskej univerzity v Prešove (tam aj ako vedúci katedry). Vedeckovýskumne, publikačne a učiteľsky sa venoval štylistike a rétorike, didaktike slohu, náboženským žánrom a teoreticko-praktickým otázkam textu.
Je autorom troch vedeckých monografií, desiatok vedeckých štúdií v domácich a zahraničných odborných časopisoch a vedeckých zborníkoch. V súčasnosti sa venuje písaniu poézie; doposiaľ mu vyšli tri básnické zbierky – Láska má tvar štvorrozmerný;
So sebou a s vami; V množine života. Žije a tvorí v Prešove.
