Publikácia Spiace idey – Denníky Otisa Lauberta je prvým zväzkom z pripravovanej knižnej série, prostredníctvom ktorej sa výtvarník Otis Laubert (1946) rozhodol prezentovať svoje doteraz nezverejnené návrhy umeleckých diel.
Otis Laubert si už od roku 1965 zaznamenáva svoje nápady do denníkov, aby ich realizoval neskôr. Dodnes si zaznamenal už vyše desaťtisíc výtvarných ideí, avšak fyzicky zrealizované diela, ktorými je známy, predstavujú len malé percento z nich. Väčšina jeho nápadov tak zostáva pred verejnosťou ukrytá. Knižné spracovanie denníkov Otisa Lauberta nám umožňuje objaviť tematickú rozmanitosť a pestrosť výtvarných techník v tvorbe tohto známeho slovenského výtvarníka. Výtvarné nápady prezentované vo forme kresieb sú v knihe doplnené sprievodnými textami od osobností z oblasti kultúry. Autormi textov v prvom zväzku sú Daniela Čarná, Alexander Balogh a Jaro Rihák.

Black Art

Publikace Hany Bilavčíkové vychází z dizertačního projektu, který se zabýval výzkumem techniky malby studentů krajinářské školy Julia Mařáka na Akademii výtvarných umění v Praze na konci 19. století. Projekt byl zaměřen na techniku tempery v díle Antonína Slavíčka. Předkládaná studie reflektuje získané informace v kontextu historického vývoje a klade si za cíl prohloubit poznání tématu díky výsledkům současných restaurátorských průzkumových metod. Cílem bylo také charakterizovat díla a nalézt souvislosti v technologiích malby, dále zjistit, odkud pocházejí barvy Syntonos a zmapovat jejich použití u vybraných autorů v kontextu Mařákovy školy.

Hiroshige

This catalog for a retrospective of the work of the sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti (1901-66) appraises all of the artist's periods and mediums, from sculpture (plaster, bronze) to painting, drawings and prints, and from early works of the Surrealist period, to his return to figuration, his work from models and the creation of the great postwar sculptures for which he is legendary.
Giacometti's oeuvre is divided into 14 sections exploring the themes favored by the artist, such as the representation of the head, the face or the female body. Quentin Blake, like many illustrators, works essentially in isolation. In normal times he would make two daily trips to his office across the square from where he lives to see what business there was for him to deal with. But during the lockdowns he had no such distractions and demands made of his time. There was still some commissioned works; he finished two books and he did some work for charities raising funds to deal with the lockdowns. But Quentin had a lot more time to explore his visual interests and go wherever his imagination took him.
Some of these series were drawn at 6.00 am while he was still in bed. The medium he used for each series was partly decided by whatever was to hand; pencil, biro or Sennelier oil pastels. Similarly, the size, colour and quality of the paper would be decided by what was available.
This book is an edited selection of over 3,000 drawings Quentin produced from March 2020 to February 2021; a portfolio of new personal work, not commissioned and not meant for publication. They provide a unique insight into what happens when a great artist is left to his own devices.
