Jiri Hauschka
Jiří Hauschka (narozen 1965 v Šumperku) se obrací k tomu typu malířství, pro které jsou důležité barvy a symbolické konotace, tak jak tomu bylo na přelomu 19. a 20. století v tomto období se Jiří Hauschka vztahuje zejména ke kanadskému malíři Tomovi Thomsonovi, který žil v letech 1877 až 1917 či jak se děje v ateliérech soudobých autorů, jako jsou kupříkladu Daniel Richter nebo Peter Doig. Realita se proměňuje v malířské naraci na vrstevnaté vyprávění, kde se mísí umělecká paměť s novými zážitky, pohledy, touhami, citovými zjitřeními. V případě Jiřího Hauschky se ocitáme v divočině, v divočině malířské nostalgie, kde hledáme člověka, a v urbánní civilizaci, v té civilizaci, která je na pokraji svých možností a kde tak cítíme a vidíme barvy divočiny.

Jiří Hauschka (born 1965 in Šumperk) turns to this type of painting method that utilizes colours and symbolic connotations, prevalent at the turn of the 20th century he positions himself in that period next to the Canadian painter Tom Thomson (18771917) and used by contemporary painters such as Daniel Richter or Peter Doig. Reality is transformed by the painters narration into layered storytelling, where the artists memory is interspersed with new experiences, views, desires and emotional turbulences. In the case of Jiri Hauschka, we find ourselves in the wilderness of painter nostalgia, where we look for the conceptual person, and in urban civilization, which has barely any options left and where we can therefore feel and see the colours of wilderness.
The authors of the texts are Martin Dostál and the famous British art historian Edward Lucie-Smith.

It traces the artist's practice back to its roots, revealing her unique working process and the origins of the formal and conceptual strategies she has applied throughout her oeuvre. Bringing together a selection drawn from every major series of her work, it also reproduces sketchbooks, journals and preparatory drawings that document her extensive process of research and development.

Tvorba Bohuslavy Olešové je patrně nejvíce známá pro expresivní voskové práce na papíře a malby s využitím gesticky prorývaných barevných ploch. Promlouvají k nám vířivé dynamické lineární shluky, v nichž se prorytými linkami odkrývají spodní vrstvy, a žádný z obrazů není prvoplánově a jednoznačně uchopitelný. Práce s vrstvami způsobuje, že některé prvky jsou na první pohled viditelné, zatímco mnohé jiné jen v náznacích prosvítají a nutí nás přemýšlet o tom, co je skryto.
Egon Schiele
The monograph on Egon Schiele edited by Rudolf Leopold in 1972 forms the basis for Egon Schiele's world fame. This important document of art-historical literature has long been out of print, but it is now available once more in a revised edition with an updated catalogue raisonne. At the same time this magnificent volume provides an insight into the artist's life through letters, sketches and documents.
Rudolf Leopold recognised back in the 1950s Schiele's outstanding significance for art. He was largely responsible for ensuring that the artist received the place he deserved in art history and public awareness. The monograph presented Schiele's paintings, watercolours and drawings chronologically in large-format colour plates. It is complemented by a profound examination of his motifs, studies, sketches and documents and provides a comprehensive overview. The current edition pays tribute to Leopold's achievement and the revised catalogue raisonne reflects the current state of research.
Frida Kahlo, Paintings
Among the few women artists who have transcended art history, none had a meteoric rise quite like Mexican painter Frida Kahlo (1907-1954). Her unmistakable face, depicted in over fifty extraordinary self-portraits, has been admired by generations; along with hundreds of photographs taken by notable artists such as Edward Weston, Manuel and Lola Alvarez Bravo, Nickolas Muray, and Martin Munkacsi, they made Frida Kahlo an iconic image of 20th century art.
After an accident in her early youth, Frida became a painter of her own free will. Her marriage to Diego Rivera in 1929 placed her at the forefront of an artistic scene not only in the cultural Renaissance of Mexico, but also in the United States. Jiří Šalamoun / Nic k zahození
Jiří Šalamoun patří bezpochyby mezi klíčové osobnosti českého výtvarného umění druhé poloviny 20. století.
Narodil se roku 1935 v Praze, kde studoval na AVU obor volné grafiky. V 50. letech rovněž vystudoval ilustraci a typografii na Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst v Lipsku. Po sametové revoluci byl dlouholetým profesorem pražské UMPRUM. Dnes má Jiří Šalamoun za sebou nespočet vydaných knížek se svými ilustracemi, velkých i menších grafických listů, plakátů, ilustrací do časopisů, výtvarných návrhů k animovaným filmům a autorským knihám. Jeho tvůrčí historie je všestranně bohatá a ověnčená řadou významných domácích i zahraničních cen. Jeho dílo dodnes fascinuje nejen řemeslnou poctivostí, ale i živým uměleckým vyjádřením, výtvarnou zkratkou, humorem a nadsázkou.
Monografická kniha Nic k zahození přináší dosud nejširší průřez tvorbou Jiřího Šalamouna s přihlédnutím k vzájemným inspiracím a impulsům mezi ilustrací, grafikou a filmem. Bohatství obrazového materiálu, řazeného chronologicky do jednotlivých tematických kapitol, dokládá autorovu všestrannost i jeho fenomenální výtvarné nadání.
Knihu lze chápat také jako jakýsi čtenářský deník druhé poloviny 20. století, kdy knižní kultura v Čechách dosahovala vynikající úrovně, a navzdory tehdejšímu režimu vycházela řada kvalitní domácí i zahraniční literatury s jedinečným výtvarným doprovodem. Nic k zahození není tedy jen svědectvím o jednom naplněném tvůrčím životě, ale (doufejme) též inspirací k četbě knih dříve vydaných a možná občas i trochu zapomenutých.

Jim Hodges is an artist who addresses issues such as memory, love, and existential struggles through a multifaceted practice that includes photography, screen printing, and sculpture. Elina Brotherus
Elina Brotherus (* 1972 in Helsink) works in photography and moving image. Her work has been alternating between autobiographical and art-historical approaches. Photographs dealing with the human figure and the landscape, the relation of the artist and the model, gave way to images on subjective experiences.
Why not? is the artist's first solo exhibition in a German museum and consists of around forty photographic works and two videos. A catalogue is appearing with illustrations of all the works and essays which both continue and deepen the discourse.

Although he is most often celebrated as a painter, Paul Cézanne's extraordinary vision was fueled by his experiments on paper. In pencil and watercolor, on individual sheets and across the pages of sketchbooks, the artist described form through multiple probing lines; realized compositions through repetitions and transformations; and conjured kaleidoscopic color through layering of watercolor. It is in these material realities of drawing where we see Cézanne at his most modern: embracing the unfinished, making process visible and actively inviting the viewer to participate in the act of perception. Christo and Jeanne-Claude
Christo and Jeanne-Claude: the man with the glasses and the woman with the red hair. Each one was born on the same day in 1935, and this unusual artist couple worked together until Jeanne-Claude's death in 2009, changing the art world in the process. In order to finance these enormous works of art by themselves, Christo and Jeanne-Claude began making editions early on in their career-prints, collages, and objects.
