Art Nouveau - Glasgow, Amsterdam, New York
Art Nouveau developed in very different forms between the 1880s and the First World War, starting in Western Europe. Organic lines and plant forms, building in iron, glass, and concrete, as well as the idea of the "Gesamtkunstwerk" (Complete work of art) can be found in London, Glasgow, and Riga as well as in St. Petersburg and Moscow. But above all in the Scandinavian countries and in Eastern Europe, Art Nouveau often developed into a young national style of its own, frequently with a return to regional traditions. In other countries, such as the Netherlands or the USA, the path seems to lead directly into Modernity, especially in architecture.
Jiří Příhoda
Kniha přináší svědectví o pozoruhodných dílech předního českého sochaře Jiřího Příhody, vytvořených během posledních deseti let, kdy žil v texaském Austinu. Publikace obsahuje jednak cyklus mimořádně hravých a přitom pronikavých variací na téma prostoru a formy, a také pokus o nahlédnutí do způsobu uvažování, z nějž tato díla vzešla. Viera Kraicová – Obrazy
Viera Kraicová (5.júl 1920, Modra – 29.apríl 2012, Bratislava) bola významná predstaviteľka slovenskej maľby a ilustrácie, ktorej tvorba sa vymyká generačným nástupom a škatuľkám súdobých výtvarných tendencií. Hoci bola výtvarne a výstavne činná už od štyridsiatych rokov, začiatok jej zrelej tvorby v rámci slobodného autorského hľadania sa datuje až do konca päťdesiatych a začiatku šesťdesiatych rokov 20.storočia. V tom čase založila s kolegyňami z pražských štúdií Skupinu 4 (1958 – 1966) a začali spoločne vystavovať.
V zbierke Galérie Nedbalka sú zastúpené Kraicovej obrazové experimenty na hranici abstraktného a figuratívneho zobrazenia, spontánne gestické maľby, ale aj jej utiahnutejšie, imaginatívne figuratívne polohy či návrat k farebnej škvrne ako hlavnému výrazového prostriedku a sprostredkovateľke emocionálneho výrazu.

Vermeer

Palo Macho (doplnené vydanie)
Palo Macho (1965) patrí k výrazným predstaviteľom súčasného umeleckého skla. Prepája farby so sklom (jeho povrchom) na podobných princípoch, ako je tomu v klasickej maľbe. Nemá však k dispozícii plátno, ale sklenenú platňu, nie farby, ktorých tóny vidí okamžite, ale sklárske emaily, listre a drahé kovy, ktoré svoj výsledný odtieň vydajú až potom, čo prejdú taviacim a vypaľovacím procesom v sklárskej peci. Maľba má niekoľko vrstiev: podmaľba sa prekrýva s vnútornou maľbou i s maľbou na povrchu. Aj preto musí byť všetko vopred vymyslené, naplánované, overené. Machove maľby na skle, sú zvláštnym druhom maliarstva. K všetkým týmto výrazovým prostriedkom pristupuje ešte jeden aktívny a kľúčový prvok – transparentnosť sklenej tabule a s ňou aj svetlo, ktoré je schopné meniť, dotvárať a oživovať vnímanie jeho diel.

Celobarevná výpravná monografie malíře a ilustrátora Miroslava Pospíšila s úvodním slovem Milana Krejčího. Hlavním tématem umělcovy tvorby je dobrodružství, často inspirované příběhy Karla Maye. Tato publikace ale představuje i nemayovskou tvář malíře, která ukazuje jeho talent a možnosti v šíři, o níž mnohdy nevědělo ani jeho blízké okolí.

Peter Blake: Collage
Peter Blake (b. 1932) has remained constant and groundbreaking in his exploration of the medium of collage throughout his career spanning seven decades. Most recognised for his iconic 1967 cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, Blake already understood the potential of collage as an art form as a student at the Royal College of Art in the 1950s, where his reputation as a founder and key proponent of the Pop Art movement was established.
An avid collector, Blake's collages combine junkyard treasures and found objects with images from popular culture. He revisits themes drawn from his childhood - the entertainments of the circus, the glamour of the cinema and the showmanship of the wrestling ring - weaving detailed, often humorous narratives. From his early paintings depicting assembled fragments of popular imagery, to his found-object constructions and his most recent inkjet print collages, Blake has broadened the scope of what collage can be and communicate.
Peter Blake Collage provides the first comprehensive survey of Peter Blake's work in the medium. It features a foreword by David Hockney, an essay by Patrick Elliott, Chief Curator of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, a recent interview with Peter Blake by Natalie Rudd, Senior Curator of the Arts Council Collection, over 250 colour reproductions and a newly compiled illustrated chronology.

Všímáte si brněnských soch? Víte, že Univerzitní kampus Bohunice je vlastně pozoruhodným sochařským parkem? A znáte nové sochy v ulicích města?
Masarykova univerzita vydala pod záštitou paní primátorky JUDr. Markéty Vaňkové a pana rektora prof. MUDr. Martina Bareše, Ph.D., druhé doplněné vydání česko-anglické knihy Sochařské Brno 1989-2019. První kapitola představuje cyklus Sochy pro Brno (sochy věnované osobnostem spjatým s dějinami města, jako např. W. A. Mozart, J. Skácel, T. A. Edison aj.). Druhá kapitola přibližuje sochy v areálech Masarykovy univerzity, třetí dokumentuje sochařská sympozia a čtvrtá připomíná mezinárodní přehlídku Brno Art Open / Sochy v ulicích. Nová kapitola nazvaná Čím se provinilo město se zamýšlí nad nesnadnou úlohou vedení města při podpoře sochařského umění.
Kniha v reprezentativní grafické úpravě představuje na 290 stranách 179 fotografií celkem 130 děl a 100 stručných medailonů sochařek a sochařů. Na schematické mapě ukazuje rozmístění soch. První vydání ze září 2019 bylo již na jaře 2020 vyprodáno.

Though The Scream is undoubtedly his best-known piece, Edvard Munch's body of work extends far beyond this silent howl to encompass a wide practice across paint, pastel and print. The joint effort of ten scholars, and first published in 2013 to great acclaim, this volume offers a comprehensive survey of Munch's inimitable contributions to modern art. The publication covers many aspects of Munch's versatile artistic practice, with a focus on specific themes and phenomena that characterize his work. The texts offer a fresh look at Munch's oeuvre in the context of modernism, highlighting the issues that the artist grappled with throughout his career: the relationship between art and reality, the artist and the public, and Munch's misgivings about modernism and his place in the world. With a thorough bibliography, a timeline of the artist's life, and excerpts of Munch's own writing, this monograph proves to be a most comprehensive tribute to the artist. Edvard Munch (1863-1944) was born in rural Norway before his parents moved to Oslo (then called Kristiana). He grew up under the influence of frequent family illness, both mental and physical, and would later use his art as a means of expressing his turbulent psychological state. He studied at the Royal School of Art and Design in Oslo and spent time in Paris and Berlin. Most of his work managed to survive the Nazi purges of "degenerate art."
Spring Cannot be Cancelled
On turning eighty, David Hockney sought out rustic tranquillity for the first time: a place to watch the sunset and the change of the seasons; a place to keep the madness of the world at bay. So when Covid-19 and lockdown struck, it made little difference to life at La Grande Cour, the centuries-old Normandy farmhouse where Hockney set up a studio a year before, in time to paint the arrival of spring. In fact, he relished the enforced isolation as an opportunity for even greater devotion to his art.

Kniha představuje jednotlivé semestrální projekty a relevantní texty z již publikovaných katalogů (od autorů nebo přizvaných teoretiků), medailony umělců, kteří v daném období ateliér vedli a studentskou reflexi, zpracovanou formou rozhovorů. Její součástí jsou také dva teoretické příspěvky, které se zabývají obecnějšími problémy uměleckého vzdělávání a ukazují konkrétní genealogii Šalounova ateliéru.
