Warships at Dunkirk 1940
Illustrated throughout, this uncovers the hundreds of British and French warships in the Dunkirk evacuation, whose actions have been overshadowed by the fame of the ‘Little Ships’. In this book, naval historian Angus Konstam examines the backbone of the Dunkirk evacuation fleet: the warships of the Royal Navy and French Navy that were ordered into action to rescue the British Expeditionary Force. Nearly 50 destroyers, an anti-aircraft cruiser, and more than 200 MTBs, minesweepers, trawlers, and other small warships were involved, as many as could be spared without recklessly endangering naval strength. He highlights the lack of decent anti-aircraft defences available to the Allies in 1940, and shows how improvised weaponry were used to help fend off the Stukas. Dunkirk was the first naval operation of World War II to be carried out under sustained air attack, and nearly a fifth of the destroyers and a quarter of the smaller vessels were sunk, with more badly damaged. Illustrated with archive photos, profiles illustrating the range of both British and French warships involved, and dramatic original artwork, this studies the naval side of the greatest evacuation of World War II.

In 1943, there were more than 60 prisoner of war camps throughout Mussolini's Italy. Behind barbed wire and under the guards' dark gaze were captive Allied soldiers. Adolf Hitler poskytol počas svojej politickej kariéry zahraničnej tlači viac ako sto rozhovorov. Novinári z celého sveta ho považovali za fascinujúceho respondenta. Popredný nemecký novinár Lutz Hachmeister v tejto knihe vôbec prvýkrát v dejinách podáva ucelený prehľad interview s nemeckým diktátorom a zároveň si kladie otázku: Aké poučenie z nich plynie?
Prvé dlhšie rozhovory s „bavorským Mussolinim“ vyšli ešte pred jeho pokusom o puč v roku 1923. Právní biografie jednoho fideikomisu
Monografie je detailní sondou do problematiky právního života institutu rodinného fideikomisu šlechty na příkladu jediného svěřenství rodiny Schliků na panstvích Kopidlno a Staré Hrady. V časovém rozmezí více než 300 let se snaží představit proměny zřízení, které bylo vůlí zůstavitele plánováno jako neměnné a trvající na věčné časy, přestože se od počátku měnilo a nakonec zaniklo. Předmětem zájmu jsou zejména zásadní momenty, jakými je založení institutu, přechody držby na nové nástupce spojené často se soudními spory a v neposlední řadě jeho pozoruhodný zánik a velmi krátké – o to však pozoruhodnější – "skorovzkříšení", ke kterému došlo v roce 1926, dva roky po zrušení fideikomisů v Československu. Právě zamýšlená perpetuita fideikomisů způsobuje, že nároky vyplývající z těchto vyhaslých či zrušených institutů, se mohou čas od času objevit i v současných soudních řízeních, což je koneckonců i případ schlikovského rodinného fideikomisu. Hlubší zpracování korpusu dalších šlechtických fideikomisů je proto žádoucí nejen z pohledu právních dějin, ale našlo by své uplatnění i v recentním právu. Předkládaná případová studie nabízí způsob, jak k tomu tématu, které je pro každý fideikomis vždy individuální, během zpracování přistupovat.
Nálepka nemocná holka
Tahle knížka vznikla ze života. Z toho obyčejného i neobyčejného, co se nám prostě děje. Je v ní příběh dívky - dnes už dospělé ženy, které kdysi řekli, že její nemoc „není slučitelná se životem“. A je zde i příběh ženy, která se s ní potkala ve chvíli, kdy už měla svou vlastní nálepku dávno strženou… a mohla jí podat ruku a říct: „Pojď. Objev svoji sílu.“

A hlavně o tom, že i naše „ne-moc“ může být zvláštní, nečekanou, ale nakonec zajímavou zkratkou zpátky k vlastní moci. K životu, který si dovolíme žít naplno. A klidně i s humorem, i když zrovna okolnosti mu nepřejí.
V téhle knize se naše dva světy přirozeně proplétají - ani nevíme jak, prostě se to stalo. Jedna z nás přišla na svět naprosto zdravá a zdraví bylo pro ni vždycky něco jako vzduch - prostě tady je. Druhá se narodila s diagnózou, která jí neměla dovolit vůbec žít.
A přesto tu dnes stojíme obě. Každá s jiným začátkem, ale s touhou pochopit, co to vlastně znamená být živá.
Možná právě v tom je kouzlo téhle knížky. Neřeší jen nemoc a zdraví. Je spíš o setkání dvou pohledů, dvou cest, dvou srdcí - které se navzájem obohacují a připomínají si, že život má mnoho vrstev. My přejeme naší knize, aby zůstala živá. Aby si v ní každý našel třeba jen jednu větu, jeden pocit nebo jeden úsměv, který mu zůstane. Válka ševců
Obuv je materiální konstantou lidské existence. Před první světovou válkou bychom v českých a rakouských zemích nalezli výrobce obuvi téměř v každé obci. Počátkem 20. století začalo obuvnictví ve střední Evropě procházet dynamickou proměnou. Naprosto zásadní roli v tomto procesu sehrála Velká válka, hromadné zakázky vojenské obuvi a postupné prosazování strojní práce. Na procesu opožděné industrializace obuvnické výroby se podílela několik aktérů, počínaje malovýrobci přes výrobní družstva obuvi až po plně mechanizované továrny soustředěné ve Vídni a v českých zemích. V meziválečném Československu se obuvnictví stalo jedním z hlavních exportních oborů.
Monografie Válka ševců je věnována navrhování, výrobě, distribuci, spotřebě a recyklaci obuvi jako strategického konzumního statku v době první světové války. Interpretačně je založena na metodě životního cyklu výrobku. Důraz na životní cyklus výrobku učinil z civilní a vojenské obuvi téma odborných debat, nepostradatelnou součást vojenské výstroje, předmět výrobních experimentů s novými či úspornými materiály i druhy obuvi a v neposlední řadě rovněž symbolickou zbraň v boji proti dopadům válečné mizérie.

Světlo blízkosti
Tato kniha vznikala z ticha, z naslouchání lidským příběhům a z dlouholeté zkušenosti doprovázení lidí v bolesti, ztrátě a křehkých vztazích. Autorka v ní otevírá témata, která se často odehrávají skrytě – neodpuštění mezi rodiči a dětmi, přerušené rodinné vazby, bolest, kterou nelze snadno pojmenovat, i tiché volání po smíření a přijetí. Jednotlivé kapitoly vycházejí z osobních setkání, životních příběhů i vlastního hledání. Autorka se nevyhýbá těžkým tématům – smrti, osamělosti, sebevraždě, rodinným konfliktům –, a přesto jimi neprochází bez naděje.
