Motherland
Parangole is an annual, independent journal that challenges ideas on urbanization, design and architecture by initiating a global dialogue on topics such as mobility, migration, fluidity and multiplicity. The journal expands on the cultural, social and political significance of what it means to live in the city. The title of the magazine pays homage to the work of Brazilian artist Helio Oiticica, extending his central tenet that "life is movement" from the body to the city. The first issue of Parangole, titled Motherland, focuses on the space of habitation for those who live in precarious and transitory conditions due to economic hardship, conflict, and violence. People on the move face unique challenges and vulnerabilities that must be identified and addressed in urban settings. With Motherland, researchers and practitioners are brought together to think about these issues and their solutions.
Neri & Hu
Founded in 2004 by partners Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, Neri&Hu Design and Research Office is an inter-disciplinary architectural design practice based in Shanghai, China. Neri&Hu works internationally providing architecture, interior, master planning, graphic, and product design services. Currently working on projects in many countries, Neri&Hu is composed of multi-cultural staff who speak over thirty different languages. Tato kniha je výstupem projektu Architektura a česká politika v 19. 21. století, na němž tým Katedry teorie a dějin umění UMPRUM pracuje od roku 2018. Autoři nechtěli mapovat politickou architekturu českých zemí v 19. století, nýbrž zkoumali různé podoby interakcí architektury a politiky. Zajímalo je, jak architektonické formy reprezentovaly ideologické a sociálně-psychologické obsahy nebo jak spoluvytvářely mocenské vztahy a politické pozice. Motto v názvu knihy, jehož autorem je architekt a mecenáš Josef Hlávka, poukazuje k ústřednímu tématu svazku úloze architektury při formování moderního českého národa. Kromě toho autoři ukazují, jak monumentální architektura z pojednávaného období vyjadřovala či formovala loajalitu občanů ke státu či dynastii, jak přispívala k rozvoji demokratických institucí a občanské společnosti, případně jakou roli hrála v sociálních procesech spojených s industrializací a modernizací. Gio Ponti
To study Gio Ponti's prolific body of work is to appreciate the clear, unifying vision behind a complex creative universe.
