Building for Hope
Marwa al Sabouni was a little-known architect, living in battle-ravaged Homs, unable to practice her profession as the buildings and the lives around her and across Syria were reduced to rubble. Rather than flee her country, like so many of her compatriots, she remained, committed to the belief that the multilayered and multifaceted society she grew up in was worth rebuilding. She turned her fierce intelligence to chronicling how her city and country were undone through decades of architectural mismanagement and mistakes.
The result was The Battle for Home. Published in 2016, the book and her story attracted the attention of international news media and received critical acclaim around the world. She became a TED fellow; some suggested she be nominated for architecture's highest honour, the Pritzker Prize.
Until the book was published, al Sabouni had rarely travelled outside of her native country, but The Battle for Home gained her invitations to speak to audiences, institutes and experts across the world. Her travels, combined with her deep understanding of the Middle Eastern heritage and values, provided al Sabouni with insights into a wide range of cities, which informed her views on how cities best work, how they might fail, and what can be done to enrich and harmonize the lives of all their inhabitants. This is a rich journey, drawing together several narratives: her personal observations of some of the world's most fascinating cities, from Detroit to Helsinki, from Bristol to Amsterdam; the lessons that Western societies might learn from Islamic culture; and philosophical reflections, drawing on a range of thinkers, on how our personal and communal spaces can provide the basic foundations for happiness. Když na sklonku roku 1349 dal Karel IV. norimberským měšťanům souhlas se zřízením velkého tržiště na místě dosavadního židovského ghetta, a nepřímo tak připustil následný pogrom, vymínil si, že na místě synagogy vznikne kaple zasvěcená Panně Marii. Tak se také stalo. Za deset let byla stavba hotová a v čele nového tržiště se skvělo její nádherné průčelí s bohatě zdobenou a třemi portály otevřenou předsíní. Sál naší Paní je dodnes jedním ze symbolů města Norimberku. Mnohé jej ale pojí i s českým prostředím. Vedle osoby fundátora, císaře a českého krále Karla IV., to jsou mnohé umělecké vazby a také badateli dosud opomíjený sbor mansionářů pražské katedrály, jimž byla svěřena duchovní správa norimberské kaple. Adolf Loos světoobčan
ADOLF LOOS SVĚTOOBČAN je doprovodnou publikací ke stejnojmenné výstavě, kterou u příležitosti 150. výročí narození světoznámého tvůrce moderní architektury Adolfa Loose (10. 12. 1870 - 23. 8. 1933) připravilo Muzeum města Prahy ve spolupráci s Národním technickým muzeem. Výstava se konala od 10. prosince 2020 do 3. října 2021.
Kniha ADOLF LOOS SVĚTOOBČAN představuje nejdůležitější body Loosova učení o architektuře a životním stylu, které byly a jsou signifikantní pro jeho celoživotní dílo. Na příkladech barevných fotografií Loosových interiérů, především z pražské Müllerovy vily a plzeňských realizací, jsou zde představeny pro Loose specifické principy: Vztah mezi exteriérem a interiérem, symetrie, organizování prostorů pomoci enfilády a Raumplanu. Zároveň jsme chtěli kolekcí fotografií připomenout průzkum díla Adolfa Loose v českých zemích, který zahájilo Muzeum hlavního města Prahy již v roce 2003. Díky průzkumu a aktivitám Studijního a dokumentačního centra Adolfa Loose se podařilo znovu dostat Loosovo dílo do širokého povědomí. To mj. následně vedlo ke zdařilé obnově několika plzeňských interiérů a v posledním roce i záchraně jedné z prvních Loosových staveb na Moravě vily Viktora Bauera v Hrušovanech u Brna.

A borsi Rákóczi-kastély
A borsi kastély, II. Rákóczi Ferenc fejedelem szülőhelye sok más kárpát-medencei főúri rezidenciához hasonlóan a 20. század végére leromlott, méltatlan állapotba került. A most befejezett felújítás során a kastélyban helyet kapott egy II. Rákóczi Ferencet és korát bemutató nagyszabású kiállítás, e mellett sor került az épület környezetének tájépítészeti rekonstrukciójára is. A borsi kastély helyreállításával egy olyan zarándokhely született, amely méltó módon állít emléket a magyar történelem kiemelkedő személyiségének, II. Rákóczi Ferencnek.
