Nové milénium je autorskou studií pohybu architektonického myšlení po skončení postmodernismu a 20. století a nástupu nových architektonických paradigmat v novém miléniu. Pokud je 20. století charakterizováno jako století moderny a završení hierarchie stylů, začátek nového tisíciletí, globalizace a hlavně útok na Dvojčata (2001) rozvrátil jistotu nedávného konce bipolárního světa z minulého století a nastartoval nové paralelně se větvící hrozby a konflikty, které dnes radikálně mění nejen naši existenci, ale také architekturu. The Magic Mirror of M.C. Escher - New Edition

How design can transcend the logics, structures, and subjectivities of capitalism: a framework, theoretical grounding, and practical principles.
The designed things, experiences, and symbols that we use to perceive, understand, and perform our everyday lives are much more than just props. They directly shape how we live. In Design after Capitalism, Matthew Wizinsky argues that the world of industrial capitalism that gave birth to modern design has been dramatically transformed. Design today needs to reorient itself toward deliberate transitions of everyday politics, social relations, and economies. Looking at design through the lens of political economy, Wizinsky calls for the field to transcend the logics, structures, and subjectivities of capitalism—to combine design entrepreneurship with social empowerment in order to facilitate new ways of producing those things, symbols, and experiences that make up everyday life.
After analyzing the parallel histories of capitalism and design, Wizinsky offers some historical examples of anticapitalist, noncapitalist, and postcapitalist models of design practice. These range from the British Arts and Crafts movement of the nineteenth century to contemporary practices of growing furniture or biotextiles and automated forms of production. Drawing on insights from sociology, philosophy, economics, political science, history, environmental and sustainability studies, and critical theory—fields not usually seen as central to design—he lays out core principles for postcapitalist design; offers strategies for applying these principles to the three layers of project, practice, and discipline; and provides a set of practical guidelines for designers to use as a starting point. Opera rakouského skladatele Josepha Weigla Die Schweizerfamilie (1809) se stala roku 1823 prvním operním představením v českém jazyce ve Stavovském divadle v Praze. Dvojjazyčná kniha, která vychází jako druhý svazek ediční řady Nota bene, se zabývá libretem Ignaze Franze Castelliho a jeho francouzskými inspiračními zdroji, německými a českými provedeními, interprety, recepcí v tisku a v korespondenci české vlastenecké společnosti a překladem Simeona Karla Macháčka Rodina švejcarská. Obsahuje edici německého a českého libreta.
Druhý svazek ediční řady Nota bene přináší pojednání o opeře Josepha Weigla Die Schweizerfamilie (1809), publikované v české a německé jazykové verzi. Soustředí se na libreto Ignaze Franze Castelliho z hlediska inspiračních zdrojů: od příběhu z Francie 18. století a jeho zpracování v pařížském vaudevillu autorů Sewrin a René de Chazet (1807) až k rakouské adaptaci na lyrickou operu.
Die Schweizerfamilie patřila k nejoblíbenějším operám své doby. Po Vídni byla provedena poprvé v Praze již roku 1809 a do roku 1848 tu dosáhla celkem 72 německých a českých představení. V dějinách českého divadla sehrála mimořádnou roli. Mírné pěvecké nároky sólových rolí přispěly k tomu, že právě tato opera byla vybrána roku 1823 k pokusu ukázat na profesionální scéně, že i český jazyk je vhodným nástrojem k opernímu zpěvu.
Kniha se zabývá německými a českými představeními, domácími i hostujícími interprety, recepcí v tisku v Praze, Vídni, Drážďanech a v Lipsku a ohlasy českého provedení v korespondenci české vlastenecké společnosti. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována překladu Simeona Karla Macháčka Rodina švejcarská.

Previously unseen early works and other unpublished material from the pioneering Bauhaus polymath
This publication considers Josef Albers' early development as an artist, beginning with the pre-Bauhaus years when he worked as an elementary school teacher in his native Bottrop in Western Germany, while sketching the landscape and architecture of his home town and studying courses in art by night. With a particular focus on works on paper, the book reveals not only the unappreciated naturalistic origins of his art, but also his ongoing interest in producing organic, surrealistic forms alongside the geometric abstraction for which he is best known. It presents dozens of prints, paintings and drawings from the first half of his career, as well as previously unseen photographs of the artist at work and on research trips to the ancient sites of Mexico where he found important sources of inspiration for his art and theories. With texts by two recognized Albers scholars, this volume offers a fresh and surprising view of a celebrated pioneer of modernism.
German-born artist Josef Albers (1888-1976) laid the foundations for some of the most important art education programs of the 20th century. In 1936, during his time working at Black Mountain College in North Carolina, he had his first solo exhibition in New York at J.B. Neumann's New Art Circle. In 1949, Albers left the college and began his famous Homage to the Square series. He taught at various institutions throughout America, including Yale University, New Haven. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, organized Albers' traveling exhibition in 1965 and a retrospective of his work was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, in 1971. He died in 1976.
Tradičné staviteľstvo a slohová architektúra na Slovensku
Po prvýkrát sa k čitateľovi dostáva v knižnej podobe spracovaná téma o vzájomných vzťahoch tradičného staviteľstva a slohovej architektúry na Slovensku v ich dejinnom vývoji. Autor v širokom rozpätí pojednáva o vplyvoch architektonickej tvorby jednotlivých slohových období od gotiky po secesiu, z ktorých prevzaté slohotvorné prvky sa v modifikovaných formách rôznou intenzitou podieľali na dotváraní tradičného staviteľstva slovenského vidieka v časovej rovine od konca 18. do prvej tretiny 20. storočia; dokladuje to aj bohatým obrazovým materiálom. Tieto prepojenia výraznou mierou prispeli k značnej variabilite a druhovej rozmanitosti tradičného staviteľstva a tým i vytvoreniu jedinečných hodnôt a osobitostí stavebnej kultúry na našom území.
Lévi-Strauss a hudba
Lévi-Strauss a hudba, Nattiezova studie z roku 2008, představuje jednak souhrnný pohled na problematiku hudby v Lévi-Straussove díle, ale zároveň se na tomto muzikologickém pozadí kriticky vyrovnává s lévi-straussovskou antropologií jako takovou. Nattiez ukazuje, že hudba má v Lévi-Straussove strukturalistickém projektu význam zcela klíčový, neboť právě ona mu poskytuje model pro strukturální analýzu mýtu, tak jak bude rozvíjen zvláště v jeho čtyřsvazkovém souboru Mythologica. Nattiez si ovšem ohledně tohoto hudebního modelu klade mnoho podstatných otázek: mezi ně patří zejména problém srovnávání hudby a jazyka, jisté nesnáze spojené s Lévi-Straussovou metodologií, ale i některé nesrovnalosti týkající se Lévi-Straussovy interpretace konkrétních hudebních děl (především Wagnera). Díky tomu se tato zároveň kritická i obdivná monografie může stát také pozoruhodným a netradičním uvedením do Lévi-Straussovy strukturální antropologie jako takové.
