JOZEF KRAKOVSKÝ - monografia akademického maliara s nezvyčajnou mierou talentu nielen v rokoch zrelosti, ale i v čase organizovaného zabúdania.
Jozef Krakovský nikdy nebol verný jednej téme, námetu. Jeho prístup k výtvarnej tvorbe je vždy charakteristický pre jeho určitú epochu, ktorá trvá niekedy aj veľmi krátky čas. Potom maliarove odrazy sveta v dielach prechádzajú turbolentne rôznymi výtvarnými štýlmi, ktoré paradoxne prinášajú akúsi rovnováhu. Veľmi silný „prízvuk“ obrazov tvorí farba, ktorá odzrkadľuje maliarov vnútorný svet, podobne ako u jeho veľkých vzorov Vincenta Willema
van Gogha a Jacksona Pollocka. Jozef Krakovský neustále hľadal, tvoril. Niekedy zašiel do slepej uličky, ale vždy našiel silu a vrátil sa späť. Jeho diela zachytávajú všehochuť výtvarného umenia 19. až 21. storočia nielen u nás doma, ale podnety nachádzal i vo francúzskych a holandských výtvarných prúdoch.
We Build Drawings
`Architects do not actually build buildings,' says Mikkel Frost, co-founder of Danish architecture firm CEBRA. `What we build is an idea. To visualize it, we build drawings.' The evolutionary process of how aphorisms develop into precise architectural concepts is illustrated through a collection of Frost's sketches and watercolours.
Over 200 drawings are organized into 20 sections, each relating to one of CEBRA's projects. An index containing c olour photographs and renders of their works further illuminates how the drawings are translated into reality. Mirages: the Art of Laurent Durieux
Laurent Durieux is a famous Belgian illustrator who is well known by pop culture fans and collectors for his cult movie poster reinterpretations. Every one of his American exhibitions was sold out on opening night and attended by thousands of enthusiastic fans. This book will be his first monograph and will cover his entire career, with particular focus on his most iconic alternative movie posters (including Jaws, The Birds, Vertigo, and The Master).
The book includes a 6-page section of rejected and unpublished poster art and a foreword by filmmaker and Durieux collector Francis Ford Coppola.
Alternatívna Slovenská grafika
Prvé vydanie umenovednej publikácie historičky umenia PhDr. Aleny Vrbanovej, PhD. o vývine alternatívnych foriem a umeleckých stratégií (modelov) v tvorbe umeleckej grafiky od polovice 20. storočia s presahmi do 21. storočia. Predstavuje nový pohľad na vývin a prínos slovenskej umeleckej grafiky z pozície netradičných, experimentálnych a autorských počinov 49 slovenských umelkýň a umelcov. Autorka sa problematike venuje dlhodobo. V roku 1997 autorsky pripravila prvú celoslovenskú výstavu a rovnomenný katalóg. Do unikátnej zbierky súčasnej grafiky Stredoslovenskej galérie v Banskej Bystrici získala početnú kolekciu tejto neklasickej grafiky. V roku 2011 realizovala výstavu Alternatívna slovenská grafika na pôde Galérie Cypriána Majerníka v Bratislave, pričom výskum rozšírila o historické kontexty média.
Monografia sa zoberá históriou, typológiou, analýzou a interpretáciou alternatívnych foriem umeleckej grafiky v slovenskom umení. Dáva ho do súvisu s nástupom informelu (štrukturálna grafika, aktívna grafika, monotypia a presahy grafiky a iných médií), cez umelecky mimoriadne podnetné obdobie 60. rokov, ktoré vníma ako kľúčové pre vznik nielen experimentálnych, ale najmä konceptuálnych základov grafiky a snahu o maximálne rozšírenie hraníc média. Obdobie normalizácie publikácia zachytáva tvorbou avantgardných a konceptuálne orientovaných tvorcov a osobitnú pozornosť venuje vzniku, etablovaniu sa a rozšíreniu počítačovej grafiky (od roku 1973). Popri týchto dnes už historických obdobiach sa autorka venuje vývinu neklasických a autorských polôh grafického média po roku 1990, ktoré reprezentujú prienik zamlčanej tradície a nových technológií (najmä digitálneho spracovania matrice, simulácie tradičných techník pomocou softvérov, ako aj presahy grafiky a iných médií). Umelecko-historický kontext a vývinové súvislosti alternatívnej grafiky dopĺňa ich analýza a interpretácia z pohľadu ich estetickej zámernosti a výrazovej osobitosti formy a jazyka

This volume explains in hitherto unknown depth the Bauhaus and its multi-faceted forms of expression, which extended far beyond the Constructivist language of the 1920s. Case studies from Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Santiago de Chile, Moscow, the USA and elsewhere show that the Bauhaus was not an exclusive undertaking of the modern age. Araki is known the world over for his controversial erotic portraits of Japanese women, often bound using the kinbaku (Japanese bondage) technique. A unique figure in contemporary photography, he has always found creative inspiration in his daily existence, without making any distinction between his personal life and public and professional practice. The Araki Effect offers a broad overview of his career: from the first series from 1963-65, Satchin and His Brother Mabo, to Subway of Love, a large collection of images taken in the Tokyo subway between 1963 and 1972, the year he also made Autumn in Tokyo, which recounts the autumn he spent wandering through the city in the twilight hours. These are followed by Sentimental Night in Kyoto, less known than the famous Sentimental Journey, both tributes to his wife, Yoko; Balcony of Love, Death Reality, Tokyo Diary from 2017, and one of his latest collections, Araki's Paradise from 2019. Born in Tokyo in 1940, Nobuyoshi Araki worked at an advertising agency in the 1960s, where he met his future wife, Yoko Araki, the subject of his now classic volume Sentimental Journey. Araki's oeuvre spans erotic portraits of women, still lifes, images of plants, scenes of everyday life and architectural photography. He has published around 400 books, shown in many international exhibitions and his work is part of important collections worldwide. Araki lives and works in Tokyo.

The Da Vinci Women
Leonardo da Vinci was a revolutionary thinker, artist and inventor who has been written about and celebrated for centuries. Lesser known, however, is his revolutionary and empowering portrayal of the modern female, centuries before the first women's liberation movements. Before da Vinci, portraits of women in Italy were still, impersonal and mostly shown in profile.
Leonardo pushed the boundaries of female depiction having several of his female subjects, including his Mona Lisa, gaze at the viewer, giving them an authority which was withheld from women at the time. Art historian and journalist Kia Vahland recounts Leonardo's entire life from April 15, 1452, as a child born out of wedlock in Vinci up through his death on May 2, 1519, in the French castle of von Cloux. Included throughout are 80 sketches and paintings showcasing Leonardo's approach to the female form (including anatomical sketches of birth) and other artwork as well as examples from other artists from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Vahland explains how artists like Raphael, Giorgione, Giovanni Bellini and the young Titian were influenced by da Vinci's women while Michelangelo, da Vinci's main rival, created masculine images of woman that counters Leonardo's depictions.
