Tato kniha je určená všem těm, jež zajímá myšlenkové podloží těchto pojmů a to, jakou roli hrály a hrají v akademických i neakademických reflexích umění a jeho dějin. Jakub Stejskal pracuje jako vedoucí výzkumného týmu na semináři dějin umění Masarykovy univerzity. Před tím působil na univerzitách v Basileji a Berlíně. V roce 2014 získal doktorát z estetiky na Univerzitě Karlově. Je autorem řady studií a jedné knihy na pomezí filozofické estetiky, dějin umění, archeologie a antropologie. Metakunsthistorie je jeho první knihou v českém jazyce.

This book is intended for those interested in the ideational grounding of these terms and the role they have been playing in both academic and non-academic reflections on art and art history. Jakub Stejskal works as head of a research team of the Department of Art History at Masaryk University. He previously worked at universities in Basil and Berlin. In 2014, he received a doctorate from aesthetics at Charles University. He is the author of a number of studies and one book which addresses the philosophy of aesthetics, art history, archeology and anthropology. Metakunsthistorie is his first book published in Czech.

1958 Johnny Cash plays the first of many concerts at San Quentin State Prison, California. It had become traditional for the prison to stage a New Year’s Day musician’s union extravaganza for the 4,000 inmates, and it just so happened that Cash was touring the west coast of the US when he and his band were asked at short notice to appear on a bill also featuring dancers and a 17-piece jazz ensemble. He accepted, although his bass guitarist Marshall Grant is forbidden from bringing in a toy pistol (a standard prop in their stage act).
