I když skladatel Bohuslav Martinů v Brně nikdy nežil ani pracovně nepůsobil, patřilo mezi místa, kde bylo jeho dílo – často vůbec poprvé – pravidelně uváděno. Publikace se zabývá především fenoménem Martinů scénických děl, která byla v Brně uvedena ve světové nebo československé premiéře – jak za života skladatele, tak po jeho smrti. V tomto smyslu se Brno jednoznačně stalo místem s nejčetnějším uvedením nových martinůovských inscenací v celosvětovém měřítku. Cílem práce je seznámit čtenáře s okolnostmi vzniku děl a okolnostmi jejich brněnských nastudování a také s reakcemi odborné veřejnosti v dobových recenzích.
