Co předchází samotné realizaci architektonického díla? Jakým způsobem architekti zpodobňovali své představy o zamýšlené stavbě v minulosti a jak to dělají dnes? Která média přitom využívali/jí a nakolik byla/jsou určující pro výslednou podobu? Tyto a mnohé další otázky si kladou autoři v monografii Od myšlenky k architektuře, jež vychází ze stejnojmenné konference a navazujícího workshopu konaných 15. a 16. června 2023. Hlavním tématem již čtvrtého svazku knižní série věnující se teorii architektury je tzv. mentální práce architektů, tedy proces, při němž je myšlená architektura převedena do skutečného, hmotného světa, a to za pomoci rozličných prostředků. Caspar David Friedrich: Art for a New Age
Published to mark the 250th anniversary of Caspar David Friedrich's birth, the most thorough Friedrich retrospective in many years.
Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) is renowned as the Romantic painter par excellence, his works icons of an age of major social upheaval. His landscape paintings and drawings broke with traditional patterns of representation, and paved new ways of both experiencing and reflecting on the ambivalent relationship between humankind and nature.
Accompanying the most comprehensive Friedrich retrospective in many years, this catalogue re-examines the artist's groundbreaking work in light of the urgent challenges in a time of climate crisis. It centres on more than sixty paintings, among them many major iconic works, and about 100 drawings. Selected works by Friedrich's colleagues, notably Carl Blechen, Carl Gustav Carus, Johan Christian Dahl, August Heinrich and Georg Friedrich Kersting, are also featured. The second part of the book focuses on the contemporary reception of his work. Harry Benson. The Beatles
In early 1964, photographer Harry Benson received a call from the photo editor of London’s Daily Express, who asked him to cover the Beatles’ trip to Paris. It was the beginning of a career-defining relationship, which would both make Benson’s name and produce some of the most intimate photographs ever taken of the Beatles.
In Paris, Benson captured the Fab Four in the midst of a pillow fight at the George V Hotel, a spontaneous moment which came to epitomize the spirit of the band—Benson himself has called it the best shot of his career. Later that year, he followed the group on the road for their debut U.S. tour, documenting their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, their surprising encounter with Cassius Clay, and the hysteria of New York Beatlemania. Benson also photographed George Harrison’s honeymoon in Barbados, documented the Beatles on the set of their debut movie A Hard Day’s Night, and was present on the now infamous 1966 tour when John Lennon said that the Beatles were “more popular than Jesus.”
