Apóha - nominalismus a poznání v buddhistické filosofii
Apóha (dosl. „vyloučení“) je buddhistická sémantická teorie, pomocí které se buddhističtí nominalističtí filosofové pokoušeli vyřešit otázku statusu universálií. Zatímco indičtí metafyzičtí realisté tvrdili, že universálie (s?m?nya) skutečně existují a jsou současně přítomny v mnoha různých věcech, podle buddhistů byly skutečné pouze jednotliviny (lak?a?a), universálie naopak chápali jako pouhé mentální koncepty, které nemají reálnou existenci. Indický buddhistický filosof Dignága (asi 480–540 po Kr.), jeho následovník Dharmakírti (asi 600–670 po Kr.) a další se domnívali, že například obecný termín „kráva“ označuje vše, co není ne-krávou. To znamená, že definovali krávu jako jednotlivinu, aniž by přijali pozici realistů, že termín „kráva“ je založen na obecném „kravství“, které je inherentně a věčně přítomné ve všech jednotlivých kravách.
Diskuse buddhistických nominalistů s jejich realistickými oponenty, který v Indii trvaly téměř šest set let, se někdy až pozoruhodně podobají debatám mezi středověkými realisty a nominalisty o problému universálií.
Nauka o apóze, v níž se silně prolíná sémantika, epistemologie i filosofie jazyka, patří mezi nejdůležitější a nejpropracovanější témata buddhistické filosofie vůbec.
Obrazy navzdory všemu
V srpnu 1944 se členům osvětimského Sonderkommanda podařilo tajně vyfotografovat proces vyhlazování, v jehož samém jádru byli uvězněni. Zanechali po sobě čtyři fotografie. Georges Didi-Huberman se ve své knize pokouší jednak vylíčit peripetie, kterými museli tajní fotografové projít, jednak vytvořit fenomenologii pořízených snímků a pochopit jejich nutnost, jež platí dnes stejně jako tehdy. Vychází přitom ze zkoumání podmínek, za nichž lze v oboru historie využívat vizuální prameny. Své úvahy pak završuje filozofickou kritikou myšlenky nepředstavitelnosti, s níž je šoa často spojováno. Pokouší se tedy vymezit, nakolik je zkušenost táborů navzdory všemu představitelná, a lépe tak pochopit hodnotu obrazů v dějinách.
Být na způsob těla
Kniha naplňuje badatelské desideratum týkající se Heideggerovy údajně nedostatečné tematizace problematiky těla a tělesnosti, jež mu bývala vyčítána hned od vydání spisu Bytí a čas. Heidegger se tělem nezabýval, protože jeho zájem náležel otázce bytí, nikoli jakémukoli privilegovanému jsoucnu. Tělo pro něj není filozoficky hodným „předmětem“ zkoumání už jen proto, že ho lze pouze popisovat, nikoli vysvětlovat, což znemožňuje seriózní snahu o vypracování něčeho jako „nauka“ o těle. Požadovat tudíž od Heideggera cosi jako „fenomenologii těla“ je nepochopení jeho myslitelského záměru. Za základ předloženého pokusu o rekonstrukci domnělého Heideggerova pojetí těla a tělesnosti slouží jednak dvě nietzschovské přednášky ze třicátých let 20. století, jednak dva z tzv. Zollikonských seminářů z roku 1965, které Heidegger vedl společně se švýcarským psychologem Medardem Bossem. Tělesnost se v nich ukazuje jako způsob lidského bytí ve sdíleném světě mající význam „projevovat gesta tvářnosti“. Z hlediska existenciální analytiky z knihy Bytí a čas by tedy tělo spadlo pod rubriku existenciálu „rozpoložení“.
