Publikácia prináša reprezentatívny výber judikatúry k ťažiskovým otázkam dedičského práva. Obsahuje vyše 200 redakčne upravených rozhodnutí slovenských, ale aj českých súdov, vrátane právnych viet. Judikáty sú rozčlenené do jednotlivých tematických kapitol a ponúkajú odpovede napríklad na otázky ohľadom:
• prechodu práv a povinností z poručiteľa na dedičov: ako smrť dlžníka či veriteľa ovplyvňuje existujúce právne vzťahy a tiež aké sú následky nedostatku relevantného majetku poručiteľa;

• Využitie výzvy v daňovom procese
Podľa § 15 ods. 1 daňového poriadku je daňové priznanie povinný podať jednak subjekt, ktorému to vyplýva z osobitnej právnej úpravy a taktiež každý subjekt, ktorý bol na podanie daňového konania vyzvaný správcom dane. Pritom daňový poriadok výslovne neustanovuje, akú formu má mať predmetná výzva správcu dane na podanie daňového priznania a taktiež ani jej obligatórne obsahové súčasti.
V § 15 ods. 2 daňový poriadok počíta s prípadom, ak povinný daňový subjekt nepodá daňové priznanie riadne a včas, hoci tak mal urobiť. V takomto prípade je správca dane povinný daňový subjekt vyzvať na podanie daňového priznania. Lehota, v ktorej je potrebné podať daňové priznanie je ustanovená osobitnou právnou úpravou...

Julius Zeyer byl ve své době vnímán jako romantik, snílek, samotář. Ve společenských stycích byl plachý a podobně nepodbízivá byla i jeho díla, jež od počátku vzbuzovala pozornost náročnějších čtenářů a čtenářek. Čtení o Juliu Zeyerovi mapuje formování obrazu Zeyerova díla v rozpravě vedené v časovém úseku od poloviny sedmdesátých let 19. století do čtyřicátých let 20. století, se zaměřením na literární kritiku a kulturní publicistiku. První tři oddíly výboru ukazují, jak se o Zeyerově díle soudilo za jeho života, další tři jsou věnovány recepci posmrtné. K rozborům a úvahám přitahovala Zeyerova díla od počátku nejvýznamnější spisovatele a žurnalisty (J. Neruda, S. Čech, J. Vrchlický, J. V. Sládek, H. G. Schauer aj.). V závěru 19. století vyvstala potřeba souhrnné charakteristiky, bilancování Zeyerova díla jako celku (F. X. Šalda, F. V. Krejčí) a určení jeho významu v kontextu rozvíjejícího se modernismu (J. Zahradníček). Určující pro posmrtnou recepci byl také svazek shrnující v rámci sebraných spisů Zeyerovy lyrické básně. Autor nahlížený za svého života jako prozaik a dramatik se napříč eseji M. Martena, A. Nováka a F. X. Šaldy nově vyjevuje jako jeden z vrcholů české lyriky, situovaný mezi Máchou a Březinou. Making Money in the Early Middle Ages
An examination of coined money and its significance to rulers, aristocrats and peasants in early medieval EuropeBetween the end of the Roman Empire in the fifth century and the economic transformations of the twelfth, coined money in western Europe was scarce and high in value, difficult for the majority of the population to make use of. And yet, as Rory Naismith shows in this illuminating study, coined money was made and used throughout early medieval Europe. It was, he argues, a powerful tool for articulating people’s place in economic and social structures and an important gauge for levels of economic complexity. Working from the premise that using coined money carried special significance when there was less of it around, Naismith uses detailed case studies from the Mediterranean and northern Europe to propose a new reading of early medieval money as a point of contact between economic, social, and institutional history. Naismith examines structural issues, including the mining and circulation of metal and the use of bullion and other commodities as money, and then offers a chronological account of monetary development, discussing the post-Roman period of gold coinage, the rise of the silver penny in the seventh century and the reconfiguration of elite power in relation to coinage in the tenth and eleventh centuries. In the process, he counters the conventional view of early medieval currency as the domain only of elite gift-givers and intrepid long-distance traders. A Political Ecology of Kenya’s Mau Forest
A timely and important examination of the forest's environmental crises, investigating their biophysical, political, economic, and socio-cultural aspects, that reveals why previous conservation efforts failed. The eastern part of the Mau Forest, the most important closed-canopy forest in East Africa, has come under severe threat since the 1990s. In this political ecology Lisa Fuchs exploring the failure of the government-led forest restoration and rehabilitation initiative to 'Save the Mau', launched in 2009, the author examines two of the most contentious issues in Kenya since colonial times: land and the environment. She sheds light on the structural factors and the role of individuals in the forest's destruction and of non-protection and traces the colonial legacy of post-independent environmental conservation policies and practices. In doing so, Fuchs demonstrates that the Mau crisis is more than an environmental crisis: it is also a political, an economic, and a socio-cultural crisis. Though a detailed empirical analysis, the author shows that the 'Mau crisis' led to the near collapse of landscapes and livelihoods in the Mau Forest ecosystem. She traces the implementation of insufficient conservation programmes, which resulted from historical path-dependency and the adoption of global environmental governance blueprints, forest allocation and benefits, and exposes a forest management system that prioritises commercial forest production over biodiversity conservation. Access and entitlements to the highly fertile forest land, and the amalgamation of forest rehabilitation with the reclamation of grabbed public forest are emphasised as a further core contributor to the crisis. The socio-cultural dynamics within and among various forest-dwelling communities, including the indigenous hunting and gathering Ogiek and 'in-migrant' groups, are also analysed. The book highlights that local types of environmentalism are caught between the 'invention of traditions' and 'perverse modernisation' and shows the contradictory effects of the celebrated, highly anticipated but poorly executed 'Save the Mau' initiative, and how the presence of political will to maintain the crisis conditioned its perseverance. Finally, the book proposes realistic alternatives to sustainable forest management in politicised environments, whose relevance and applicability are considerable in this age of anthropogenic 'environmental' crises and conflicts.
