Čas psychopatů
Psychopatů – tedy správně lidí trpících disociální poruchou osobnosti – je ve společnosti odjakživa vždy stabilní procento. Ať se pohybujeme kdekoli, je prakticky nemožné se těmto antisociálním parazitům zcela vyhnout – je možné, že mezi ně patří náš soused, nadřízený, volený politik nebo v horším případě rodinný příslušník.

Raně novověká mosaická fyzika
Představa vzniku moderní vědy coby jasně daného, přehledného, v podstatě lineárního procesu iniciovaného Koperníkem a završeného Newtonem je dnes spíše zkratkou, s níž se setkáváme přinejlepším v učebnicích či popularizačních textech. Přesně zmapovat podhoubí, z nějž novověká věda vyrašila, však stále zůstává badatelskou výzvou. Ačkoliv známe hlavní směry vývoje – ty, jež převážily a staly se úspěšnými –, v jejich stínu dosud leží některé ve své době vlivné a hojně diskutované koncepce, jež byly nakonec sice opuštěny a upadly v zapomnění, ale jež tím, že tvořily kritickou alternativu, dopomohly zformovat obraz vědy do té podoby, v jaké ji chápeme dnes. Jednou z nich je právě mosaická fyzika. Studium tohoto jedinečného raně novověkého fenoménu navíc pomáhá ukázat, že složitý proces, jakým zrod moderní vědy byl, nelze ani zdaleka vystihnout zjednodušujícími schématy, například příběhem boje světského „pokroku“ s náboženským „tmářstvím“ raženým pozitivistickou historiografií.

Co tvoří středověká cestopisná vyprávění? Jaké stylizace, masky a motivy používají vypravěči cestopisů? Kdo a jak četl, opisoval a upravoval rukopisně dochované cestopisné příběhy? Jaké místo v evropském kontextu mají tato vyprávění vytvořená v českých zemích?
Kniha popisuje literární nástroje a motivy formující cestopisné příběhy, věnuje se rukopisným tradicím a sleduje cesty, jimiž se rukopisy ubíraly do písařských dílen a knihoven. Namísto čtení cestopisů jako zdroje informací o dobové cestovatelské praxi se soustředí na významy spojené s díly samotnými, na jejich literární struktury a na materiální podoby, v nichž se tyto texty dochovaly.
Kniha se odklání od dřívějšího důrazu na cestopisná vyprávění, která vznikla v prostoru středověkých českých zemí, a ukazuje lokální tvorbu jako součást celoevropsky rozšířené latinské a překladové literatury.
Estetik Markalous a literát John
Kolektivní monografie je sestavena z upravených a doplněných příspěvků z konference Estetik Markalous a literát John uspořádané olomouckou katedrou bohemistiky Filozofické fakulty UP a Ústavem pro českou literaturu AV ČR ve dnech 26.–27. dubna 2022 u příležitosti 140. výročí narození Bohumila Markalouse – Jaromíra Johna (1882–1952) a 70. výročí jeho úmrtí. První část monografie bilancuje Markalousovu činnost na poli estetiky, vzdělávání a publicistiky (její součástí je i edice korespondence a edice vzpomínek), druhá část přináší interpretace a aktuální zhodnocení Johnova literárního díla.

Poslední rok druhé světové války probíhal na území Říšské župy Sudety a Protektorátu Čechy a Morava 1944-1945 v hektickém tempu. Kvůli přemístění stovek zbrojních závodů a vysoké poptávce po pracovní síle vzrostl počet válečných zajatců v zajateckých táborech, především v sudetské župě vznikla řada pobočných koncentračních závodů, a zároveň byla tato území čím dál důležitějším útočištěm pro vybombardované říšské Němce, resp. pro děti z letecky ohrožených oblastí. Od léta 1944 se však cílem náletů spojeneckých bombardérů staly i průmyslové a zbrojní závody na našem území a spolu s tím rostl počet obětí z řad civilního obyvatelstva. Na podzim 1944 dorazily do sudetské župy první kolony uprchlíků z Východu, předvoj mohutné uprchlické vlny, která na konci ledna 1945 zaplavila župu, a v protektorátu byla spojena s eufemistickým označením „národní hosté“. S rychlým posunem frontové linie se obyvatelé stali svědky pochodů smrti a s koncem zimy se na východě župy začala připravovat opatření k ústupu ve stylu spálené země. Bombardovací útoky Spojenců se soustředily zejména na dopravní uzly a spolu s tím zesílila aktivita hloubkových stíhačů, kteří se na jaře 1945 stali neodmyslitelnou součástí válečných dnů. Snaha nacistů udržet protektorát v klidu padla počátkem května, když vypuklo povstání v Přerově; tehdy již americké jednotky osvobodily část západních Čech a očekávaly svolení k dalšímu postupu. Konec války v sudetské župě provázely nálety sovětského letectva, které své akce ukončilo až 9. května 1945. V ten den vstoupily do Prahy, kde od 5. května probíhalo povstání zachráněné Vlasovci, první jednotky Rudé armády.
Texty této publikace jsou výstupem z kolokvia, které se konalo 21.–22. října 2021 v prostorách Muzea města v Ústí nad Labem. Kolokvium organizovaly Ústav slovansko-germánských studií a Katedra historie FF UJEP Ústí nad Labem ve spolupráci s Archivem a Muzeem města Ústí nad Labem, Společností pro dějiny Němců v Čechách a Collegiem Bohemicem. Mnohé z událostí pojících se s posledními dvanácti měsíci druhé světové války na našem území samozřejmě byly před kolokviem již probádané, ukázalo se však, že lze nalézt další, méně či dosud zcela nezpracovaná témata…
