Rudo Prekop několik let fotografuje studiové portréty osobností, které se v naší společnosti významnou měrou zasloužily o kvalitativní posun kulturní, společenský, mentální, mravní a obecně lidský. Spolu s knihou se připravuje také putovní výstava velkoformátových fotografií. Generační konfrontace v linii jak „nahoru“ – rodiče portrétovaných, tak i v linii směrem „dolů“- jejich dcery, synové, event. partneři. Ústřední postavou je vždy osobnost ze světa neoficiální kulturní a společenské sféry, resp. undergroundu. Rodová mozaika genofondu. Typologie lidsky výjimečných jedinců. Klíčem k výběru aktérů je můj subjektivní pocit úcty vůči portrétovaným. Jejich „zvěčnění“ je mým osobním holdem těmto lidem. Tímto způsobem chci vytvořit pestré portfolio osobností našich dnů a naší doby, kteří utvářeli a utváří podobu na společenských podmínkách nezávislé scény.
Karel Kotas
Architekt Karel Kotas přichází do Moravské Ostravy na jaře roku 1925 do funkce stavebního dozoru při výstavbě Nové radnice. Kromě toho, že ovlivnil podobu této dominanty, záhy se začal podílet i na dalších projektech, souvisejících s proměnou ostravského průmyslového souměstí v industriální velkoměsto. Podle jeho návrhů vyrostla v centru Moravskoostravská spořitelna, nynější radniční budova centrální části města, dále sídlo pojišťovny Riunione Adriatica di Sicurta na nároží Zámecké a Puchmajerovy ulice, sídlo tenisového klubu, obchodní dům Brouk a Babka na Smetanově náměstí, palác Občanské záložny v Reální ulici, obytné domy Dělnické záložny ve Veleslavínově ulici nebo palác Melantrich na nároží Umělecké a Nádražní ulice. Projektoval i oční pavilon městské nemocnice nebo modlitebnu metodistické církve. Koncem 30. let se k tomu přiřadil palác Generálního ředitelství Severní dráhy Ferdinandovy s pozoruhodnou uměleckou výzdobou na Prokešově náměstí a sousední bytový dům. Ve svých projektech Kotas spojoval cit pro účelnost s důrazem věnovaným materiálové skladbě, barevnosti i vytříbené hmotové a prostorové kompozici. Využíval formy nového klasicismu a purismu, obohacené o funkcionalistické principy s ohledem na dané prostředí. Pozornost věnoval moderní italské architektuře, sledoval tvorbu Le Corbusiera a dalších představitelů tehdejšího uměleckého a architektonického života. Spolupracoval s umělci, věnoval se spolkové činnosti. Kromě Moravské Ostravy se podílel na utváření moderního Brna, Prahy nebo lázní Teplic nad Bečvou. Letos vydaná monografie Kotasova celoživotního díla pojednává o všech těchto etapách jeho tvorby. Úvodní přednáška jednoho z editorů svazku se zaměří především na Kotasovy ostravské plány a realizace v kontextu architektonického vývoje 20. a 30. let minulého století.

Výstava jako médium. České umění 1957–1999
Jak se výstavy výtvarného umění promítají do jeho psaných dějin? A jak by vypadaly dějiny českého umění druhé poloviny 20. století, pokud bychom se na ně dívali právě z tohoto pohledu?
Zatímco tradičně bývají dějiny umění koncipovány jako dějiny stylů a zaměřují se na jednotlivé osobnosti a díla, v publikaci Výstava jako médium jsou pojímány z pohledu tzv. exhibition histories, které se na Západě na přelomu milénia staly novou uměnovědnou disciplínou. České umění druhé poloviny 20. století je tak představováno na pozadí přelomových výstav, které v letech 1957–1999 spoluformovaly jeho vývoj.
Publikace na více než 1000 stranách rekonstruuje 60 pečlivě vybraných výstav, a to jak skrze texty, tak obrazovou dokumentaci. Výstava je v knize chápána jako autonomní formát kulturní produkce, ale zároveň i jako nástroj k prosazení určitých podob umění, jeho funkcí a veřejné legitimizace. Archiv rozdělený do pěti období uvádějí tři samostatné studie, které sledují metodologii aktuálního výstavního diskurzu, dějiny výstav a proměňující se institucionální podmínky vystavování daného období i dosud nezpracované téma autorů a organizátorů výstav, později označovaných jako kurátoři/kurátorky.
Kniha přináší nové pohledy na dosavadní interpretace vývoje českého výtvarného umění po roce 1957. Přestože se zabývá historií, klade si otázky, které bezprostředně vycházejí z podoby současného umění a jeho aktuálních problémů.

The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta
Frank Frazetta has reigned as the undisputed king of fantasy art for 50 years, his fame only growing in the 12 years since his death. With his paintings now breaking auction records (Egyptian Queen sold for $ 5.4 million in 2019) he's long overdue for this ultimate monograph.
Born to a Sicilian immigrant family in Brooklyn, 1928, Frazetta was a minor league athlete, petty criminal and serial seducer with movie star looks and phenomenal talent. He claimed to only make art when there was nothing better to do - he preferred playing baseball - yet began his professional career in comics at age 16. Strip work led him to the infamous EC Comics, then to oils for Tarzan and Conan pulp covers. Both characters were interpreted by many before him, but as he explained in the 1970s, "I'm very physical minded. In Brooklyn, I knew Conan, I knew guys just like him," and he used this first-hand knowledge of muscle and macho to redefine fantasy heroes as more massive, more menacing, more testosterone-fueled than anything seen before. As counterbalance he created a new breed of women, nude as censorship allowed, with pixie faces and multiparous bodies: thick thighed, heavy buttocked, breasts cantilevered out to there, yet still, with their soft bellies and hints of cellulite, believably real. Add in the action, the creatures, the twilit worlds of haunting shadow and Frazetta's art is addictive as potato chips.
This monograph is the most complete ever produced on the artist, done in collaboration with the Frazetta family. It won the 2023 Eisner Award for Best Archival Collection.

They range from the stellar stadiums of the Premier League to windswept islands in the Scottish Hebrides or the far-flung Pacific, including stadia that resemble flying saucers, a crocodile and an armadillo!
Remarkable Football Grounds features a range of the oldest, biggest, highest, quirkiest and furthest flung stadia and the stories behind their existence. Italian Serie B team Venezia can be reached by canal, with moorings nearby; Bamburgh Castle football ground lies in the shadow of a Game of Thrones-scale fortress, while Estadio Silvestre is a full-size pitch on the roof of a building in Tenerife.
Some of the oldest, storied stadiums are here, including Anfield for Liverpool, Fulham, which has a tunnel under the pitch and the two Dundee football clubs, that have sizeable grounds, Tannadice and Dens Park, just 183 metres (200 yards) apart.
At the quirkier end of the scale, the Aveiro stadium in Portugal looks like a giant children's playset, while in Gangwon, South Korea, the football pitch doubles as a ski jump landing area.
Many of the stadiums come with spectacular views. The Faroe Islands have produced some strong football teams in the past and many of their grounds are set in picture perfect landscapes. The same can be said of Norway’s Lofoten Islands where flat land is at a premium and the pitch sides are used for drying fish. In Slovakia, the Janosovka football pitch has a narrow gauge railway that runs between the pitch and the grandstand.
Others are located in some of the most dangerous parts of the world. Nobody loves the ‘away’ fixture at Coroico which entails tackling the ‘Death Road’.
