LA Graffiti Black Book
Many graffiti artists carry sketchbooks, called black books, and they ask crew members and others whose work they admire to inscribe their books with lettering or drawings. A few years ago, the Getty Research Institute invited artists, including Angst, Axis, Big Sleeps, Chaz, Cre8, Defer, EyeOne, Fishe, Heaven, Hyde, Look, ManOne, and Prime, to consider the idea of a citywide graffiti black book. During visits to the Getty Center, the artists viewed rare books related to calligraphy and letterforms, including works by Albrecht Durer and Leonardo da Vinci. The artists instantly recognized the connections to their own practices and were particularly drawn to a liber amicorum (book of friends), a form of autograph book popular in the seventeenth century. Passed from hand to hand, it was filled with signatures, poetry, and coats of arms, like a black book from another era.
Inspired by this meeting of minds across centuries, these artists became both creators and curators, crafting their own pages and inviting others to contribute. Eventually 150 Los Angeles artists decorated 143 individual pages. These were bound together into an exquisite artists' book that became known as the Getty Graffiti Black Book. This publication reproduces each page from the original artists' book and recounts the story of an unprecedented collaboration across the diverse artistic landscape of Los Angeles.

Jan Jedlička je malířem, kreslířem, grafikem, fotografem a filmařem, ale také chodcem, pozorovatelem a médiem. Jeho obrazy jsou především záznamem toho, co prožívá při chůzi krajinou a v závislosti na jejích proměnách. Kombinováním nejrůznějších technik a médií vytváří vícevrstevnaté obrazy míst, sledovaných obvykle v dlouhých časových horizontech.

As an undergraduate studio art major at the University of Georgia, Michael Stipe (born 1960) studied photography and painting before leaving school upon the formation of R.E.M., the band for which he served as frontman and singer/songwriter until its dissolution in 2011. The sensibility that he began to develop during his time as an art student transferred to the spectrum of his work for R.E.M., from art directing all graphic, video and stage design, to writing, composing and performance, and his iconoclastic personal style. Stipe's visibility as a media figure in the popular culture of the 1980s and '90s left an indelible mark on the aesthetic trends of the time, many of which have trickled down to contemporary culture.

Je příznačné, že si Milan Pitlach za průvodce svého fotografického cyklu podmanivě atmosférických krajin zvolil Zarathustru. Nejedná se však o ilustrace či snad interpretace jeho promluv z přelomového díla Friedricha Nietzscheho, které fotografie v knize doprovázejí, ale což je mnohem cennější o jejich vzájemný dialog. Pitlach ve svých fotografických záznamech krajin nepoužívá laciné efekty ve snaze upoutat či ohromit diváka přímočarými a líbivými obrázky, jde až na samu hranici niternosti a intimního prožívání, kdy nechává svůj vnitřní svět, své úvahy, meditace a vize projevit v podobě skutečných vyfotografovaných krajin. Motivy, které zařadil do své knihy, ať už jsou to záběry na nedozírné rozlohy moře a pouště nebo bez ustání proměnlivé nebe, snímky zachycující paměť kamenů a nezkrotnou sílu živlů či připomínky extází v tanci a okamžicích lásky, vypovídají o vznešené síle přírody a ohromující energii života. A právě také v tom spočívá ona neobvyklá blízkost a korespondence s Nietzscheho filozofickou tvorbou. Pitlach se spolu s Nietzschem ptá po podstatě a smyslu lidské existence, proto jsou jeho fotografie tak naléhavé, tak hluboce lidské.

Texty PhDr. Ludvíka Hlaváčka, ředitele Nadace pro současné umění Praha a pedagoga na Katedře dějin a teorie umění ústecké Fakulty umění a designu, které vznikaly původně jako záznamy přednášek z cyklu Socializace (v) umění z let 20072018, určených studentům magisterského studijního oboru Kurátorská studia FUD UJEP.
Po úvodních kapitolách věnovaných pojmům socializace, uměleckého díla a dějinnosti přistupuje autor ke svého druhu dějinám umění , ovšem pojednávaným z hlediska socializace a dějinnosti, roli průvodce má i Zuidervaartův model spirituality jako žitého obsahu, nikoli jako ideových tezí. [] Po stručném výkladu některých základních témat řeckého (zvl. typu kúros) a křesťanského umění vykládá renesanci jako přechod do lineární perspektivy , blízké heideggerovské vrženosti do světa, jehož jsme součásti, což nás pak bude provázet i v umění 20. století. [] Následuje další hraniční oblast, totiž tradičně velice hojně pojednávané baroko. Ludvík Hlaváček však i zde sleduje specifické, opomíjené a mnohdy paradoxní problémy socializace. Poslední přibližně třetina knihy pojednává témata víceméně aktuální, kde je autor zcela suverénně doma a může vybírat z nepřeberného množství příkladů. Kapitoly: Informel, Akční umění a Postmoderna. [] Za důležitý přínos považuji závěr knihy (Závěr: Sociální role umění jako probuzení bytostné nejistoty?). Opatrně skeptickým přístupem mapuje prostor nejistoty i jeho zneužívání k prezentaci falešných jistot. Hledání sociální role umění provází ovšem právě nejistota. Přesto, ba spíše proto, není hledání místa a sociální role umění v rámci sociálního diskurzu marné. Dokonce: takové hledání dynamiku sociálního diskurzu udržuje při životě.
