Lynchian
'What is it about David Lynch's cinematic bag of tricks - his shots of shadows and flickering electricity, his sinister soundscapes and his heartfelt scores, his dreamlike irrational stories - that affects us so deeply? The loss of David Lynch in January 2025 produced an extraordinary outpouring of love and grief that revealed how deeply he mattered. But the strength and size of this reaction came as a surprise to many. In life, Lynch was a wilfully obtuse cult filmmaker who had been unable to get a film financed for the last two decades of his life. In death, both the man himself and his work are unquestionably in the pantheon of all-time greats.

Knižní rozhovor s významným českým divadelním a rozhlasovým dramaturgem, dramatikem a pedagogem Janem Vedralem (* 1955) nabízí unikátní možnost sledovat na osudu jednoho tvůrce vývoj české divadelní a rozhlasové tvorby posledního půlstoletí.

Důležitou součástí knihy je pak také Vedralovo angažmá pedagogické, i tuto profesi přitom sledujeme ve vývojových fázích, s ohledem na komplementárnost všech tvůrčích oblastí, v nichž se autor po celý život pohyboval. Rozhovor s profesorem Vedralem vedl a knihu připravil rozhlasový a divadelní historik Tomáš Bojda.

Each of the thirty plants is accompanied by a commentary by Eduardo Barba and a botanical illustration by Juan Luis Castillo, as well as a complete detailed reproduction of the work in the Museum.
In the words of Eduardo Barba: ‘Many works of art are full of plants. In others, they are a little more hidden. In all cases, botany is an indispensable part of the story that the artist wants to tell: there are flowers that allude to the dynasty of the person portrayed, leaves that sum up a feeling, trees that transmit to the scene qualities that are specific to them. The species chosen could be present in the artist's surroundings, even at the foot of his studio. On other occasions, however, and as a result of expeditions to different parts of the world, exotic plants from distant countries were incorporated, enriching the artistic flora, especially from the 16th century onwards. In any case, the works of art bear witness to the fascinating ability of artists to observe the natural environment, who portrayed plants with delicacy, as if they were just another character.
William Eggleston: The Last Dyes

Eggleston’s vivid photographs transform the ordinary into distinctive, poetic images that eschew fixed meaning. He pioneered the use of dye-transfer printing for art photography in the 1970s. The technically advanced process?first developed by Kodak in the 1940s?allowed him to achieve the richness of tonal depth and color saturation that he had been searching for. In the early 1990s, Kodak stopped producing the dyes, paper, and film used in the process. With the necessary materials now discontinued, and the bulk of what remained being used for the major group of work presented at David Zwirner in Los Angeles, The Last Dyes marks the final presentation of new works completed in this medium.
