Us and Them: The Authorised Story of Hipgnosis
Between the late '60s and early '80s, design house Hipgnosis created some of the most iconic and ubiquitous album artwork of all time. Their original lifespan coincided with the golden age of the 12-inch LP, beginning just as the Beatles' Sgt Pepper made the record sleeve the ultimate blank canvas and ending just as new technology looked set to usurp vinyl.
Having originally been approached to design an album cover for their friends Pink Floyd, students Aubrey 'Po' Powell and Storm Thorgerson would go on to define the visual identity of rock and roll for the next fifteen years, swiftly gaining international prominence for their famed The Dark Side of the Moon artwork. This paved the way for other major musicians to set foot in the surreal photo-design world of Storm and Po, resulting in seminal Hipgnosis creations for the likes of Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, Genesis, Black Sabbath, ELO and Yes.

Pamatují Napoleona (II)
V dobách konzulátu a prvního císařství ve Francii se vyjímala na nebi umělecké imaginace Napoleonova hvězda. Obraz nového suveréna byl synonymem světla, štěstěny a úspěchu. Jeho vojenské porážky a ukončení vleklých válek vytvořily v letech 1814–1815 podmínky pro vznik souhvězdí „vítězů nad Napoleonem“, které poutalo obrazotvornost umělců i zámožných vrstev. Jedním z těch, kdo si chtěl pamatovat Napoleona (1769–1821), byl rakouský ministr zahraničí Klemens Wenzel Lothar von Metternich-Winneburg (1773–1859). Během svého života shromáždil cenné umělecké sbírky a memorabilie s vazbami na proslulé události a osobnosti. Vedle samotného francouzského císaře byl mezi nimi i francouzský ministr zahraničí Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Périgord (1754–1838) či sekretář Vídeňského kongresu Friedrich von Gentz (1764–1832). Artefakty spravované Národním památkovým ústavem vypovídají nejen o reáliích a vkusu své doby, ale spolu s osobnostmi, které připomínají, jsou autentickými svědky, kteří promlouvají v historické paměti jako ti, kteří pamatují Napoleona.
Druhý díl knihy Pamatují Napoleona navazuje na první svazek a je volným pokračováním knih Zrcadlo moci a Třináctá komnata Napoleonova, analyzujících formování obrazu Napoleona Bonaparta v umění a odraz napoleonské epochy ve fondech hradů a zámků České republiky. Kniha se vedle Napoleonovy (re)prezentace zaměřuje rovněž na další významné osobnosti Napoleonovy doby, které přitahovaly pozornost umělců v různých evropských zemích a zůstaly spjaty také s českým prostředím. Výzkum artefaktů v českých hradozámeckých fondech byl realizován komparativní metodou v kontextu kulturního dědictví uchovávaného v příslušných zahraničních paměťových institucích či ve vybraných privátních sbírkách. Recenzovaná monografie je výsledkem výzkumného úkolu podpořeného Ministerstvem kultury ČR.

Bohuslav Martinů a Brno
I když skladatel Bohuslav Martinů v Brně nikdy nežil ani pracovně nepůsobil, patřilo mezi místa, kde bylo jeho dílo – často vůbec poprvé – pravidelně uváděno. Publikace se zabývá především fenoménem Martinů scénických děl, která byla v Brně uvedena ve světové nebo československé premiéře – jak za života skladatele, tak po jeho smrti. V tomto smyslu se Brno jednoznačně stalo místem s nejčetnějším uvedením nových martinůovských inscenací v celosvětovém měřítku. Cílem práce je seznámit čtenáře s okolnostmi vzniku děl a okolnostmi jejich brněnských nastudování a také s reakcemi odborné veřejnosti v dobových recenzích. Podrobně jsou představeni dva velcí brněnští propagátoři Martinů tvorby Václav Nosek a Zdeněk Zouhar, jimž jsou věnovány samostatné kapitoly. He studied painting, drawing, and sculpture in Brooklyn in the 1960s and started taking photographs when he acquired a Polaroid camera, in 1970. Architekt Josef Schulz (1840–1917) je většině veřejnosti znám hlavně jako autor návrhu stavby Národního muzea, spoluautor Rudolfina či autor rekonstrukce požárem poničené budovy Národního divadla.
