The Definitive Jacques Tati
Oscar-winning French director/performer Jacques Tati (1907-1982) was a fiercely innovative and original filmmaker who found inspiration in the observation of life around him. By creating and playing unassuming characters thrown into the bustle of society-the hapless postman Francois and the maladroit Monsieur Hulot-Tati brilliantly exposed the ways in which class distinctions, social mores, architecture, and technology affect the basic ways that humans relate to one another.
Unlike Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin, to whom he has frequently been compared, Tati took the everyday and recreated it, layered organically with visual and audio gags, for the audience to actively observe. His early work as a mime taught him how to generate laughter without words; in his films he used gestures, facial expressions, costumes, props, sets, sounds, music-everything but dialogue-to do the talking.

"História štadióna Spartaka Trnava. Najskôr tam bolo nič. Potom plocha, kde sa začínalo so všetkým možným. Atletikou, pribudla cyklistika, pozemný hokej a hádzaná chlapov. Tá sa hrala sa na trávnatej ploche futbalového ihroska s 11-timi hráčmi.
Pribudli ženy - hádzanárky, ale tých bolo už iba 7. Nemôžu chýbať hokejisti - najskôr Spartak, neskôr Dukla. V časti "OVÁL" nesmú chýbať fotky z najhistorickejšieho momentu. Bol to zápas s Ajaxom. Potom "PLECHÁČ", jeho nezanedbateľné miesto v Trnave s jeho radosťami i sklamaniami.

After graduating from Harvard with the highest award for her work on conservation and spiritual landscapes, she has been published in Nakhara Journal, Water Urbanisms East, World Heritage Sites and Living Culture of Indonesia, and co-authored the Spiritual Guide to Bali’s UNESCO World Heritage with Dr. J. The photographer
Peter Lindbergh (1944–2019) was a master of his craft who has made his mark in the halls of photography history, with such credits as shooting the first American Vogue cover under Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour, bringing together for the first time a group of young women who would become the ’90s supermodels, and numerous exhibitions at renowned institutions including Victoria & Albert Museum in London and Centre Pompidou in Paris, as well as in solo exhibitions at Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Bunkamura Museum of Art, Tokyo, and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
The contributing author
Martin Harrison is a historian of art and photography and an exhibition curator. He worked with Linda McCartney on Roadworks (1996), Light from Within (2001), and her exhibitions at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford and the International Center of Photography in New York. He has published widely on photography and, most recently, on the paintings of Francis Bacon.

Henri Cartier-Bresson - China 1948-1949, 1958
In December 1948, Henri Cartier-Bresson travelled to China at the request of Life magazine. He stayed for ten months and captured some of the most spectacular moments in China's history: he photographed Beijing in 'the last days of the Kuomintang', and then headed back to Shanghai, where he recorded the new regime's takeover. Moreover, in 1958, Henri Cartier-Bresson was one of the first Western photographers to go back to China to explore the changes that had occurred over the preceding decade. The 'picture stories' he sent to Magnum and Life on a regular basis played a key role in Westerners' understanding of Chinese political events.
