Michael Rittstein
Publikácia Michael Rittstein prináša 80 stranovú plnofarebnú knihu o českom maliarovi, výraznom umelcovi, dlhodobom pedagógovi Michaelovi Rittsteinovi (1949). Michael Rittstein je v obrazových témach pozorovateľom ľudí a sociálnej interakcie medzi živými bytosťami. Ich zobrazovaním sa snaží preniknúť do verbálnej a viac do neverbálnej podstaty situácie medzi nimi. Rittstein kumuluje zo života odpozorované situácie a inscenuje ich na svojich obrazoch. Výsledkom je maľba, ktorá zachytáva ontologické príncípy bytia človeka vo svete: jeho snaženia, výhry, prehry, grotesknosť morálky, ale aj vnútornú integritu jedinca. Publikácia ponúka diela z rokov 1974 – 2017, mnohé z nich vo veľkých detailoch, v plnofarebnej tlači. Obrazy dopĺňa aj Rittsteinov komentár vlastnými slovami k jednotlivým dielam o ich inšpirácii a vzniku. Uverejnené texty sú v slovenskom, anglickom, nemeckom, francúzskom jazyku.
Michael Rittstein (1949)
Je výtvarníkom a pedagógom. Patrí k najvýznamnejším žijúcim predstaviteľom expresívnej figurálnej maľby v európskom kontexte.
V rokoch 1968 – 1974 študoval na Akadémii výtvarných umení v Prahe.
Od 70. rokov 20. storočia sa zaradil k predstaviteľom výtvarného smeru tzv. českej grotesky.
V roku 1987 sa stal spoluzakladateľom „Voľného združenia 12/15, Pozdě, ale přece“. Je členom združenia SVÚ Mánes.
Od roku 2001 vedie Ateliér maľby III na Akadémii výtvarných umení v Prahe, v roku 2012 bol menovaný vysokoškolským profesorom.
Jeho dielo je zastúpené v početných významných zbierkach napríklad v Národnej galérii v Prahe, Galérii hlavného mesta Prahy, Galerii stredočeského kraja v Kutnej Hore (GASK), Pamätníku národného písomníctva v Prahe, Centre Pompidou v Paríži, Albertina vo Viedni ako aj početných súkromných a korporátnych zbierkach.

Degas and His Model
There are many myths about Edgar Degas--from Degas the misanthrope to Degas the deviant to Degas the obsessive. But there is no single text that better stokes the fire than Degas and His Model, a short memoir by Alice Michel, who purportedly modeled for Degas. Never before translated into English, the text's original publication in Mercure de France in 1919, shortly after the artist's death, has been treated as an important account of the master sculptor at work. We know that Alice was writing under a pseudonym, but who the real person behind this account was remains a mystery. Yet the descriptions seem too accurate, the anecdotes too spot-on to discount; even the dialogue captures the artist's tone and mannerisms.
What is found in these pages is at times a woman's flirtatious recollection of a bizarre "artistic type" and at others a moving attempt to connect with a great, often tragic man. The descriptions are limpid; the dialogue is lively and intimate, not unlike reading the very best kind of gossip, with world-historical significance.
Pissing Figures 1280 - 2014
Lebensztejn is one of France’s best - kept secrets. A world - class art historian who has lectured and taught at major universities in the United States, his work has remained almost entirely in French, his American audience limited to a sma ll but dedicated group of cognoscenti. First introducing the Manneken Pis ? the iconic little boy whose stream of urine supplies water to this famous fountain and is also the logo for a Belgian beer company ? the author takes the reader through a semi - scatological maze of cultural history. The earliest example is a fresco scene loc ated directly above Cimabue’s Crucifixion from around 1280 at the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, in which Lebensztejn’s careful eye locates an angel behind a pillar urinating through a hole in his garment. Štvrtá publikácia Aurela Hrabušického a Filipa Vanču z edície Osobnosti slovenskej fotografie tentoraz predstavuje výber z tvorby Ivana Matejku (1942). Tento výrazný fotografický talent sa už v mladosti stal priekopníkom výtvarne orientovanej fotografie na Slovensku. Výtvarní (tzv. umeleckí) fotografi sa po rokoch diktátu socialistického realizmu usilovali oslobodiť fotografiu od verného reprodukovania skutočnosti s cieľom vytvoriť autonómne výtvarné dielo. Matejka patril medzi tých, ktorí v tomto smere zašli najďalej. Na rozdiel od svojich kolegov takmer nikdy nezasahoval do technologických procesov pri vzniku snímky, ale vystačil si so základnými funkciami fotoaparátu. Zanedbané kulisy reálneho socializmu sa v jeho podaní zmenili na detailne rozvrhnuté, rafinované estetické objekty. Máloktorý fotograf pritom vyťažil zo spustnutej reality a civilizačného odpadu toľko krásy.
