Užhorod, podobne ako iné mestá moderného Zakarpatska, má v 20. storočí so Slovenskom množstvo kultúrnych a historických väzieb. Pred prvou svetovou vojnou mali naše územia spoločnú skúsenosť, tvorili totiž súčasť uhorskej časti Rakúsko-uhorskej monarchie. V októbri 1919 sa Podkarpatská Rus (vtedajší názov Zakarpatska) stala súčasťou Československej republiky, ktorá vznikla na troskách monarchie z historicky českých a slovenských území. Od roku 1920 sa v Užhorode odohrávajú urbanistické a architektonické procesy nebývalého rozsahu. Súbežne prebiehalo plánovanie a výstavba celých štvrtí, budovanie ciest, regulácia brehov rieky Uh a zakladanie nových inštitúcií. Po pripojení k Ukrajinskej SSR pribudli na mapu mesta ďalšie významné objekty, predovšetkým vzdelávacie, kultúrne a turistické. Historické peripetie, ktorými si Užhorod v 20. storočí prešiel, sa naplno odrážajú aj v jeho architektúre. V tomto sprievodcovi sú zastúpené objekty, ktoré tu zanechali tri z piatich štátov, ktorých bol Užhorod v minulom storočí súčasťou. Naším cieľom nebolo zaznamenať všetky budovy dôležité pre históriu a reprezentáciu mesta vo vreckovom formáte. Najväčším objavom knihy je predstavenie „príšer“ – unikátnej kolekcie diel na pomedzí symbolizmu, dekadencie a art brut, ktorých stopa vedie k Bélovmu bratovi Jozefovi. Výstava predstavuje tvorivé úsilie dvoch slovenských autorov, ktorí zastávajú v dejinách slovenského výtvarníctva nezastupiteľné miesto a ktorých spájalo silné puto – Ester Martinčekovej-Šimerovej a Martina Martinčeka. Obaja majú za sebou množstvo samostatných a individuálnych výstav doma i v zahraničí a svojou tvorbou sa stali významnými osobnosťami slovenského výtvarníctva.

The book addresses underrepresented themes, including intercultural communication, postcolonial studies and social psychology, while combining theory with real-world application through staggered tasks, discussion prompts, case studies, and projects. The Total Black Experience
The Total Black Experience is the first book to chronicle the history and social significance of Positively Black, one of the longest-running public affairs shows in the history of television. Spurred on by the findings of the Kerner Commission, executives at WNBC-TV greenlit the show and turned production over to a small but dedicated team of storytellers who quickly made it their mission to carve out a space for serious and nuanced discussion of issues important to the Black community and to celebrate all aspects of Black culture. They believed that accurate representation of their experiences was a right, not a privilege. The show's first cohosts included the well-known Harlem-based activist Rev. Eugene Callender and Gus Heningburg, activist, successful consultant and mediator, and advocate for organized labor. Callender had founded Harlem Prep to equip young Black people for college, while Heningburg played a key role in stabilizing life in Newark following the rebellion there in the late 1960s. Both were adept at using the media to reach their constituencies. Combining in-depth interviews with painstaking archival research, The Total Black Experience introduces readers to key members of the Positively Black production team and analyzes thematic shifts in the show's content. The book celebrates Positively Black's longevity and challenges readers to explore the current state of Black representation on television.
