Interwar
British architecture between the wars is most famous for the rise of modernism - the flat roofs, clean lines and concrete of the Isokon flats in Hampstead and the Penguin Pool at London Zoo - but the reality was far more diverse. The Prop
What are film props? What do they do? This book answers these questions by a close attention to those material objects that are used to construct cinematic worlds. The term "prop" is short for property. This truncated term's etymology belies the expansiveness of the concept and indicates the micro and macro scales at which the prop operates. Props are the material—often literal—furniture of cinema's diegetic reality. Props are also narrative agents: think of the animacy of objects in Jean Epstein's account of photogénie, the crystal egg in Risky Business, or the domestic bric-a-brac of Sirk's melodramas. The prop is central to production design and the construction of mise-en-scene. And yet, the prop has rarely—almost never—been taken as an object of analysis and theorization in its own right. This book begins by tracing the prop's curious but unacknowledged role in film theory, before proceeding to a series of theoretical speculations and close readings that bring the prop into focus. Analyses of scenes of "prop mastery" demonstrate the labor that props perform and enable, as well as the interpretive work they make possible. Across a variety of genres, modes, and historical contexts—studio filmmaking, art cinema, adult and avant-garde films—The Prop introduces readers to the notion of "prop value," a quality that puts the prop in proximity to the capitalist commodity, but also provides an ironic distance from the commodity's subjection to exchange value. Monografia Alfred Piffl / Architekt s dušou pamiatkara je exkluzívnym príspevkom ku komplexnému poznaniu osobného a odborného profilu výnimočnej osobnosti, akým nestor architektonického vzdelávania na Slovensku, prvý dekan Fakulty architektúry STU v Bratislave prof. Dr. Ing. arch. Alfred Piffl, CSc. (1907 – 1972 ) bol. V jeho všestrannom diele sa od počiatku prelínal architektonický, vedeckovýskumný, pedagogický a umelecký rozmer ako reflexia interdisciplinárneho prístupu k dejinám architektúry či záchrane architektonického dedičstva na území bývalého Československa.
Profesor Piffl zanechal po sebe mnohostranné a v mnohých ohľadoch stále nedocenené dielo, ktorý sa v najväčšej miere prejavil v rámci záchrany a rekonštrukcie Bratislavského hradu. A hoci sa neskôr stal obeťou totalitného režimu a jeho meno nadlho zapadlo nielen v súvislosti s obnovou Hradu do zabudnutia, jednako stál pri zrode a realizácii najrozsiahlejšej pamiatkarskej akcie na Slovensku vôbec. Práve v zápase o Bratislavský hrad sa naplno prejavili nielen jeho ľudské i odborné kvality, ale najmä mnohodimenzionálna komplexnosť architekta, pamiatkara, historika architektúry, pedagóga, archeológa, vedca bádateľa, ale i poeta či umelca, zachytávajúceho kresbou čaro okamihu či presnosť architektonického detailu. Tieto danosti ho predurčili na to, aby pamiatkam pri ich obnove neraz symbolicky vdýchol druhý život a pred budúcimi generáciami poodhalil tajomstvá ruín i archeologických nálezov.

Monografie o životě a díle P. A. Schenkirže, českého skladatele druhé poloviny 18. století, obsahuje řadu unikátních a dosud neznámých faktů zjištěných nejenom pečlivým studiem nově objevených pramenů z českých kostelních kůrů zpracovávaných v rámci programu DKRVO, oblast 2. hudební věda (Litomyšl, Teplice), ale také z rakouských klášterů. Studiem Souborného hudebního katalogu NK ČR a katalogu RISM se podařilo určit dataci děl a identifikovat i řadu autografů. Zcela novým zjištěním je skutečnost, že Schenkirž byl též nevšedně talentovaným hudebním dramatikem, o čemž svědčí úspěšné uvedení jeho nově identifikované hudby k pastorální gratulační divadelní hře pražským Národním divadlem. Tematický katalog Schenkiržových děl je zpracován jako příloha monografie v elektronické podobě. Publikace vychází česky se souběžným anglickým překladem v ediční řadě Hudebního oddělení NK ČR Varia de musica.

Tato kniha je určena jak amatérským hráčům, kteří na kytaru často hrají trsátkem, tak je vhodná i do škol, kde se učí elektrická kytara. Pro jazzovou a populární hudbu je typické, že se velmi často hrává na kytaru trsátkem (anglicky flatpicking). Aranže vycházejí z akordo-melodického stylu hry na kytaru (anglicky Chord melody style). Nájdete tu piesne, ktoré Jaromír Nohavica hráva na koncertoch výlučne na heligónke, no zopár piesní je tu aj takých, ktoré sú pôvodne určené pre gitaru, ale dajú sa veľmi pekne zahrať aj na heligónke.
Úpravy piesní vychádzajú z originálneho podania Jaromíra Nohavicu, kde heligónka často slúži ako sprievodný nástroj ku spevu, no niekde je doplnená aj melodická linka danej piesne. Obtiažnosť jednotlivých piesní je väčšinou stredne ťažká.
