Edvard Munch occupies a pivotal place in artistic modernity. Az egész úgy kezdődött, hogy a Jóisten gépet adott a kezembe, amikor egy izgalmas emberrel találkoztam. A gép soha nem érdekelt. Az ember igen. Csak megnyomtam a gombot, s már filmen volt az élmény. Ez tetszett nagyon. Később kiderült, hogy túl hosszú "záridőt" állítottam be - lassan ötven éve exponálok. A gép közben átvette fölöttem a hatalmat. Élményekkel kellett etetnem folyamatosan. Csak akkor maradt nyugton, ha elvittem északra és elvittem délre. Ha bevittem fényes palotákba és füstös konyhákba. Ha táncoltunk részeg zenészekkel, sírtunk kopott költőkkel, és nagy formátumú színészekkel szidtuk hajnalig a világot. Fetrengtünk a művészet fennkölt mocsarában, hittünk magunkban és egymásban, s nem engedtük közel magunkhoz mások gondolatait.
De megváltoztak a nappalok és megváltoztak az éjszakák. A világ nagy robajjal átvonult felettünk. Mindannyian meghemperegtünk kicsit a sárban, aztán lassan felálltunk és továbbléptünk. Ha mocsár volt, hát mocsár volt. Mégis igazgyöngyök lapultak már a zsebeimben. Szolgáltam tovább a gépemet.
Egyszer azonban addig ismeretlen világra villantott. Hogy az ajtó magától nyílt ki, vagy kinyitották nekem, már nem tudom, de kiderült, hogy ezer kilométerre az otthonomtól is beszélik azt a nyelvet, amelyen nap mint nap álmodom. Pedig Apám szülői házában ritka volt a magyar szó. Svábul beszéltek - ha vendég jött, németül. De most Anyám nyelvéről beszélek. Az édes anyanyelvemről. Kopott költőim, regényes napjaim, székely és csángó barátaim, emigrációban élő íróink nyelvéről. Különös sorsok, ízes történetek csalogattak városról városra. Felpörgetett, színes napok vártak rám. Sokkal több füstös konyha, mint fényes palota.
Végül felfedeztem újra a hitemet. Ráébredtem, hogy az ember nemcsak azért jár templomba, hogy Istennel beszélgessen, hanem azért is, hogy önmagával.

Experimentation and reversibility
Publikácia prezentuje spoločnú tvorbu dvoch výtvarníkov – fotografky a sklára, ktorí spolupracujú od roku 2010 a svoje spoločné projekty viackrát úspešne vystavovali doma aj v zahraničí. Jana Hojstričová (1972) a Palo Macho (1965) a absolvovali VŠVU v Bratislave, kde v súčasnosti pôsobia ako pedagógovia. Zámerom publikácie je obrazom a slovom zmapovať ich spoločné projekty in situ (2010 – 2021), ich novátorskú pozíciu na súčasnej scéne, keďže sa im v priebehu rokov podarilo cez viaceré technologické experimenty spojiť fotografiu a sklo (nielen na ploche, 2D), ale aj v priestore (3D) – v poslednom čase umeleckým uvažovaním vykročili ku komplexnému stvárneniu priestoru formou spoločných inštalácií. Publikácia okrem obrazovej časti obsahuje nové interpretačné texty historičky umenia Bohunky Koklesovej, spoločný text Mariana Zervana a Moniky Mitášovej a to nielen v slovenskom, ale aj v anglickom jazyku. Man Ray, multitalented master of modernist imagery
Man Ray (1890–1976) was a polymath modernist, working in painting, sculpture, film, printmaking, and poetry. But it was his work in photography, with nude studies, fashion work, and portraiture that saw him pioneering a new chapter in the history of camerawork and art.
With a wide-ranging collection of both his famous and lesser-known works, this monograph gives a vivid overview of Man Ray’s multifaceted practice and photographic legacy. It traces Ray from his artistic beginnings in New York through to his central role in the Parisian avant-garde, where he featured in the first Surrealist exhibition with Jean Arp, Max Ernst, André Masson, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso and produced such now iconic works as Noire et blanche and Le Violon d’Ingres. Through numerous examples of still life, portraiture, and beyond, we see how Ray constantly experimented with new techniques, pushing photography out of its documentary domain into ethereal, poetic expressions through multiple exposure, solarization, and the particular brand of photograms he wittily termed “rayography.”
Hokusai's Fuji
A wonderfully illustrated exploration of one of Hokusai’s key motifs: Mount Fuji.
Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji and the three volumes of his subsequent One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji show his fascination with a single motif: Mount Fuji. Hokusai’s near-obsession with Fuji was part of his hankering after artistic immortality. In Buddhist and Daoist tradition, this mountain was thought to hold the secret to eternal life, as one popular interpretation of its name suggests: fu-shi (“not death”).
Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji was produced from 1830 to 1832, when Hokusai was in his seventies and at the height of his career. Among the prints are three of the artist’s most famous: The Great Wave of Kanagawa; Fine Wind, Clear Morning; and Thunderstorm Beneath the Summit. By the time he created his second great tribute to Mount Fuji, three volumes comprising One Hundred Views of Mount Fuji, he was using the artist names “Gakyo Rojin” (“old man crazy for painting”) and “Manji” (“ten thousand things” or “everything”). Contrasting the mountain’s steadfastness and solidity with the changing world around it, Hokusai depicts Fuji through different seasons, weather conditions, and settings, and in so doing communicates an important message: while life changes, Fuji stands still.
Including all illustrations from these two masterful series, Hokusai’s Fuji also features many of Hokusai’s earlier renditions of the mountain, as well as later paintings. In this way, through Mount Fuji, this volume traces a history of Hokusai’s oeuvre.

Nebo své herce opravdu inspiroval a vybudoval nejlepší činoherní soubor, který tvořil základ činohry Národního divadla ještě v 60. letech minulého století? Příběh jeho života a díla, tvořících výjimečnou jednotu, dovoluje nahlédnout tam, kde se tvoří předpoklady pro to, co pak obecenstvo vidí na jevišti: do složitých vztahů divadelního zákulisí, divadla a kritiky a samozřejmě divadla a doby, která nebyla jednoduchá. Tak předkládaná kniha nabízí i důležitý pohled na kulturní poměry první Československé republiky, která za Hilarova života vznikla a skončila tři roky po jeho smrti.

Csaba mindent tudott a földről, Rózsa bácsi minden tudott az útszéli vendéglőkről, ahol jó bort és fűszeres kolbászt adtak. Útközben Teddy White okos kérdéseket tett föl a termés minőségéről, az ifjú Csaba egy stencilezett pamfletet olvasott a kapitalizmus hanyatlásáról és bukásáról, Rózsa bácsi pedig pajzán dalokat énekelt, és két nóta közt olykor kulákellenes beszédeket rögtönzött. Én fordítottam."
Gótikus templomok a történelmi Magyarországon
A gótika a középkori kultúra virágzásának kora volt, amely során lélegzetelállító építészeti alkotások készültek Európa-szerte, és természetesen Magyarországon is. A magyar történelem hagyatékát fényképezőgépével hosszú évtizedek óta megörökítő Kaiser Ottó fotográfus új albumában a történelmi Magyarország területén fellelhető gótikus remekműveket mutatja be.
