Ruské Palestiny – rozsáhlému a dlouhodobému projektu ruské přítomnosti ve Svaté zemi, který od poloviny 19. století propojoval náboženské, kulturní a politické ambice Ruské říše. Studie obsažené ve svazku sledují vznik a fungování propracovaného systému pravoslavného poutnictví, duchovní a sociální péče, výstavby chrámů, škol a hospiců, systematického odkupování pozemků i archeologické činnosti, na níž se podílel stát i církev. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována roli Ruské duchovní misie a proměnám jejího působení v kontextu zásadních politických zlomů 20. století. Publikace ukazuje, že tento fenomén nelze uzavřít mezi letopočty 1847 a 1917. Navzdory pádu carského režimu, konci britského mandátu i vzniku Státu Izrael přežívala Ruská Palestina v různých podobách i nadále a po roce 1991 se znovu objevují snahy o její částečné obnovení. Elérkeztünk a mohácsi csata 500. évfordulójának küszöbére, ahonnan már belátható közelségben van a megemlékezés, ugyanakkor vissza lehet tekinteni a tudományos felkészüléssel töltött elmúlt esztendőkre. Bár az idei év még számos új kötettel és eredménnyel fogja gazdagítani a mohácsi csata szakirodalmát, már így is elmondható, hogy talán egyetlen olyan történelmi évforduló sem volt a közelmúltban, amelyre ennyire készült volna a magyar tudós társadalom. Ez pedig önmagában érték, hiszen azt mutatja, hogy a hazai tudományos közeg minden nehézség ellenére képes összefogni, s a tudásával, szakértelmével továbblendíteni a csatával kapcsolatos gondolkodásunkat. Ki gondolta volna 2020-ban, hogy azóta - ha csupán a jelen kötetet szintén magába foglaló "nagy piros könyvsorozatot" is nézzük - tucatnyi alaptanulmány jelent meg csak az időközben feltárt III. és IV. tömegsír anyagából, s immár biztos lábakon áll az a tétel, hogy az előkerült maradványok a csata utáni kivégzés keresztény áldozataié, s immár arról beszélhetünk, hogy milyen betegségekben szenvedtek, honnan származtak a csata résztvevői, s pár esetben szinte karnyújtásnyira vagyunk az arcrekonstrukcióktól. Azaz 2026-ban végre arcot kapnak az ötszáz éve kivégzett áldozatok, s ma még beláthatatlanok ennek az ebből fakadó személyesség révén a közgondolkodásra ható pozitív következményei. Illetve ki gondolta volna pár elvakult történészen kívül, hogy össze lehet állítani egy, az eddigi ismereteinket jóval meghaladó névsort a csatában részt vett személyekről. A külvilág számára láthatatlan sziszifuszi munkával mára eljutottunk oda, hogy létezik egy ilyen lista, készülnek a benne szereplők életrajzai, s e kötet egyik tanulmánya elemzi a csata után keletkező veszteséglistákat, s egyben módszertani alapzatot ad ahhoz, hogy milyen erudícióval lehet nekiállni egy ilyen munkának. Eddig biztosnak hitt nevekről derült ki, hogy valójában sosem léteztek, míg mások, akiket eddig sosem "jegyzett" a történelem, ott voltak a mohácsi csatában. Így az arcok mellett neveket és sorsokat is kapnak az eddig megfoghatatlan hősök, ez pedig óhatatlanul személyessé formálja a csata eddig jobbára absztrakt fogalmát. Lépjünk azonban beljebb a tudomány által kitárt ajtón, és nézzük meg a régészet, a geográfia, az irodalomtörténet, a muzeológia, a művészettörténet és az etnográfia új eredményeit. Vajon ki gondolta volna, hogy a régészek által talált aprócska lövedékekből ma már pontosan meg tudjuk állapítani, miként készültek, s hogyan használták őket, azaz értjük a korabeli tűzfegyverek működését? Vagy hogy épp a csatatéren talált apró sarkantyútöredékekből érthetjük meg a korabeli lovasság működését? Bizony, az e kötetben olvasható eredmények még a kérdésként sem merültek fel pár évvel korábban, s igazából ebből mérhető le a tudomány eredményessége, hiszen végre kimondhatjuk, hogy a különböző tudományágak közötti párbeszédnek köszönhetően új szempontokat sikerült felvetnünk a csatával kapcsolatban. Ugyanez elmondható a geográfiával összefüggésben is. Míg 2020-ban még csak történészek szóltak hozzá a táji környezethez, az azóta eltelt esztendőkben földrajztudósok, néprajzosok, illetve régészek szintén bekapcsolódtak a kutatásba, és egy sor tanulmányban rekonstruálták az ötszáz évvel korábbi természeti állapotot. Munkájuk eredményeképp Mohács környéke mára a Kárpát -medence legjobban dokumentált kistérségévé vált, s ez megtermékenyítő hatással van a legújabb csatarekonstrukciókra is, amelyekből az emlékévben is várható új eredmény. Az elmúlt év szellemi pezsgéséhez természetesen hozzájárultak a csata emlékezetével kapcsolatos kutatások is, csak ebben a kötetben egymás mellett olvasható egy-egy írás három kortárs történetíró, Brodarics István, Szerémi György és Zermegh János szövegeiről. S ehhez még hozzájönnek a 18-19. századi irodalmi, s a 20. századi egyházi recepcióval kapcsolatos eredmények, ahogy Tomori Pál emlékezetének izgalmas bemutatása, mely jól kiegészíti a mohácsi fővezér katonai tevékenységéről írt tanulmányt mintegy ívet húzva a múlt és a jelen között. Ráadásul 2026-ban immár nemcsak a magyar kulturális emlékezetről beszélünk Mohács kapcsán, hiszen e kötetben több cikk is sorakozik a csata oszmán s boszniai szellemi lenyomatáról, mert - az elmúlt évek kutatásainak eredményeként az is kiderült, hogy - a mohácsi csata hatása és jelentősége, ezáltal pedig értelmezési kerete is túlmutat a magyar szemhatáron. Európai ügy, amint ezt a kötetben olvasható korabeli diplomáciával foglalkozó cikkek világosan bizonyítják, s ebbe a földrajzi fogalomba a keleti sztyeppe és a Krím-félsziget is beletartozik. Az oszmán elefántcsorda dübörgése az egész kontinensen nyomot hagyott, még ha a sebek javát mi is kaptuk. Bár ezzel a régi toposszal is illik óvatosan bánnunk, hiszen a Bosznia 15. századi sorsáról szóló cikkét elolvasva kiderül, bizony nekik még nálunk is mostohább sors jutott osztályrészül. Kniha Fašismus významného českého právního historika, profesora Univerzity Karlovy a také politika Jana Kaprase, která vyšla v roce 1936, nás obšírně seznamuje s italským fašismem a jeho přední postavou, Benitem Mussolinim. Autor se ve svém pokusu o analýzu fašismu a jeho vůdce pokusil zachytit nacionalistickou ideologii v její nastupující fázi, do jisté míry zatím bezkonfliktní a z pohledu stoupenců perspektivní, aniž by jako historik předjímal pozdější vývoj. V těchto souvislostech knize dominuje postava Benita Mussoliniho, a to od počátků jeho kariéry až po rok 1936, kdy je kniha ukončena. Kaprasův Fašismus stojí rozhodně za přečtení jako autorská intepretace dokumentu a bohatého faktografického materiálu i důležitého svědectví jednoho začátku historické epochy.
