Szombat Jutka huszonéves korában az erőszakos téeszesítés következményeként egyik napról a másikra gyári munkásnak állt. Az egy falusi, nyolcgyermekes, földműves család tagjaként, Váton született fiatal lány az 1950-es évek második felétől naponta ingázott lakó- és munkahelye között, és hosszú évek teltek el az életében, mire a tornácot erkélyre, a vályogházat összkomfortos panelra cserélhette.
Jutka történetén keresztül megismerhetjük, hogy az első generációs munkások többségének milyen kihívásokkal kellett megküzdeniük a munkaközvetítő irodák kígyózó soraiban, a gyári futószalag mellett, az állomásokon a vonatra várva, vagy akár a hóviharban biciklizve. De legfőképp megérthetjük, hogy milyen nagyobb erők állhattak a hétköznapi emberek mindennapi döntései mögött.
KISŐRSI-FARKAS ZSÓFIA társadalomtörténész, az ELTE BDPK Történelem tanszékének oktatója. Alap- és mesterszakos tanulmányait az ELTE BTK-n végezte. Doktori címét 2022-ben szerezte az ELTE BTK Atelier Interdiszciplináris történeti Doktori Program hallgatójaként. Fő kutatási területe a 20. századi magyar társadalom.
